SMH, are you new to Thailand, tuk tuk mafia know that they have "friendly " cops, in their pocket.
Everyone is not out to get you. Relax. Your tin foil hat is about to fall off.

But do you really think that if someone assaults someone that it is grounds for deportation? Really?
Without a doubt

The guy is guilty of being an a-hole with violent tendencies. Now detained by police. Indefensible. Sorry, thanks for playing.

Actually, I've read several times over the years Thais doing exactly that, when their illegal activity has been topped by the illegal activity of another party. It happens when they are so accustomed to being crooks, they don't even recognise that what they are doing themselves is illegal. I'd suggest that many taxi/tuk tuk drivers in Phuket might fall into that category.
The knucklehead tourist has now been detained by police... guilty as sin (and should be deported). He knows it (which is why he refused to show voluntary), everyone knows it.

Yeah. I'm sure it was a scam, that's why he went to the police 🙄 because you always involve the police when your swindle fails. That makes sense 😂 Beer swizzling foreign tourist with a propensity for violence must be given the benefit of the doubt 😂 then he declines to show up at the police station when summoned, so he was surely the victim of a scam 😂

She can certainly apply, but unless the process is a joke, I suspect she gets denied.

Tourist was robbed.
Tourist was well within his rights to slap the slimy tuk tuk driver about.
bob.
Based on what? Did you see the full video (ThaiRath32 played it in full). Brit choked the driver over a fare dispute.

Summoned to the police station for an assault 😂 Press charges, have police go to his hotel and arrest him. Video is irrefutable. Another dirt bag tourist... And the best goes on.

I love it when folk are in denial after reading an erroneous headline, in spite of the evidence.
One can only assume that you are a troll-fol-de-rol.
Why are you so invested in making sure everyone reacts in-kind to a particular news article? I can only assume you are garden variety overbearing prick. All my INITIAL comment said was that this very same situation "as reported" (regardless of this particular report's veracity) happened on the Oyo platform. That's it. Nothing more. Christ. Get over yourself.

if you read or heard about it while still living in the UK you would not believe it
Well, it's been in affect 70 years... Since the 1950s. In this day in age, it's hard to believe that that many people don't understand their own benefits. Maybe if one hears or reads something (even if suspect) that's potentially concerning it's time to do one's own due diligence. Live and learn.

Another Title reader and commenting before reading the story .
Just read the thread title and make a comment without knowing anything at all about what happened
I did read the story, <snip>
"On arrival, he found that the supposed one-bedroom house was in fact just a small roadside shop."
Shared a similar experience somone had on Oyo. You self-important comment police are not only sad, but useless. And no one asked you to do it. Pissoff.

This happened to someone I know who used the Oyo platform to book a room... The hotel didn't exist. Seems like a new Thai scam... Put an address on the platform that isn't really a hotel and take reservations (paid in advance).

For sure, not the sharpest tool in the shed (but certainly a tool)... police record plate numbers when they lock up a motorbike... he's going to be caught, and regret, the now even steeper, fines and penalties. Let's hope he also gets deported 🤞

Its only because of the Thaivisa forum that most people are now aware of the situation. We are lucky we have other means.

Makes no difference. The car was at fault. It turned directly (right) into on coming traffic. End of story.

Car's at fault 💯% made a left turn right in front on the motorcycle (who had the right of way). This is undisputable. Even if the bike was over the limit. It wasn't by more than 10 kilo. Idiot foreigner rents a Merc and now is on the hook for damages. Good. Glad the motorcycle rider was not injured. Much to do about nothing. As the rider has not hurt.

The era of the "free shot" woman once enjoyed in the pre-combat sports trained, female MMA, female body building world is fastly closing. You want to throw hands, then be prepared to take a hit. You see these women taking closed fist, palm strikes or hammer fist shots at men, and thinking ain't nothing should happen to them are diluted. Everyone needs to show constraint, and not over react whenever things start to be physical (especially the men, when larger - which excludes most Thai men), but any "badass acting" women who is not a badass, might just end up on their ass when initiating assaults they can't close.

At 30+ million per year... There is in affect 1 new tourist landing in Thailand every second of every day of the year... If they cared about over tourism they'd have done something about it long ago. Their just mad the tourist don't spend more money, and are now destroying the environment and infrastructure. With little effort to repair or improve the situation. Until they stop building new hotels and resorts, this problem only gets bigger. Pattaya and Phuket are lost. It's too late now.
