The media ignores the vast majority of defensive shootings and the few they do report, they tend to print somewhere in the middle of the paper in a tiny little part column.
That's strange, if the media print a tiny part in a paper, are you saying that nobody with a mobile phone was around to video or take photos, happens all the time now.

Apparently there’s lots of successful self defense shootings by law-abiding gun owners in the U.S. but most of the mainstream media ignore those defensive shootings, or else bury the story half way through the paper in a small half column article to keep it quiet.
They want to report only the bad criminal shootings and blame it on the gun...
Not true there have only been approx. 20 of these defensive shootings in the last 5 years and were covered by the media, Unfortunately a couple of warriors on this thread are having Walter Mitty syndrome.

Oh OK, I see the english is better now wot wot.
This is a thread about Thailand, and for me to try to educate folks with no training in firearms, little knowledge about firearms and no tradition of freedom, self reliance and self defense would be far off topic.
Yeh Dude. well spotted this thread is about Thailand but as most threads go sometimes people comment on other places, you have done so on your own posts, also you would not be capable of educating me on firearms, I spent many years in the British armed forces and also several trips to your 101st airborne at Fort Campbell, So when you were the hero of the day and stopped the shooter with your gun the media coverage must have been epic, perhaps you could send a link to that shooting.

Hi whats that mean in English?
sorry forgot that you speak American, your buddy said ''if you feel you need to carry a weapon, remove yourself from that situation'' so how many people in Texas have a concealed firearm licence, meaning they should remove themselves from that situation then no need to carry a gun around. Yes you have the right to bear arms but why should your average joe be able to buy a AR15 or armour piercing ammunition.

they don't want to be anywhere near you or any other white people.
they have many places they go to and are spending big money. far more that all other tourists.
I 'm happy if they don't want to go anywhere near us non Chinese, I used to frequent a nice resort in Patts until bus loads of them arrived, once checked into the rooms about a dozen men wearing underpants not swimwear jumped in then proceeded to wash and blow snot into the pool needless to say we found another resort. I avoid them whenever possible.

At Buriram Immigration yesterday I had a slight problem. To cut it short my missus was passed a piece of paper with 15,000 Baht on it. The officer said this is the price for us to overlook the seasoning period. I said no as I don't mind going back in 2 months once my money has seasoned.
They deliberately push people into a corner in the hope that they'll jump. I didn't, and saved myself 15,000 Baht.
Same happened to me at Buriram 3 years ago I also refused to pay, they gave me a hard time because I would not pay and I had to make 3 trips to immigration in one week before I got my extension, 600k driving back and forth, bunch of T____ers

Assuming you've already visited the Buriram office for an extension, or such and not just entered on a Non O-A Visa, the procedure and window to submit an online 90 day report can be found here.
Thanks I will check it out

First came in 1971 and loved it and always planned to retire in Thailand. I still love the Thai people but there are now so many negatives involved in settling in Thailand-
It's not just the Immigration issues although they are a nuisance nor the possibility of medical insurance which is way overpriced for the coverage.
What bothers me the most are=
-The costs of any product imported are rising constantly. Imported medicines; foods; wines; health products cost 3-5 times what they do in America/
-Pollution- bad and getting worse year by year without any type of controls. The beaches are dirty; the water is filthy and no controls are enforced.
-Lack of Justice- the police do not do their jobs ; the judicial system is limited; and money controls the whole system.
-Income Inequality- There is a rising undercurrent in the population based upon a lack of income; education and opportunity fueled by alcohol and drugs. When there is no hope- youth acts out in ways that destroy civil society
-Lack of Any Moral Compass- Double Pricing; Scams; Massive Corruption; Decaying religion
-Driving- completely out of control- chaotic and will take generations to cure but there is no start to a program
-Education- my Thai Step Daughter is in a first rate Thai university but her future is limited- due to a real lack of opportunity and upward mobility except for the connected.
It's not one thing that is a deal breaker. It is the combination of things that make Thailand a society that is going backward while other countries are moving forward.
Like the OP- I worked mostly outside Thailand- in Asia- and visited my Thai wife and family regularly and while I speak passable Thai- I never really focused on the negatives. However, since full retirement in Thailand and having alot of time on my hands I have become fully aware of the negatives and any lack of commitment from the Government to do anything to really help the country.
When you add in the Immigration changes; possible Insurance requirement and the decline of Western currencies, Thailand doesn't look as good as it once did.
If I was single I would not stay in Thailand full time- I would go to the Philippines and Japan.
However, people like myself have many assets in Thailand- House and Condo; cars; children in school and an extended Thai family so making a move is not feasible.
At this juncture- if one is not fully invested in Thailand with assets etc and you s still have a choice- I would think long and hard whether what you want in life is available in Thailand long term.
Think about what Thailand will be 5. 10, 15, 20 years from now and what you want in life.
Well said, it's exactly how I feel, I live in a village with my wife and my 4 year old , very happy here for 11 years, try not to think about all the obstacles that can make it sometimes difficult to stay here, Xpats have choices in Thailand and we know the choices, depends on your circumstances , yes it's very frustrating.

Satan is most active in the churches. The only person who walked the earth that was free of sin was Jesus Christ, and He died for our sins. Those who reject Jesus, will have an eternity to regret it. ????
Read the book he died in the end, get a grip so you have seen satan and he was very active which church was this and what was he up to .

Got mine refurbished at a small shop on the old coast road in Cholburi, 242/9-10 Moo 10 Tambon Bangprae, Sri Racha Cholburi, (just past the huge CP grain factory). Cost 600 B / wheel, but it varies depending on condition.
Tel: 086 112 6882, 087 096 3849, 080 644 2330 (They cannot speak Thai).
You have to leave the wheels with them, they don't accept leaving the whole car.
As for fitting larger wheels, bear in mind you are altering the overall gearing.
Thank's for that

I have a old thai pickup and will be changing the tyres in a couple of months the tyre size is 205/70/15, as the alloy wheels are a bit tatty and I can't find anywhere to refurbish the alloys I might have to buy a new set of alloys and tyres, If I wanted to put bigger wheels and tyres on what would be the limit don't want a monster truck, just to raise it up more and look better, any info would be grateful thanks.

1 week after handing my documents in at Buriram immigration for my extension based on marriage my wife had a call from the IO and was asked to bring 1 more photocopy of her ID card and 1 more copy of the kor tor even though we supplied 2 copies of everything, then 1 week later another call asking for a bank statement having now made 3 trips to immigration I have to return again in 2 weeks to obtain the extension it will be a total of 800k driving, I think it will be best to update my bank book on the way there or I could be clocking up 1000k, envious of you guys who live close to your immigration office.

I am not being pedantic here but playing devil's advocate. Under what regulations would they refuse the Extension if the 800k had been suitably seasoned for 3 months prior? The rules state the money must remain untouched for 3 months and then may be drawn down to a minimum of 400,000 baht during the 3-6 month period after the Extension is granted. Quite clearly!
I can give you 2 examples of why they refuse you on a extension, number 1 ,my mistake had the 800k in the bank thought it should be 2 months before immigration corrected me and said 3 months, held my hand up and said sorry I made a mistake then asked to pay a 12000b bribe to make things ok, so changed to marriage which they were not happy about that was 3 years ago since then every time I go to renew it they want something, or cause a problem and always f---- me around, this time I took all the documents according to the thai immigration site 2 copies of everything photos all the other stuff they ask for, one week later wife gets a call from them now they want a 3rd copy her ID card and another copy of the kor tor 2, I asked if we could fax them or post them as its a 200k round trip, no was the answer you have to bring them yourself, I think once you piss them off you may as well move to somewhere else
