"If the tests are positive they will have to be treated."

This sounds kind of like a threat. Isn't normal medical practice to treat people who have symptoms, rather than everyone with a positive test result?

I dun thinking that removing the pre-flight test allows for the capture and containment of many positive on arrival soles, at fair and only slightly above market price forced accommodations.  With the pre-flight test in place these soles would have had to remain at home and would have been unable to share a portion of their bank savings with our local hotel/taxi/hospital operators.

This kind of dog, in particular, should never be off their leads in public and should always wear a collar.

The few times I have encountered rottweilers they have come across as vicious and uncontrollable.

Dogs have 6 senses.  And what they sensed from you was fear in all their 6 senses.  Frightened people scare people as well as dogs.

i have owned a pair of these gorgeous, loving, protective, child-friendly beasts.  Always friends to everyone until the end. RIP

yes .... although it's totally unprofessional & unacceptable action by Boots,  it's not all lost and gone,  mistakes do happen even in the UK,  it was probably all a complete misunderstanding as the well known Thailand excuse.

Get another test and flight booking immediately .....

If this had been a Thai Boots all you <deleted> would have been at full volume berating the Thai people.  I am unbiased and would have to say that the UK migrant workers that have served me on my visits to London are on par or slightly less educated than Isan farmers, so why not just stop your whining and either go home or adapt.

Whatever is planned, guaranteed it will be mired in red tape and masses of regulations and be utterly crapola. Give up, general. Just go away; PLEASE!!!!

As with the Pattaya fireworks festival last weekend, where the mayor was quoted as saying “no alcohol will be allowed” … alcohol was present everywhere in large quantities and openly for all the police to see.  And so new years, as with everything else in Monty Python land, will be rife with many insensible rules that can be completely ignored.

  5. Scamming is a genetic trait of the human race.  It is up to the buyer to confirm everything before commencing a transaction.   Sort of like checking the menu to see if service charges are automatically added or not.  Whether water is complimentary or not.  Whether you have to return the rental car or bike with a full tank.

This is what happens when you advertise a country as being 'open' again when really it's just a lie.

The law regarding mask wearing should be made very clear on the website where you apply for your visa or 'entry pass' / whatever they're calling it this week, make it a checkbox that they acknowledge they know it's the law, that it is enforced and that there are large fines.

This is what happens when tourists copy locals, who don’t wear masks or helmets or use crosswalks or or or.   The Thai public of course copy their local officials who don’t wear masks or helmets or obey traffic rules etc. etc. etc.

actually he is correct in that every child should learn to swim, it should be mandatory ....  as for the language I have always said schools MUST make english a requirement.  A child that can speak English has a far better opportunity to travel and advance in life through career prospects, than one that can't.

Agreed.  Many farmers die from drowning.  The population is lazy and definitely exercise is good for health and lastly learning Thai and English would be useful to most in opening doors of opportunity.  Banning Isan would also be advised as it is a language of uneducated people.

WHY would they come? Successful knowledgeable folks more than anyone don’t want strings attached. They expect returns and such.

I would say strings are not the issue. I have some wealthy friends who have visited me over the past 24 years and they are 100% in agreement that none of them want to return and they all consider the city of Bangkok and the town of Pattaya to be cesspools.  Thailand is a land for business and whore mongering.  The focus should be on attracting foreigners who want to manufacture.  The past has seen Thailand attract poor or middle income guys who want younger spouses.  This is the Thai niche market.   It ain’t much more than that.   I was given the choice in Vancouver of many nice looking 40+ year olds but I like 20 +/-   So I am here.

and a team would have been working on it first day out of the gate

My sons grade 1 class was hired to do the QA on the Thai Pass system and they found so many faults they pushed the problem up the channel to the grade 2 class, where it got bogged down in red tape.  Now it is back with the grade ones.

Damn hoping the let my son start studying again soon as this QA doesn't help his grades.

Most sane response to be found on this forum.   The person asking the question "can Thailand compete?" is poor therefore they do not understand what people with money want.  Garbage, smell of sewers, water drainage problems whenever it rains and it rains a lot here, bad roads, bad drivers, bad police, dirt everywhere and in everything, ..... etc. etc. etc.  forever more, this is a country for old guys looking for reasonable non-black girls and for lower to middle class families to enjoy tropical climates.  Not to say there are no rich people visiting Thailand, but they are a unique set of clients - mainly single clients.

The reality is that people who have money will always comes first in Thailand, no matter who you are or where you come from. And that includes Thai people.

The reality is that people who have money will always come first PERIOD.   If you think the poor and middle class deserve the same respect as the wealthy then wake up.   No country exists where the wealthy are treated equally with the non wealthy, that is why people wirk hard.   To be above the masses.

What you read is primarily the Thai politicians making noise for the benefit of the Thai people.   It isn’t grounded in reality.   It doesn’t need to be.

This is exactly the same as what Trump dished out for four years.  Lies, exaggerations and half-truths.

oh, but wait.  That can be said for most politicians.

What is all the complaining about visas and 90-day reporting?  I came here in 1997 and things are bliss now.  So easy.  Nice immigration people, everything a snap.  Annual retirement visa process about 2-3 hours including bank letter.  Ninety day reporting anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour 4 times a year.   Less than one day of your life to complete everything to reside here.

I am Canadian.   Try and get a visa to live, work or study in Canada.   Good luck.   I am also American, try there.  Good luck.

Thailand requires people to be low rung middle income earners.   Only 800,000 baht in savings, which better be in the bank if you plan to live anywhere retired.  Or build a family and business.

Those that do not meet that basic financial requirement can move North, West or East.

So publicly they are saying they will punish anyone who excercises freedom of speech, there is no right to a POV, there's no right to complain....

Only the right of the regime to demand impunity and take down anyone that threatens it...

This is not your country.  Respect is required.  You have no right to voice or show your opinion.  Leave Thais to take care of Thailand.   Or just leave, might be the better choice.

well 95,500 times 4,303 times 35 equals millions doesn't it?

500 new jobs for Thais and 95,000 for migrant workers probably.

I believe the plan calls for 95,500 prisoners to be released and initiated into the Royal Thai Police as senior seasoned officers. Each will bring their entourages, which amounts to millions of new jobs and for the public’s benefit a better force with many more experienced police on our roadways to keep us safe.
