  1. I am wondering about the Thai teaching style, since my daughter is going to a Thai private school. Just today a niece of our daughter is at our home. My girlfriend is helping her with some homework as apparently this girl has been lazy, not been doing her homework. Now she's doing math, basic addition and subtraction. This girl is going to a free government school. But this niece (7 year old) is apparently having trouble doing basic calculations, e.g. 8 + 4 = 12. Now my girlfriend tends to become angry (raise her voice a bit, sounding a bit aggressive) as this girl is having trouble doing these calculations. I do feel this girl isn't as smart as most children her age, but I don't feel raising the voice and becoming a tad angry is helping her understanding. But I've been wondering: maybe my girlfriend is mimicking behaviour she saw from teachers back when she was a girl? So my question: how do Thai teachers deal with children that have difficulty understanding a topic? Do Thai teachers tend to become a little bit angry? I wouldn't want a teacher exhibit this behaviour when our daughter would have difficulty understanding some topic ...
  2. Another vote from the military beach from me. It's maybe 15-25 mins drive south of Jomtien, near Bang Saray. Clean water and less harassment by people trying to sell food or foot massages or other <deleted>.
  3. My guess would be died due to complications of the vaccine - perhaps blood clots (as has been seen previously with AZ vaccines in Europe in a few cases). Remember: no vaccine is 100% safe and from every vaccine some people die. Usually states have funds to help relatives with some money after a person died from a vaccine, Thailand has such a fund as well.
  4. They should at least put some limits on land size owned by foreigners - and perhaps they do. Say max 1 rai, maybe even less. Might also need to think of some inheritance ruling, maybe after foreigner dies and if descendants or significant other is not Thai, force them to sell to Thai people within 5 years. Apart from the land ownership possibility, I think the deal is a bit crappy. Other countries give a permanent citizenship or even passport (valid for life) for this or less money: https://www.goldenvisas.com/country
  5. I don't agree. Actually women distract men from reaching their full potential. Which is why some very highly successful men can't keep a solid relationship going. Because great men want to achieve great things and to achieve great you are ideally singularly focused and dedicated towards your goal. I have been in a relationship and have a daughter, but I also have some goals and the relationship makes it harder to achieve my goals. I want to become self sufficient from my work, being able to stop working for clients. And to achieve these goals, I need to work hard, save a lot of money. If I didn't have a relationship I would have already achieved these goals by now. But having a relationship makes it harder, since woman are not careful with money, since children cost a lot of money and a relationship requires time that I can't use to better my skills and abilities. Also, for the sake of our daughter I am "kind of" stuck in Thailand, whereas I might have made more money if I moved to a different high-income country just to work there a couple of years and be done with it. I think if you look in history you will find many men that achieved great (or sometimes terrible in case of Hitler, Stalin) things, were not reliant on woman to achieve their goals. Some examples: Elon Musk, Newton, Blaise Pascal, Marcus Aurelius, Nicola Tesla, founding fathers of the US, Einstein, etc... To be honest if our relationship would be over in the future (which I feel might happen at some point due to different views and ways of handling life situations), I would not have another long-term relationship with a woman. Instead I'd life alone, sometimes hire a girl for some fun, but otherwise just focus on my work, my hobbies & my daughter.
  6. I liked the Nok Air outfits of the ladies, so I am hoping this company stays afloat.
  7. Do you think a real-estate agent is even gonna tell a potential client that the market is <deleted> and it's extremely hard to sell for the usual asking price right now? Remember: these people get commission on sales.
