The discussion was about wearing a mask, surely opening the window and breathing all over a Thai policeman without a mask is the first consideration. Then take back your licence, put it down, and employ hand sanitizer.
Avoid any problem all together by NOT opening the window, Police can see the licence through my glass.

I agree , but refusing to obey a police instruction will expose you to a huge risk
That depends for example we have a RED box on our house, for those that dont know the Police get some of their funding through this illegal practice whereby ( more or less protection money) you pay them 1000 baht a month to "help" you with any problems at your address. If I get any problems with the Police I call "our man" he deals with it on our behlaf, its helped on a few occasions over the years.

And some are their own worst enemies. They do not have the right to make up the national laws they are expected to live by though do they?
Simply bull headed obstinance in these circumstances.
Some maybe but Ill stick to what I thinks safe based on reason , wearing a mask in a car with only yourself in their or even the Wife is ridiculous, I mean Ill be shagging her later, do I need to wear the mask then or only if its out on the land 20 rai walled not open to the public after all I would be outdoors.

They could but they don't, and refusing to obey a police request is not a wise thing to do
Depends how much you value your life with covid and opening a window is inviting in Covid, just think how many people they will have had contact with in an evening of stops.

Now just think at those police checkpoints when they ask to see your license how many driving licenses they touch
Again that's unnecessary they could just LOOK at it even through the window if they didn't have 100% black tint.

Heard from 'a friend in Itaoly the other day, she caught it and her Husband, they are devout mask wearers and hand washers, she had no symptoms he ended up 20 days in hospital. I find this interesting Id love to know why some people remain with no symptoms or almost none and others end up dead. Maybe genetics has a role to play in which case identifying who is susceptible would be great. neither of them have any other health issues not over weight and both 50 yrs old.

Why does every single rule and regulation have to be justified to you? Same as the seat belt, put it on.
Because some people do have the ability to think for themselves rather than blindly obey.

Drove through a police road block the other week, I got stopped wound the window down the police told me to wear the mask,
I would refuse to wind the window down, why invite in unnecessary contact. And how stupid is wearing a mask in your car anyway, they just blindly follow their orders.

if you leave your home in these provinces you wear a mask properly (not under the chin.)
But is that EXACTLY what the law says? I could literally wear it on my arm to comply if it said wear a mask.

I like the way its stated as if its a new thing a new idea to help out at this time when clearly they furked it up weeks ago,no apology for the huge downtime and even their own announcement it would be working earlier. despite a lot of posts on their facebook page from Thais and foreigners. Rumour has it BKK immigration was making a fortune out of fines for late reports/non reports.

I am sure many others will like to know also. ????
Very easy to do if you have room on the board they just clip on the din rail.

Does anyone have any insight into this? Is there a real danger or is this being over exaggerated?

This guy needed to be arrested because of his antisocial behaviour.
A Thai guy waved a machete at me today whilst driving , lets see how the local Police deal with that, Id call that rather antisocial.

How can you call somewhere a dump that you have not been for 35 years ?
The suburb I live in in Sydney was a dump 35 years ago. Now it’s fully gentrified and one of the most popular places in the city.
Guess what, I still have some friends there.

Instead of marching them up and down in the playground and dressing them up as nurses and boy scouts and reciting how great the nation and all that <deleted> why not introduce compulsory swimming lessons like we had when I was at school.

My God, you are brave or crazy, most of them have a gun and a lot less than that to set them off.
No I'm just not a pushover won't stand for bullying or intimidation, I've reported the cretin to the Police, I should have just ran the $ucker over and claimed fear of my life or something. Here's the friendly fella, my Police redbox 1000 baht a month comes in useful at times like this when you want them to actually do something. If they dont they lose their 1000 baht a month income they've had for the last 8 years.
Briefly I was at the front of the queue waiting to turn right at traffic lights one lane is turn right only the rest are straight on, Mr impatient me first was 4 cars behind in a White Suzuki small lorry "Carryvan" and as the lights changed he pulled out into the straight on lane then tried to cut me off almost hitting me then declaring his rage at not being able to push his way in sounded his horn then proceeded to try and pass me at a busy Tesco and into oncoming traffic, could easily have run someone over and finally tried to push me off the road . I was behind another car and stopped, he leapt out waving his machete.
Police man who comes to our land already told me from the number plate they are bad people. He will follow it up. This is a compressed copy the original is much sharper, I recommend everyone driving in Thailand gets a dash cam front and rear because some Thais are very fond of lying. It will probably go nowhere, let's see.
I didn't have to do much pointing at the Police station, they copied all the video and photos, wrote it all up and I signed it.

In a car your windows is the face mask.
On a m/c your helmet visor is a face mask.
And if stopped by the Police I would not wind my window down.

Well at least we can agree on something, some rules are ridiculous, I dont disagree about mask wearing but under this circumstances its nonsense. Just like wearing a mask while swimming.
