  1. Honestly I’m not trying to assume more than was said, I’ve had a couple of goes at answering the question you yourself asked: Go on tell us who you are referring to. Don’t be so coy.
  2. And yet here you are excusing Abass’ deliberately offensive and inflammatory remarks that have their roots in the very same lies and hate that gave rise to the Holocaust, the root causes of which he so disgracefully mis represents. What are we to make of that?
  3. Who are these people of principle you are referring to? Are they abhorred by Abass’ deliberately offensive and inflammatory statements or are they trying to excuse them?
  4. We should have a thread on ‘Ben Gvir’, this isn’t it. And there is no excuse for Abass’s deliberately offensive and inflammatory remarks. His remarks are long held. Your attempts to excuse his deliberately offensive and inflammatory remarks are noted.
  5. If they were born in the US they are American Citizens. Are you talking about immigrants to America who have acquired US Citizenship? Why so coy?
  6. Oh those ‘unspecified reasons’. The only relevance in this discussion is Abbas’ deliberately offensive and inflammatory remarks. Unless of course one wishes to offer excuses for his overt antisemitism. Not being an ‘excusionist’ I’m inclined to judge the man on his words. He’s handed the extremists in Israel a political gift and they will use it to their advantage.
  7. Not at all thin skinned. But when a person resorts to ad hominem they are both and at once, in breach of community rules and declaring they are out of rational arguments. Play the ball, not the man.
  8. You’ve been at ‘The Elders of Zion’ again. Basically offering a crude distillation of Abbas’ deliberately offensive and inflammatory statement.
  9. I’m not deflecting from the core reason(s) for the conflict. The reason(s) got the conflict are not the topic of discussion. Refer top of the thread for a clue what the subject of discussion is.
  10. Nevertheless pure whataboutary. You can of course request a thread on the topic, meanwhile you’ll find the subject of this thread at the top.
  11. You just can’t help yourself.
  12. Take it up with Cory1848. I don’t agree with everything Cory1848 says, but I don’t need to twist his words into something he never said.
  13. Ah, whataboutary raises its dull head.
  14. That’s some twisted reading of his comment.
  15. While I do think it’s a false equivalence, many Israelis and Jews outside of Israel do support the idea that Irael has a unique historical position to speak up for human rights and the rights of others to nationhood and self determination. Israel is not a homogeneous political entity there is a broad political spectrum ranging from the extremist nationalists through to liberals supporting peace and engagement. Sadly Abbas has just handed the extremists political ammunition that they will use in their arguments agains Palestine and peace with Palestine.
  16. From the OP: The German ambassador to Israel, Steffen Seibert, added: "The Palestinians deserve to hear the historical truth from their leader, not such distortions." I wouldn’t argue deliberately offensive and inflammatory lies serve any positive purpose to Palestinian internal politics or the furtherance of the Palestinian cause. They certainly feed right into the hands of extremists within Israel. Zero positive for Palestinians.
  17. Understand this about Trump supporters. If Trump had made a statement singing the praises of EV cars and policies to host their uptake, the Trump supporters on this forum would be on here raving about how good EVs are. It’s why they present so many hollow arguments, they are parroting the cult line.
  18. And yet here we have Abbas feeding hate with deliberately offensive and inflammatory remarks.
