The GF heard this and stated "What the hell are they thinking". "Might as well start testing at Makro, and entrance to the parks"
Just saw a post in a Fakebook forum by a guy saying he arrived in Chiang Mai and was told by hotel staff that he could only use the pool if he could show proof of test within the last seven days. The common folk of Thailand seem to be getting creative in coming up with ways to use the facade of public health concern to impose new restrictions on farangs. So, keep watching for something like this at your local Makro.

Yesterday the link provided did not work (as I guess many of you discovered). Today the link did lead to a page where my birthdate was correct but my arrival date was one day off. It did not ask me to correct my vaccination dates. After I corrected the information, it gave a link with instant approval of my pass.

I worry that Actual Tourists may try this and get so frustrated they start badmouthing Thailand which can't be good for the industry especially if it gets the attention of the media.
Hmmm....I wonder exactly how frustrating and complicated it has to get before the effect of putting off actual tourists achieves equalibrium with the amount of desire of the tourists to come and then the arrival number becomes exactly the number of us who are getting back to wives, gf's, and homes in Thailand?

I submitted applications a second time so that I would receive the Access Code. When I checked the status of their applications, one of them came back saying there wasn’t an application with that Access Code, Passport, and email combination. So I did that application again and was able to confirm that the application was under review. When I tried to submit an application again for that last family member to provide what I came to believe were better documents for the insurance and the Test & Go package purchase, the application was rejected with a message saying I had already submitted two applications. I’ll wait until I get rejections or QR codes before I try again.
They are making it really, really, really difficult and confusing to try to travel to Thailand. If I weren't trying to get back to my wife and home in Bangkok, I would have already given up. They are absolutely killing any chance of getting actual tourists to come.

Just wait a few days. Probably will happen.

Considering that in the USA today there is 47 million active cases of COVID and lots of Americans still
dying each day, but since there are still tons of anti vaxxers who want their freedom, more than life,
the USA has lots of vaccines available to send abroad, before the vaccines expire.
Sadly there are still tons of anti vaxxers in Canada who need their freedoms as well.
Lots of hospitals in the USA and some in Canada that are still cancelling operations because there
are not enough beds and staff to do operations, because of so many people with COVID are filling up the
ICU parts of the hospitals. And that's the rest of the story.
Geezer
According to the Worldmeter chart, the U.S. currently has 9 million active cases...

Actually, they really are going to start doing these fines as described...but, only after they start fining motorcycle riders for riding on the sidewalks and fining Thais (not just farangs) for not wearing helmets.

Thailand cars are less safe than those in other countries ?
The cars themselves are. Driven by Thai drivers on Thai roads, they aren't.

Government does not want the proletarian to buy cars. Roads are digested already.
About 8 years ago they had that government program to reduce interest rates for car loans and quite a lot of people did get cars at that time. This made traffic worse, esp in urban areas. I don't think it made roads safer. The key to road safety: enforcement of road safety laws. That doesn't look like it will happen any time soon in Thailand.

Really? So when the laws are enforced what is the penalty for these offenders? You don't really think that they are just released with no fine every time, do you?
Right now the penalty for these risk-taking riders on dangerous roads with no enforcement is often death (as it was three times over in this case). So, I suggest something less than the death penalty so that would be an improvement. The discussion is pointless, though. Thai police will never enforce traffic laws (unless you are a farang who they expect can pay a big fine).

I'm for that. However, cars in Thailand aren't a lot safer than bikes and for the same reasons: Absolutely no enforcement of road safety laws. It's Mad Max rules. If you can do it, it's legal.

What doesn’t exist is enforcement - the Police and those in positions of decision making power enable the continued road deaths with an absence of enforcement.
It seems ‘additional tolerance’ is afforded to the poor as they lack alternatives for transport and don’t have money to pay for fines for not wearing a helmet - its almost as if people in positions of decision making power don’t care - well, not almost, they just don’t.
They don't care. I get it that the poor have fewer transportation options. But, it's more about their not having money for fines. It's always about money, never about public safety. But, if laws are enforced, not many actually pay fines. So, it doesn't harm them much. I'm 53 and have been riding motorcycles since I was 16. You know how many times I have put more than one extra person on my bike? Zero. How many of my friends do I know who have ever done that? Zero. Because it's stupid and we believe in the U.S. it would be enforced. So, counting me and my rider friends, we have combined paid exactly zero dollars in fines ever.

Very sad. How about a rule (that is enforced) that limits the number of people on one motorcycle to no more than two?

When are you travelling? They are processed by travel dates. Urgent first
Traveling on 11/26/21. Since I hadn't gotten my pass in seven days, I re-applied. Now just got the first one and second one is in review. So, I suppose the second one will likely get approved and cancel the first (per reports of such). I'll take print-outs of both qr codes just in case.

Come to think of it, the option of Thailand proposing a 500 Baht Hospitalisation Fee for each arrival looks very attractive in this situation. Furthermore, all visitors don't have to worry about insurance requirement for their Thailand Pass application. Win-win for all.
I didn't think that the proposed 500 Baht fee was for that purpose.

FYI: I applied for a visa via the e-visa portal on November 5 and just got notice is was approved today. Was able to log in with no server errors (using Chrome on an iMac).

You'd need to buy a fly out from Thailand within 30 days (or is it 29 ?) after arrival so that the immigration let you go through.
That's literally what the Thai embassy told me yesterday on the phone and telling me that their e-visa system was broken and i will probably not get my visa on time.
TBH i already knew that trick but i was just surprised to hear it from the embassy.
The e-visa system is broken?

Is Thailand Pass dead? Applied November 5 and no word back yet.
How many applications can they manually review in a day and how big is their backlog now?
-
Any recent reports of how many have applied and how many have been processed so we can have a sense of the size of the backlog? How many can they manually review per day? I'm worried they ended up with an ever increasing backlog that they now can't manage. I travel in a few days and no pass yet.

I applied November 5th. Got confirmation email. Nothing since.

I didn't have any "issues submitting" my application. My issue is that they have not approved my application. Has been seven days.

And their lack of clarity and communication is causing us to apply multiple times which means their backlog is getting bigger and bigger each day. How many can they manually review and approve/reject in a day? How many tens of thousands are in their backlog now? Not seeing such reports now.
