Yes lets keep the country sealed off while the millions who depend on it continue to suffer the brunt of it endlessly waiting for a vaccine that is unlikely to come and certainly not anytime soon. For those wealthy enough to see it through, thats great but how about those who cannot?

So your idea would be what exactly? I assume you have a much better solution to curb the spread...maybe copy the UK perhaps...only 50,000 deaths there.

  2. Why the need to do anything...the place is packed already. There are already enough shopping malls that probably don’t generate as much revenue as Walking Street...

How about convert the malls into nightlife areas instead if they want more revenue.

Why can’t they just accept that Pattaya is NOT a world class FAMILY resort, and give up trying to make it one when it’s not necessary...there are plenty of other places in Thailand for families, but only one Pattaya. Many non “family tourists and expats” need the opposite of anywhere that is dominated by families.

It has zero chance of improving within one week , they should take a close look at how other countries are doing and act accordingly but a 24 hr lock-down is just ridiculous . The numbers will keep rising because people just kept ignoring social distancing as well as Thai returning from infected countries and spreading the virus .

other countries?...like China maybe?  ...and Italy, Spain, USA, UK, Australia, South Africa maybe...all have and have overtaken the number of Thailand cases long ago. Which countries have succeeded so far...and exactly how did they do it?

Which countries would you recommend to copy? Ok

I know Songkran has been cancelled but if people travel home anyway , then this figure will rise dramatically a few weeks after the holidays regardless of whether  people splash water around or not.

The holidays themselves should be deferred and people discouraged from traveling home to visit elderly relatives.

    THe holidays have been cancelled

  6. "Sources said the officer had contracted the virus while on duty despite taking precautions like wearing a face mask". This continuing obsession with face masks is amazing. When will Thai officials understand that a mask is NOT the primary preventative measure to protect oneself. Immigration officials are handling passport and visa documents from every person coming through. Those documents have been touched multiple times by their owners and airport officials, any one of whom may be already infected from any of multiple sources like aircraft seats, arm rests, aircraft meals and packaging, car, bus, taxi door handles, staircase banisters, escalator hand rails, rest room taps, handles, baggage handles, ATM keypads, immigration bio-metric screens, money notes & coins etc. etc. Unless the official is absolutely vigilant in NOT touching his face ever, prior to disinfecting his hands, then he is open to contracting the disease by handling material from thousands of different people daily. Furthermore if he is wearing a mask then the mask itself is also liable to be infected by touching the mask for the same reasons. Masks are NOT recommended by government and medical bodies in other countries, and in fact the opposite message is being delivered i.e. the message is categorically "do NOT wear masks!", but wash your hands frequently with soap and water, and do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth.

  7. Why worry about immigration fingerprint scanners? How about railings, banisters, door handles, armrests, ATM keypads, lift buttons, taxi door handles, your own baggage handles, taps, passports, tickets, boarding passes, money...notes and coins? Everything is being touched by thousands of people before yourself! The key is to repeatedly wash/disinfect your own hands, and do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth.

And at what price are they selling this food bash ? If it's the same as in Monaco, NYC or London not worth...

So go to Monaco, NYC or London. I'm sure supply and demand will dictate the price at the event. As with anywhere prices are driven by overhead costs. If your budget is street food prices where the vendors overheads are minimal go eat there. It's not compulsory to attend.

Statistics need to be qualified to have any meaning. Hua Hin is a small town, and I suspect readings are taken at maybe 1 or 2 stations located in the town centre, possibly close to the 2 central main traffic junctions. I live in Hua Hin at the weekends, 3 k due west of the Airport before the hills. I can't wait to step out of the car coming from Bangkok, and to breath the clear, fresh, scented air around my neighbourhood. Indeed, recently I've noticed on several occasions being able to see far more stars at night than I've ever seen before.

I agree 100%. Now tell my neighbours, officials and such. They wonder why i scare them back and its putely because of the amount of cash ive splashed out here over the decades. I dont want special treatment but would like my family not have to be raided checking for drugs and guns or have tourist police out to check all because my inbred neighbours feel inferior and have to act like children and lie to authorities in the hopes of being booted out of the country because my neighbours think they are going to get our farming machinery, land and such.

Crazy but true! And no i dont have guns or drugs but thats what ive had to deal with this past year. Insane!

Whats worse you can have video evidence and make countless police reports of fake police reports made and even the police believe us but no action is taken and this is why it doesnt change. It's embarassing to Thailand. If i was in a better financial situation i would hav3 left already. One things for sure though and that is my family stopped coming many times a year years ago because they dont feel safe.

Glad I don’t live where you do. I feel very safe in Thailand.

So they seriously think that when I go in there and take out 6 bottles of beer from the refrigerator, bring it up to the counter in a red basket and pay for it, that I am going to be able to carry it out without a bag? I've only got 2 hands guys...

I have around 50 umbrellas because I can't be bothered to carry one of those around, and I have to buy it everytime. You think I'm going to carry around a bag just to buy beer?  These guys have lost the plot. 7-11 is supposed to be for convenience. If it is inconvenient for me, I ain't gonna pay their premium prices, and I'm sure not going to pay for a useless cloth bag every time. If I have to put in the effort to plan for a shopping trip, I definitely won't plan to pay premium prices at a 7-11.

If CP had even a lick of sense, they'd be fighting the government on this policy rather than capitulating. It is going to kill their business model.

Get used to planning ahead...like people used to before plastic bags were invented.

I bet virtually every last person reading this does not PLAN all their 7-11 shopping....

So we carry bags around we us 24/7 now?

Are you advocating to keep using single use plastic??? Habits will have to change...I noticed in Hong Kong and Australia that plastic bags are not used in 7/11s and the queues are still there.  People adapt quite readily when they have to, and for the better.

  14. It's unsafe to attempt a repair to that. They can repair scratches, but not structural damage. Claim on your car insurance, that's what it's for. I've done it 5 times so far in the last 5 or 6 years, sometimes for scratches, sometimes for structural damage. I've caused damage by catching the curb once or twice, and other times the wheel has become slightly non-circular and slightly out of balance because of constant battering on uneven Thai roads. The last 2 claims were for mags at 40,000 Baht each.
