  1. I was just thinking the same thing. I was planning on taking a trip to Thailand but I'll wait. Is it a requirement to carry your vaccination proof with you when you go out and about? How will they know when you had your vaccination? Regardless of the requirement, I'm not going there. If I know beforehand or requirements, price etc I won't go anywhere where the requirements for foreigners are different than the Thai's.
  2. Yeah 10% of people that supposedly have 2 covid injections and tested before departure. But in 24 hours they have a breakthrough case and get covid? Sounds like a high ratio to me. 1 person in every 1,000. Should be more like 1 every 25,000. I wouldn't be surprised if some official is running a scam. Recently there was a foreigner living in Thailand who sued a hospital for being double or triple charged for medical treatment. At the moment he lost the case. The Judges reason was it was okay to charge foreigners more because it was "Good for the Thai Economy." I wouldn't be surprised if something like that was happening now.
  3. 25,000 tourists, 26 tourists tested positive. That seems like a high ratio. I wonder if there isn't something being reported such as some were Thai's returning and were not vaccinated etc.
  4. You need to decide what you want to do. That will dictate what you need to do next. Stay and fight or just leave. Only you know what you will put up with and what your financial status is. Stay and fight then get an Attorney. It may cost you money but it'll cost him as well. Things that could happen here are 1. you could get to stay until the contract is up. 2. Maybe he will pay some or all for your move. 3. He could send some thugs around to screw up your life. Your other option it to leave. Perhaps you and the landlord could come to an agreement where he would cover part of the cost but if not just leave. I would let everyone on every website I could know that he's not someone to do business with but I doubt that would do any good then you might have to worry about Thailands defamation law.
  5. How many Thai's were polled. The last poll discussed on here the poll was 4 days and only around 1,363 responded.
  6. It's the U.S.'s fault. If they weren't there it never would have happened.
  7. The poll is misleading. The poll ran for 4 days, 1392 people responded. There are around 69,983,000 people living in Thailand.
  8. Tourists arrive, get tested. Every 5th person tested gets a positive result and spends weeks in a ASQ facility. Hmmmmm
  9. I had someone give me a sob story in front of the flipper house. Norway guy said his money was stolen and he had to move out of his hotel, he just wanted enough money to get to his embassy in bangkok. Gave him about 300 baht. A year later I saw him acting lost and confused on Pratumnak hill. I mentioned to first encounter but he said I must be mistaken. A few weeks later I saw him behind Big C extra doing the same old thing. I mentioned the previous two encounters. He disappeared. A few weeks later I saw him around the north end of 2nd road with some other foreigners. I didn't say anything I just kept walking. Gave a Russian man money for a joint business. He was supposed to pay the initial money back. The business went bust he disappeared. Found out later he forged a signature. Did a joint bar business with an American. He sold the business and didn't pay me back. Found out later he forged a locals signature. I had him charged and after court he went to jail for a year of what was supposed to be 2.5 years. He got out but may have been put back in over the incident. I invested in a legit investment with a company called emerging trends who guaranteed the investment with some of their real estate. The investment I got involved in went bust. Emerging trends didn't use their real estate holdings to pay their investors. Although they are trying to recover money it's been 2 years since last payment and they don't answer email asking for updates. I won't give anyone money in Thailand again but as for people just asking for money I've found that the Thais are the worst at asking for money. I've given a few money with their stated promise to pay back. They never did, going on 5 years now. Then again I have American friends that don't pay back. I've had to make a personal policy of not loaning anyone money.
  10. A few months ago I read where someone else asked the same question. The answer was each vehicle was manufactured to burn a certain octane fuel. Uses a higher could damage your vehicle. As mentioned, that was a few months ago and I don't know where that article is. I did a search this morning and found that mostly there isn't really any benefit if you use a higher octane. 1. A car that does not require premium gas may not have any added benefits: Using premium gas in a regular car will cost you more with almost no added benefits. The Federal Trade Commission says that using a high-octane gasoline rather than a recommended one will offer almost no benefits. It will not make your engine perform better or faster. 3. Cars with Turbochargers or heavier cars need premium If your car is a regular one that does not have turbochargers or is not a heavy engine car, using a premium gas will only waste your money. As the cars that are heavy or have turbochargers have higher compression ratios, they knock without premium fuel. Therefore, using premium in older cars is necessary rather than regular cars. There are no visible side effects or benefits of using premium gas in a regular gas car. However, if you want to use premium gas in your regular car, ask automobile experts about this. People put premium gas in a regular gas car for better car performance and handling, but in very rare case this is the outcome. With appropriate maintenance tips and regular check-up for your car, you can certainly improve its performance and longevity to multiple folds. So do what is right for your car.
  11. In America people have been getting injections for around 8-9 months. We're are just now being told a booster shot is needed and being given to people with certain health conditions and the elderly. It's my understanding Thai's have only been able to get a vaccination for a few months so why is she getting a third injection so soon? Could be the vaccine she is getting I suppose but it seems a waste of one when someone else could need.
  12. Over the past 30 years I've traveled to 21 counties, lived in 5. I've never been asked for my book. I disagree with who said this is just a record. It clearly says this may be used to travel.
