Right now at Rimping they are selling 1 kilo of turkey for 999b. Absolutely freaking absurd. I bought some there a few months ago for 120b.

Well have you seen the size of Thai chicken? To make turkey here it would have to be fed at Sofitel buffets 5 times a week

Islamophobia is now generally accepted as a word; however, for myself and many people that I have discussed this with, it remains a complete misnomer. Prefixing phobia, with Islam, implies an irrational or abnormal fear of something, in this instance, Islam, which is not at all the case with myself.

    Do I fear Islam ? ……. absolutely

Is my fear irrational ? ….. absolutely not.

C'mon, just look at the paradise the religion of peace brings

Pakistan: 96+ % Islam religion... 30+ % of people believes there is nothing wrong with raping children. It's not even a sin!

And police say it's not priority because of the number of bomb attacks.

A friend of my in New Mexico told me today that he can buy the Sig Sauer P320SP for $550.  So either the government procurement office got taken for a ride for their bulk purchase of 150,000 pistols, or.......I'll leave that to the reader's imagination should they understand how things works here in the LOS -- 23,000 THB compared to a comparable US retail price of 18,380 THB at the current exchange rate.  Wonder where that extra 4,260 THB went to???
4,260 x 150,000 = 639,000,000 THB.  Boy, that will keep someone flush with nice cars and mia nois for quite awhile.

yea this guy posted the retail price $530 = 17 700 thb

what could be the price when buying 150k pieces? Probably more like 2 billion THB went to corruption tax

You really are judgmental to the extreme. It is like trying to make small talk to somebody at a bar by asking "How do you think the weather will be tomorrow?" while you casually look at the grey sky and his answer is "Ohh, so you just want it to rain. You really enjoyed the 2011 flood, didn't you? You like to see people lose their home and life?"

When you quietly take your beer and move away, it dawns to you why this sad old man is always sitting alone.

You nailed it. Most people here share opinions and articles, he just barks at everything with "fake news" and "you are horrible human being" while waiting for an off-plan condo to be finished. While nobody has crystal ball he managed to buy his home months before the 2008 financial crisis.

Having track record "a property I bought in 2007, 10 years later I probably would get £25k less than I paid for it 10 years ago" one would expect this person to be much more careful and open minded.

looking bad, I didn't believe you before funandsun, after all you made some pretty silly statements but now you've published an internet report from an "expert" so now it's official and thailand and many other countries are extremely soon going to have a financial crash.

congratulations funandsun, you got it right you were right all along, you're a very smart guy, after all you told all of us this was going to happen and now an "internet report" has confirmed this, very sorry for thinking you were printing nonsense for your own selfish agenda.

man you are probably the most biased guy in this thread... your ass is shaking for the boom to continue because you bought (likely overpriced) project that is still just on paper

I know buying my condo was risky, bad value and possibly not too smart but my condo building is now 70% complete and 90% sold, great location, 50 yards from a nice quiet beach, hopefully and most likely I will be fine

ok there may be rude or derogatory comments  about this but thailand fully intends to have  "japanese style"

Three-quarters of a million bucks? Jeez, I remember nipa huts on Chaweng beach for 50 Baht a night in 1986, back in the days when swimming in the sea didn't come with a nasty rash.

Lucky you... but I wasn't even born that year lol

It's been said before but it's worth repeating: why on Earth buy when leasing is so cheap in Thailand? Sure, there are people who have no problem, but you are potentially tying up considerable capital for an uncertain period, so many things can go wrong and the rule of law is so arbitrary, not to say biased against you as a foreigner, that you may well be opening yourself up to a world of trouble.

    Rent, I say.

I would never buy a condo in Bangkok, renting is always much cheaper and you can't do with condo much anyway.

But house/villa rentals on islands are crazy $$$ ... they seem to value 1 year contract like if you are on splurge for honeymoon. And ultimately it would be nice to have a place called "home"

Most contractors purchase the land, build a house on it and put it on sale after having multiplied the cost by 3 or more.

So, it's easy to know the price of the land that you want to buy (verify this at the Land Office) easy too to calculate the material cost...finally go talk with a contractor to see how much time he needs to build and you have an almost complete picture...

Yea the only thing I ever expect in Thailand is to be overcharged

In such big investment even 15% saving (close to 4 million) makes sense to learn the basics, do it yourself and oversee the work to make sure it is as good as possible.

While I know nothing about building, I hardly manage to assembly IKEA furniture, my best mate is an architect / manager overseeing massive constructions for a huge Japanese company and I have a lot of friends who "work with hands" so I can always offer a free holiday for bit of help :)

  8. Thanks to all the replies. I know zero about building or diy that's why such broad question.

Anyway something like this - 3 bed, nice pool, open plan and futuristic design is what I would like.

Would cost more than I am willing to leave here.  The "artist" who drew it only expects the person wealthy enough to build it will only have a small "eco" car!

There is supposedly a garage for two cars

it is for rent btw https://www.booking.com/hotel/th/infinity-villa.html and https://www.facebook.com/villa.infinity.samui/

    $400 - $500 a night

be surprised after that if they can't afford to pay their electricity bill but what do I know you stay in a "high end" area of bangkok and they can't afford electric there, that does surprise me???

but I learn something new every day on here, now I understand that when I move into my condo, I don't pay my electric bill direct to the electric company but in fact I pay it to my condo management, thank you for enlightening me John Lick..........you buffoon!

I can add that gem to the fact apparently that Sansiri only made a profit because they charged condo owners higher maintenance fees.

Check this you id?ot https://ibb.co/nBbrWG it says "pay to MEA" ... means Metropolitan Electricity Authority you joke
