You may have a point, as I hope the electorate is beginning to realise the lies told to them by our govt. - but this is just a small step.
Which is why I said "The brexit referendum result gives us hope that things may change."
Lots of people have realized they were sold lies, such as the 3 million Muslim Leave voters, only 27% of which say they would still vote Leave in another referendum.

No you can't - its all conjecture when it comes to brexit.
Hilarious, actually we can listen to the companies who are leaving as a result.

Not really. I was referring to a vote to stay in the EU. Not EC or Common Market.
Doesn't the EU go back to 1954 and the establishment of the Western European Union? The EU is just a name change, we voted in 1975 to remain in the Common Market, the EEC and to keep the Assembly of the Western European Union, which together merged into the EU, surely you are not suggesting that a name change means the first vote didn't apply.

And we're all getting bored again at the never ending, circular arguments...
"head in sand" or not inclined to believe the continual (unprovable) arguments that are presented by remainers?
No, it was an analogy of the similarly inane proposal that we cannot see the future until we reach it, we can predict suffocation like we can predict harm to the economy.

I'm not aware of a referendum that resulted in "Remain". When was that?
Good grief.

Those who believe there should be another referendum for the sake of democracy must surely also believe that, if the second referendum was a "stay in the EU" victory then there will need to be a third referendum as the score would be 1-1.
Its already 1-1, so you must surely believe that there needs to be a third. Whoops!

Yes. There is no way to know unless we actually (and genuinely) leave.
And there is no way to know whether you will suffocate or not unless you keep your head in the sand.

LOL, a major part of the Leave campaign was leafleting British citizens of foreign decent with rhetoric implying that leaving the EU would make it easier for them to bring their family into the UK.

Duh! That's the whole point of the expression!
We don't know what it meant, it is assumed to have been a common phrase at the time the Old Testament was written, it could refer to gums being left behind after the devil rips your teeth out, or your lips being the only skin left after the devil rips your face off, or the enamel on the teeth being a thin layer of protection, we really have no idea.

When NRATV puts out propaganda such as this, it is clear that the NRA is more than just a gun rights advocacy group, they are also a right-wing propagandist.
Quote“This is the event that is supposedly being put on by children. It is not. It is being organized by a group of often violent women who speak a lot of rhetoric and anti-gun rhetoric,” host Grant Stinchfield said Thursday morning. “They support cop killers. This is the organizers of the Women’s March, and I believe that these kids are being used as pawns and being duped to push an ultimate socialist agenda, not just an anti-gun agenda.”

Even Thais have to pay bribes. My Thai wife was educated at Stanford in the US and runs a multi-million dollar stem cell and anti-aging chain in Thailand. She has to pay bribes constantly to other Thais. This is how it works. Most of the medicine she uses is imported from the US and Germany because quality control in Thailand is absolutely horrid. Even Thais won't use or buy medicine that is made in Thailand. No one with an ounce of brainpower would touch medicine made in Thailand. It simply isn't' safe. How do you think the Thais get all this farang medicine into Thailand????? Custom bribes buddy. Who do you think the richest people in Thailand are? They all work at Thai customs. You hands down must pay for protection in Thailand regardless of being Thai or farang. The same rules apply to ALL business owners. Both my wife and I graduated from the number 1 University in the world: Stanford. We are both multi-millionaires. I think we would know what it takes to operate a successful business in Thailand.
Are you sure you want to brag about choosing money over morals? To be fair, those who train as doctors but then choose to spend their time making money off rich people who don't want to look their age, don't tend to have the highest moral fiber. Best of luck to both of you and your profiteering venture's in the developing world.

Okay, this is getting tiresome. I repeat, I paid no bribe so I’m not posting my “criminal activity on the internet”. At least I was correct with my “self-righteous” comment.
Interesting to see you back-peddling on your initial comments about my wife’s concerns. Maybe you’re starting to get some of the big picture.
Here is what you wrote.
"had to pay thousands of baht to corrupt government officials for a building permit for an extension to our house"
Yes, I get the big picture, you've been lying with dogs and now you're got fleas, just don't expect sympathy when telling us about your criminal activity in Thailand, its only making it harder for the honest folk.

