I would have thought of getting vaccinated if I were your age and had some sickness. But at 51 in not gambling with my life. I already have antibodies and I reccomend everyone to first check for antibodies before considering vaccines.

Statistically you are gambling far far more with your life, and with other peoples lives, by not being vaccinated...the word "selfish" comes to mind.

MedPark is probably one the largest vaccine distribution sites in Bangkok.  They are allocated more vaccine that most hospitals combined (according to a contact at Bumrungrad Hospital).  I would try there

first.  Bumrungrad supply is limited.  I was fortunate to receive my AZ in Samui.  No Side effects what-so-ever.  EXCEPT for when you walk amongst the population and they see that you’ve been vaccinated,

they treat you like a superstar! ????????‍♂️

How do people see that you have been vaccinated by walking around??

Yeah, when I went back and looked at my jab photo, one nurse taking the photo and the nurse giving the jab was doing it one handed and looking at the camera too.    Next time I'm just going to say I don't need a photo.   (so you can be looking at the injection site on my arm)

Huge credit to them though working through this.

Just had my jab at BNH Bangkok...no selfies in sight...

Exactly how would they test the long term effects of a vaccine that hasn't been around for a long term yet?

How many kids have been born to vaccinated mothers?  Any of them old enough to exhibit learning disabilities?

What is quite clear are the short term effects, and potential death, of being infected with COVID19 by not being vaccinated...the choice is yours. However, consider that you may be a carrier and may infect many others when making your choice.

Every situation in regards to a dowry will be unique.  I will try to keep it simple just in the interest of saving time.

Generally if she has been married before or has kids, there will not be a dowry.  If there is a divorce, you're not getting your money back.  Think of it as a gift to her family and just be willing to walk away from it.

If she is younger and/or has a University education with a decent job, the expectation for the dowry will likely be higher.

The subject of a dowry is a very sensitive topic to many foreigners who simply don't agree with it.  However, it is a very real practice in Thailand where even the Thai men will typically procure a loan to pay for the dowry and associated wedding ceremony.

My wife's friends from University have been getting married to the tune of 500,000 to 1,000,000 THB to Thai men.  These are just average looking girls with an education and a decent job.  You may be asked for more if the family gets greedy and see's you as a farang with a lot of money, it's very typical in the villages of Isaan.  However, if the family see's their daughter is happy and she is on your side, they may be willing to work with you on that.  It really depends, so many variables to this.

Regarding divorce I believe Thai law dictates everything that's been accumulated during in a relationship should be divided 50/50...simple. In practice I've no idea if it works.

I will be getting my pink ID card June 23. My GF got her blue house book, had never bothered with it before. I then paid an agent 1700 baht to do all the yellow book and accompanying documentation at the tessaban in Chiang Rai. According to the agent, it takes two weeks to get the card after submitting the paperwork.

Received my pink card on the spot after walking in (Huay Kwang, Bangkok office)...took 15 minutes. Perhaps the regions have to send the application off somewhere???

Thanks, it's all becoming clearer. The responses have helped me arrive at the conclusion that it's probably not worth the hassle having to go through the process for yellow book followed by ID card for the benefits they would provide ( i already have driving license, bank accounts etc.) My missus has also mentioned that if i sell the property i will have several more hoops to jump through to change the name in the yellow book.

Minimal hassle. Updating the house reg book is a quite simple process...and takes but a few minutes. My pink card was issued in 15 minutes also. I not experienced any wait time...done on the spot after walking in.

Well that was the one they quoted last week, dead already? not a surprise as they do not seem serious in making it easy to let us register at all -eg contact your local hospital to register 'we don't know anything about it' when you do, pathetic.

just opened that one it states they are updating it and to try again after 3pm

Money (tourism) trumps the welfare of the entire country as vaccines are diverted to Phuket.  Can we expect the same for Pattaya and other tourist hot-spots?  Some 76 year old Thai lady just gave up her vaccination to inoculate a 20 something bar-girl?

Some complain because businesses couldn’t open; you’re complaining because they will be able to. Can’t win can they. The recovery of the economy will depend on the whole country being open for business which depends on the total vaccines available, and the economy may recover quicker if provinces where the economy is bigger are done first the recovery could be quicker.

And when I visited three hospitals yesterday, and the local health office they all told me that foreigners cannot register until 1 July. It's a great article but what it says, in practice, is wrong.

I registered online at BNH website in Bangkok yesterday. They sent me the link after I sent them a LINE message requesting info. They asked to select Gov free or private (with a cost). No mention of releasing records to anyone.

    The US.
We would rag each other mercilessly.  Everyone had at least one demeaning nickname, insulting and poking fun at your friends was an art form - and no one I grew up with was ever emotionally devastated.  You rolled with the punches and gave back in equal measure to what your received.  Same same in the military.  Especially in the military.

True "bullying" was bashing the stuffings out of weaker people then yourself (or people you perceived as weaker then yourself).  Those type usually folded as soon as you stood up.  I've been there.  I was assaulted verbally for about a week by a guy in High School who put together a small gang to chase me around the school after hours.  Finally his larger younger brother smashed me in the face from behind while I was trying to walk away for them.  He got a couple of more shots in then i decked him.  They pulled him off the ground and that was it.  Nobody bothered me again.
That's bullying.  But name calling.  You gotta be kidding me.  I grew thick skin back at a young age.  Most of the kids I hung around with did.  Obviously you too.
    Nowadays?  Nancy-boys abound.  Sad.

Wow! You speak as if you are proud of that situation and social environment! If as you say it's quite normal there in the US then I'm beginning to understand the heinous rhetoric from the US over the last 4 years, especially from the so called "leader" during that time. I grew up in the U K and Australia, and never encountered such childish behavior amongst my peers. I do not recall ever encountering or witnessing bullying of any sort, physical or verbal. What a sad indictment of how social behavior has evolved into a twisted and uncivilised so-called normality.

I have thought ban is still only in bangkok (and samut sakhon), the rest of red provinces, and everywhere else, were lifted at the end of january.

if drinks at hotels are allowed all the punters will move there.

and bars and restaurants will follow and also demand lifting ban.

the way for hotels is improving their service and lowering prices. Guests will stay longer, and come back.

I still pay at my favourite places same as before pandemic, but only because they are exceptional and reasonable priced

Yes, high risk, high control areas only...as it states in the report
