  1. Usually you need at least 10% free storage.

When your storage gets tight, Android will warn you.

There are some tricks that you can do to swap memory to the SD card.

If you have root, then "App2SD Pro" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd or Link2SD (second choice) can alleviate your problem considerably.

However if you don't exactly need a Samsung you can get a new quite usable phone with a lot of memory and a decent camera for around 3800 Baht https://s.lazada.co.th/s.WOCBc which might be more reasonable than fiddling around if you are not exactly an expert in these things.

If you live in Chiang Mai you can contact me for help.

  2. Where can I find the Corona numbers for Chiang Mai (in English :))?

I arrived a few days ago after quarantining in Bangkok, and I heard there was a big outbreak due to a covid hotspot.

Have the numbers decreased since then?

  3. Hello,

I want to fly to Bangkok on 22nd of April and am about to apply for a CoE in Berlin, Germany and I am a bit confused about the wording when opening

    https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/step?language=en

    (see screenshot).

According to my understanding, I only should/need to upload a pic of my Passport. Then wait for 3 days until I get news that they have processed the CoE application.

From that moment I have 15 days to upload my English language proof of insurance and proof of reservation for my ASP from Agoda and my flight reservations.

Then I will get my CoE approval and can fly.

Is that correct? I am concerned, because my insurance company said they will send me the letter one week ago, but it hasn't arrived. So I could apply now, and then add the insurance letter if I understand this correctly.

  4. A very good summary of extending validity for Thai SIM cards can be found here:

    https://medium.com/mobiletopup/prepaid-sim-validity-in-thailand-b4de14269238

There is one question which I haven't found an authoritative answer on: Do Thai SIM cards need activity to stay active?

Right now I send an SMS from the country I am in to a different mobile number in the same country every 60-90 days to keep my cards active.

I think this is needed for AIS, but it may not be needed for True - but I am not sure. If someone would have an authoritative answer, I would be happy to see it.

  5. AIS

For extending AIS I just topped up my phone number via my Thai's bank app. The minimum to extend validity 1 month is a 10 TBH top-up (can be done at the orange machines outside of 7-11s in Thailand), however my bank's minimum top-up amount is 20 baht.

So I made several 20 baht top-ups within minutes right one after another and confirmed each one with *121# which would then show me the new validity date. Worked perfectly to extend validity by 30 days each time.

I also made one 100 TBH top-up since I needed some more credit for roaming, and received 30 days validity extension only, same as the 20 TBH top-ups.

Would it help if you could do outwards passport stuff in Chiang Mai and then an airside transfer to the Lufthansa boarding gate?

Yes, that would probably help a lot. Great idea! Do you know details how to do that?

If I buy Thai Airways and LH ticket separately, can that be done or does it have to be one ticket?

  7. Hello,

I am planning to fly around 24th Mai Chiang Mai - BKK with a local airline and then BKK - FRA with Lufthansa the same day.

Would I need some kind of fit to fly certificate?

And since I will connect at BKK I guess I don't have to worry about going into quarantine upon arrival in BKK, right?

Are there any changes in luggage? I usually carry a lot of baggage, like a25 KG and a normal sized carry-on. Has any of that changed?

Anything else one should know or be prepared for? Airlines still serving normal food?

    Thanks for your comments.

  8. I don't think TVOC has anything to do with the burning.

It seems to be always high at night, in any city. Also when I loaned my meter to other people.

I am puzzled about it. It may have to do with our breathing or sweating? I don't really know.

Has anybody bought the non-original filters and what are your experiences?

  9. Hello,

I want to buy a replacement filter for the Xiaomi Mi 2s Air Purifier.

Now I saw on Lazada several different versions: Regular, Formaldehyde, Antibacterial, and also original Xiaomi filter replacements.

I have a separate TVOC meter and have noticed that wherever I sleep the TVOC at night is really high.

What kind of replacement filter would you recommend? Are the original Xiaomi ones better or would the Formaldehyde be best for me?

  10. Two friends of mine from the Philippines came to visit me in Chiang Mai on March 9th.

Their return flight is for March 24th, but since Manila is in state of lock down, it appears they would have to stay in Manila in a hotel until April 15th, when the lockdown is supposed to end to travel to their homes.

However they don't have the funds for that.

Also it is not clear if their flights have been or will be canceled.

So they might want to extend their visa.

Does that mean showing up at Chiang Mai immigration with 1900 TBH each,  papssport photo, and their passports and get a 30(?) day extension stamped into the passport within minutes?
