Most banks take a fee if f.e. you have an account with Bangkok Bank in Chiang Mai and you withdraw cash from an ATM in Bangkok.
Here someone said that Krungsri takes no fee:

Hello,
I would like to open a second Thai bank account at a Krungsri branch, just to have an alternative if my main bank ever gives me any trouble.
I also have been told that Krungsri allows nationwide free Thai ATM withdrawals.
Which Krungsri branch in CM is most foreigner friendly?

My statement above was probably not correct.
One needs to dial *125*1# to activate international roaming on AIS before leaving Thailand.

I don't think that will help the OP.
AFAIK messenger will simply be the default app for receiving and sending SMS. But if the phone isn't receiving SMS through the SIM, there won't be any incoming SMS on messenger either.
So I believe this won't work for the OP.

I don't have a Thai ID and I was able to activate the True app.
AIS has roaming activated automatically according to my experience, but True you need to do it manually. I did it at the True airport booth. I had to insist, they were a bit reluctant to do it and tried to talk me out of it.
Could someone share the links for receiving True and Dtac SMS per app?

Well, when I went yesterday it was going very smoothly just as I described.
I obviously couldn't predict the troubles people might have had today.
Whenever you change a system - especially one built on scarcity - from appointment to walk-in some unforeseen growing pains might occur, since it is not easy to scale the logistics to an unknown, possibly overwhelming, demand.

I wanted to add that as long as one arrives before 3pm, it should be no problem, because at around 3pm they start winding down and at 4pm the staff goes home.

I arrived half an hour late but that was no problem.
I was quickly processed and got a number.
When my number was called I could enter the vaccination room and was assigned a seat. According to my observation, I was 60 numbers ahead of the last called number, and it took about 30 minutes until my number came up, so about two numbers per minute, maybe even slightly faster.
Once in the room I didn't have to wait long. The vaccination was done very professionally from a push cart tended by several hospital workers. I was even given a free glass of water.
I was given clear instructions before and after the jab. The Sinovac vaccination itself took about 30 seconds. Then I was given the date and time for my second vaccination appointment with Astra Zeneca exactly three weeks from the date of my first immunization.
After that I was asked to rest for around 30 minutes, and after maybe 15 - 20 minutes a health worker came by and took my blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level, and temperature. Everything was fine and they told me I can go now.
The whole thing was handled very efficiently and it was a very pleasant experience. I was positively surprised how smooth and well organized everything was handled.
Cudos to the health department who organized this event. I am very happy the Thai government kept its promise and I was able to receive a free Covid-19 vaccination. Thank you Thailand! ????

I got my first jab at McCoemick and brought my yellow book. They said "sure we can put it in."
I got it back with a handwritten line - no sticker, no stamp.
I asked for a stamp. They said "we can only give you the name stamp (in thai script) of the person vaccinating you."
I said "Ok", to have at least something semi official looking in the book and they stamped some Thai name in the book under the line they wrote.
-
Now also with charts.
One for Chiang Mai, another one for Thailand - new cases and 7 day average.

Hello,
I already have a yellow vaccination book for my yellow fever vaccination done 25+ years ago.
When I go to McCormick hospital can they enter my vaccination in it?
If not, where would I be able to get the entry after having received the vaccinations?

When I get vaccinated, can I ask them to enter the vaccination straight away in that yellow book?

Azimo is only cheaper when you are a new customer and benefit from zero fees on the first 2 transfers and their special introductory rate.
Wise used to have an offer like that too: First transfer zero fees.
Also many companies transfer in such a way that bank costs are incurred upon arrival. Wise transfers don't usually incur bank fees on the receiving end.

BTW, they don't transfer an "international driving license" far as I know. You need your original driving license as issued in your home country.
Any international driver's licence is only valid in conjunction with the national driver's licence. So you need both, but they mainly look at the international licence since it is designed to be more internationally comprehensible for people not native to the issuing country. It's expiration date is very important too.

The Department of Land Transport is not currently processing new licenses and renewals.
When it does again, DLT on Hang Dong Road at the end of the airport runway.
Thank you very much, your lordship!
Is there a web site where I can find out when they will reopen?
Is the paper stapled to my passport (TM30?) enough, or do I need a certificate of residence for my rented condo?

Hello,
my international driver"s license from Europe for cars and motorcycles expires in September.
Before it expires, I would like to use it to get a Thai driver"s license. I have a Non-O based on retirement, if that matters.
I live in the Mueang Chiang Mai Amphoe.
Which office would I need to go to? What would I need to do?
Is Covid an issue because offices may be closed or processes delayed?

Thumbs up for Bangkok Bank then, what mobile phone service provider do you use?
I use AIS. But I also have True, though not for banking.
It is important to know, that AIS seems to have international roaming activated by default, but True needs to be activated separately.
Also keep an eye on the validity of your cards.
Here is a tread about that:
-
It wasn't from a backup, banking apps usually don't like that.
It was a fresh install.

Set up abroad when changing to a new phone?
Yes, one of the phones was setup abroad. I know for sure because that's where I bought it and it was setup before I came back.

Here is a link to a spreadsheet that calculates the 7 Day Rolling Average per 100,000 inhabitants in Chiang Mai and Thailand and compares the two by calculating the ratio Thailand / Chiang Mai 7 day averages per 100.000, so you know how much worse or better Thailand is faring as compared to Chiang Mai.
I don't know if the spreadsheet will get updated.
I like to see the 7 day/100,000 average, since it gives a much better feel than just the raw total number and I wasn't able to find this data on the web before.

Best Krungsri Branch in CM?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
I thought with an ATM card from Krungsri any bank's ATM could be used. Is that not so?
