Well - looks like you're in denial or suffering from cognitive dissonance - your answer shows you see you life in terms of race.
No, but if you want to speak as though race DOESN'T EXIST, you're the one in huge denial. Once again you're just shooting down your own comments with your self unawareness.... ????
I really did want to ignore you, but this is just too funny....

you remind me of the paranoid old farangs I've met in bars entries and public places etc., they show little understanding of Thailand and just think everyone is conspiring against them. Basically their dearly held racist views suggest they should be superior and they spend their time compensating for the obvious fact they aren't. This normally takes the form of endlessly negatively stereotyping Thai people and using wild generalisations, all from a point of gross ignorance. Of course Thai people sense this - they are often right about "dirty" too.
It is a sad fact that your self-obsessive feelings of thwarted superiority will mean you will never integrate into Thai society..... and never learn
You're actually a walking apology for racism. I have no problem at all with Thais, nor with all the Indians and Filipinos I worked with for many years in the UAE. You see, we're not actually talking about me. Anyway, as I said, I'm done with trying to point out your errors.

there's stupid, stupider and then there's racist.
This is neither racist nor Xenophobia.
the restriction apply to non- Thais regardless of race creed or colour. Xenophobia is a fear of foreigners and this policy is not motivated by fear - possibly a misplaced national;ism, which is common amongst military-based regimes.
Oh really? A country where the people in charge, that make the rules, talk about 'dirty farang? You're being wilfully blind, whilst ridiculously accusing posters here of racism because they talk about the xenophobia (possibly racism, I already explained the overlap between the two words) which you yourself admit exists in societies of this type, proudly exhibited as nationalism: 'we're better than every other race'....
If dual pricing was just to allow poor Thais to visit, it should also charge better off Thais a higher price, not just foreigners. Others have pointed out that nowhere in Western countries would such a policy be allowed , as it would 100 percent be considered racist.
I'm done with you now, you're just rehashing the same lame words again and again to different commenters here. You're blind and wish to remain so. Up to you.

Sorry, this is dumb. White people can be racially discriminated against, and for them to call it out is NOT racist. What are you talking about?
Anyway if a person is xenophobic, they also are by definition racist, just against every 'foreign' race. The only slight distinction possible is the dictionary definitions, fear is not necessarily hatred, but the two do go hand in hand very often, and the words are often used interchangeably, even by the media .

Durian ice cream
A five star hotel in Singapore had it on their Sunday brunch buffet once. I was really surprised. Not as strong an aroma as the fruit itself, but the lady I was with has a very sensitive nose, she actually picked it up from across the restaurant.

I've heard this before but ignored it. Maybe I should pay attention to the science in future.
Waiting to see a film in the Odeon Leicester Square in London long ago, I bought a durian in Soho's Chinatown to eat later. I had it tightly double wrapped in two plastic bags, one over another, seemed airtight. After a while on my seat, you could smell it two rows forward and back. Luckily daytime cinema, and hardly anyone in. ????

It seems she is not actually guilty of anything.....yet.
It would seem she had his permission to access and use those items.
Once returned, lesson learned, hopefully!
The sex thing, who says it was her, could've been the brother and his gf. All speculation.
He gave her permission for safebreaking and jewellery theft, no doubt....
Started on the Chang a bit early today? ????

Why isn't a valid Thai driving licence enough to show you are invested in Thailand? I think I remember I did show it once at the BKK snake farm a few years ago and was charged as a local.

Don't overcomplicate it, just ask for passport if they must
So the ticket desk must riffle through every passport to find a valid permit to stay? Queueing heaven.

Dropped from the original 6.3% when in brown bottles, now tastes like dishwater, why do they do it and how low will it go?
Yes I never tried it before it was 5%, but In general anything at 6% or more is not really a distance beer (to drink all day) and I've never liked the slightly sweet cloying edge to most strong ales after the first one or two. Horses for courses, I guess.
4.8 is fine but near the low end for me (4.0 being definitely not worth the effort).????

