  1. There's a gym/swimming pool near On Nut soi 46 adjacent to the Mormon Church. The pool's quite good/big. I've never been to the gym (upstairs).

I like that gym, for the fact that the staff are super friendly, the equipment is generally old but solid. Can't go super heavy with the free weights but they are ok and it's only 80baht per session! I think you can pay 1k for unlimited use per month. Oh the cardio machines are pretty crap though but that doesn't bother me!

  2. I think due to the lack of responses would indicate a big no unfortunately! As far as I'm aware the nearest parks to the On Nut area are Suan Luang Rama 9 park, this is behind Paradise Park (a shopping centre not a park!) on Srinakarin Rd. Along the bts there is Benjarsi next to Emporium and a bigger and quieter park is the Benjakiti Park, a 5 minute walk from Asoke bts. Personally I quite like this park due it's size and it doesn't feel like you're in the centre of Bkk.

  3. Thanks for the constructive and some not so constructive replies guys!

Synthetic oil sounds like the way forward as the bike has 15k on it now. I never knew that getting rid of it would be an issue, but now my missus and her friends will have no excuse for a "naked oil wrestling competition" every 6 months!w00t.gif

  4. I've found Thai Nakarin Hospital near Central Bang Na to be not too cheap but not too expensive. Usually pretty good service, doctors etc. Camillian hospital in Thonglor is in a similar vein (excuse the medical pun).

My experiences of Bumrungrad and Samitivej in Phrom Pong have been excellent facilities, doctors etc but very expensive!

  5. I've done this trip many times in rush hour traffic (usually on a Friday)! I would recommend getting the San Saeb canal to just before the Royal Pavillion (about half a kilometer from KSR). To get to the canal from Sukhumvit get off at Chitlom Bts, walk past Gaysorn until you come to the bridge and walk across the bridge and turn right down the steps. When you get off the boat at the Royal Pavillion, just get a motorbike taxi for around 50baht or a 10 - 15min walk to Ko San. Easy and the canal journey is quite fun if a little dodgy!

  6. We are looking for motivated, talented and highly professional individuals to work with our growing team of Business Development Sales Executives in the Bangkok area. 7. I've never been to Ko Lanta but in my experience Ko Chang is generally a much nicer experience than Samui. People are friendlier (especially in the south of the island), there are a good variety of things to do and some of the beaches are spectacular. The nightlife has also developed in recent years (though nothing compared with Samui's) and there is even a nightclub in Whitesands now!

  8. Just to let you guys know that we got a big Toyota Innova to take four peeps and a fair bit of luggage from Bkk to Ko Chang. This cost us 4000baht, which is 1000baht per person and pretty good value for a door to door service! It only took us 4hours to reach Ko Chang too, whereas I'm sure any bus would be a lot slower albeit a lot cheaper! Now excuse me I'm going for another swim.... biggrin.png

  9. I stayed at Imm Fusion recently. Good location (right by On Nut bts) and loved the decor of the "Moroccan style" courtyard and reception area. Rooms were ok, nothing to write home about. Cost not too bad around 1000baht for a standard room.

I think there may be some cheaper places down soi 81 that you can pay per day. There is also a hotel on On Nut soi 10 that has recently had a face lift, but not sure of the cost.

Green Bells hotel in soi 79 is quite nice (http://www.thegreenbells.com/onnut/english/promotion.htm) not particularly budget though.

  10. My advice would be to take up a sport. Be it football, badminton, squash whatever. You will find like minded people, probably some who drink and some who don't.

Since I have seriously cut down my boozing, I have been doing boxing, squash, swimming and hitting the gym much more often than when I was drinking regularly as I have much more free time (not spent drinking) as well as very few hangovers!

  11. Cheers for the info Rgs. I mean Pranburi not Hua Hin. I guess it would be about 2,500baht all the way to Pranburi then...

I was thinking about flagging a taxi down in the street but am not sure how keen they would be to go there.