Sorry, try again. That was adjudicated in Japan against a Japanese national, not Thailand, under anti corruption laws similar to those in the US and other “developed” countries.
Also, even the “non-corrupt” price for a building permit is more than 20 baht, so please don’t comment on things you don’t know about.
With regards to my wife’s concerns, if you knew the crap she and her family have gone through with the Thai courts you’d understand. Also, I’d trust her knowledge of Thailand and its culture (warts and all) over a self-righteous, farang, Thai apologist.
Pointing out to you that you are posting your criminal activity on the internet is not being self-righteous, however your attempts to call your bribe something else is.
As for your wife, her fears are probably warranted, in my experience, those who go down the paying bribes road just keep paying them till their money is gone, once the official knows they are dealing with a mug, why would they stop?

“Respect to the law and how culture in Thailand operates.”?
Give me me a break. There is no rule of law in Thailand. It’s money above everything else that personifies Thai culture. And before you label me some “Thai Basher” (a silly euphemism often applied to those who speak the truth on this forum) in less than 2 years back in Thailand after living with me in the US, my Thai wife is in the process of being cheated out of land that’s been in her family for decades, and has had to pay thousands of baht to corrupt government officials for a building permit for an extension to our house. I might add that while our extension was built to code, our next door neighbor built a similar extension but did clearly outside of code/illegally. No skin off my/our teeth as it doesn’t impact us, but spare us the drivel about “respect for law and Thai culture.”
Bribing an official is a crime which carries a maxmium sentence of 5 years in prision, you want to moan about corruption, stop fueling it you hypocrite.

They write about the FBI investigation into Trump, they are hardly going to ignore that and instead write about some fantasists dribbling attempt to detract attention away from their beloved and onto something that was said 30 years ago.

'Kieran00001' this post of yours makes me ask you about your personal links with that WPU, are you ashamed to be one of the abused, ...or on the side of the shameless abusers? Your later posts #9 and #14 on this topic make me wish even more to know where you stand concerning this ...scam (IMO, ...and that of the Court). Not even counting the one about Trump's buying himself out of his 'university' scam's legal consequences, you seem to find OK). Where do you stand "Kieran00001'?
My personal viewpoint is that it was wrong of them to offer honorary degrees for a fee under the pretext of honoring those who have contributed greatly to society, it raises question as to whether those who paid were also deserved of merit or whether their money alone was enough, which would be grossly misleading. However, what I cannot see is what harm they have done to their students, my guess is that they had some high profile clients who prefer the idea of having been criminally "lured" rather than having been the willing accomplice.

Leaving to Vientiane direct in a few hours.
My passport looks like:
page 1 of visas: thailand exit stamp + stamp showing details of tourist visa from last passport + 14 day overstay stamp
page 2: cambodia visa
page 3: cambodia entry/exit stamp + thailand denial of entry stamp (
page 4: empty
page 5: cambodia visa
page 6: cambodia entry stamp
By the time I try to cross to Thailand later tonight, I will have another cambodia exit stamp, a Laos visa + laos entry/exit stamps (i think). That's a pretty ugly looking passport + the fact I'm trying to get in 2 calendar days after being denied means that if I get in, pretty much anyone has a decent shot via land borders.
Will update results for good measure <removed>
You could try going to Poipet and paying one of the border guys, they do little services there such as taking your passport to Laos and back for you to save you the bother of walking through and queueing, they might also be able to help you with this one.

Well then there’s no need to call yourself a university or lie about being affiliated to one, is there.
I didn't say there was a need to do what they did, I asked you to explain your claim that it was a problem for those given honorary degrees. I can't see how it was and, at the time this occured, they interviewed those being given the honors and it was clear that they understood what they were getting and why, no none felt they were being defrauded and no one felt they were gaining an academic qualification.
The WPU only came to light because one of their honorary degree holders tried to fraudulently pass it off as an academic qualification and was reported for that, they willfully broke the law.
All universities also give out honorary degrees alongside their accademic degrees every graduation, often giving them to celebrities so that they gain some advertising through their alumni, is that fraud in your opinion? It only is if they try to use it as an academic qualification, giving and receiving them is normal throughout the world.

It’s called ‘fraud’.
a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities
Its an honorary degree, which university "accredited" it makes no difference as it is illegal to use it as an accademic qualification, so again, in what way is that a problem to anyone?

Love the way he attempts to use the Ottoman empires genocide as reasoning to prevent them from joining the EU, perhaps he has forgotten the Pacification of Libya and the genocide of 125,000 people at the hands of their Italian rulers, the war crimes Italy committed there, the execution of prisoners of war, the purposeful targeting of civilians and the use of indiscriminate chemical weapons, a genocide which resulted in the loss of 25% of Libya's Cyenaican population and was AFTER the Ottoman genocide.