But not for drinking, ????they are all poor beers, Cheers Extra, Tapper, Red Horse are the only ones I bother with. Chang was ok until the latest drop to 4.8%, will not buy now. None are up to Lao dark of course. Had one of those SIngha Reserves, just another fizzy lager slightly stronger.
A drop by 0.2% in alcohol seriously makes a difference to a beer? I guess this is just your little protest. ????
I voted Chang (as the Thais also prefer in my experience) I actively don't enjoy Leo. In fact I'd rather a dark beer, but hey.

In Hua Hin, old passport and new passport. no other documents as far as I recall (12 months is a long time to my grey matter), anyway certainly no need to pay anything at all, for new certificates, money to IO, nothing.

I presume you know US law, I don't, but can confirm that in the UK for many years a fax has been considered by the courts a legally acceptable document. Also for interest, it is only necessary to prove the sending of a postal letter, it's considered as having been received. I imagine that fax should work the same way (in the UK).

Petrol, pork or Pepsi which one would you have bet money on receiving government price intervention?

Great question. In the Middle East plunging into an unheated pool was great, but here the temperature is just a few degrees too low for most of the year (for my old bones). Taking the chill off just a tiny bit would be great if not too expensive.

Did he spot my Hua Hin plate and think 'aha'? ????
Got caught in a 'right turn only' lane in my car (five lanes heading same direction). I moved one lane to the left (completely empty, no danger, nothing illegal as far as I can see, no solid white lines or similar) and there he was suddenly in front with his hand raised.
He had his pad out to write me up (with my apparent offence already sketched out on the back of it, hilarious, it's clearly his shtick at that junction). I'd been very naughty, he asked for my license. 2000 Baht at police station but he'd take 1000. Of course I was thrilled: I wonder what he'd seen when he looked at me, mid 60s, and my British wife of same age, a small lottery win? ????
I said police station, several times, as he tried for 500 Baht. He indicated in that case he'd keep my license. With calm eyes fixed on his and outstretched hand I indicated that won't happen. He meekly handed it back and asked for 200 Baht.
I told him I'd give him 100 Baht which he was very happy about. Without quibbling. To be honest I prefer to allow everyone a little face at the end of the day, no matter what, I think it's a good attitude. As I handed it over I pointed at myself and said 'not kwai'. He smiled, nodded and wai'd. We both had been smiling (-ish) and totally polite throughout.
Before the crusty barstool grumps start up about me puffing up my chest, I'd point out I'm only indicating (again) the correct way to handle these situations for readers that haven't experienced this yet. It was fun, two guys sparring over very little. ????
Cheers

I've got another great bit of info: shops that are closed on Sunday will probably have more visitors when they open on Monday. Because people want to buy stuff. Just be careful when planning your shopping trips.

If it were up to me I would continue living here in the boonies at the edge of the village overlooking rice fields and a high ridge. No issues with non grasping relatives and lots of friendly people to chat to.
But its not up to me. As I understand , although I can inherit the house I cant keep it since foreigners not allowed to own the land. I believe I would have a 1 year grace period to sell up and move on.
Secondly, my ageing mother is 88 and should she be unable to take care of herself I will have to leave Thailand to take care of her.
The future holds some unhappy times so try to enjoy every precious day.
Life is a continual process of loss. This is what I understand now. Buddhists try not to get too attached; to people, things, places. A bit late for me I'm afraid.

Frankly, I think life would be hollow here without my wife of 30 years. She's my best friend & guru. But where else would I move? No clothes for the tundra & no room in the modern world.
Same, 45 years with mine, it doesn't bear thinking about.

Weirdly this is on my mind. My wife has cancer and the prognosis is uncertain. Probably will be so for a few more months.
She's my age, retired. I don't see any life without her and so I have no idea. Been together since teenagers so we're like one single person. No close family apart from her very old parents back home, so no real reason to leave Thailand if it comes to it. Will life fall apart? Who knows, watch this space. I don't see myself cohabiting with another woman of any nationality.
Well, you asked.
