Recent whisper revealed a potential visa arrangement proposed for Australians who wanted to visit Thailand - a reciprocal arrangement similar to that which exists throughout all Asean nations. Maybe now is the time that Australia should be recognized as another Asean nation as was proposed way back when. Paul Keating was PM at the time. The underwhelming response by Singapore's Lee Kwan Yew put the kybosh on that idea opining that Australia should not be part of Asean because it was a European country not Asian. I think now is the time to be more thoughtfully diplomatic and consider inclusion as a positive and beneficial step in the right direction.

New Zealand also as Asians make up a greater proportion of the population than indigenous folk.

With the ninja I used pressure cook for 80% and then the last 20% was a tender crisp function to get a bit of a crust on the outside of my roast beef. Looking at the settings on the one you have how would you go about doing this on yours?

6L seems a bit small for a 2kg roast but I would sacrafice the size if it does a good job given the price.

Sauté function might do it but I only ever do roasts in my bbq or electric oven.

Is it also a pressure cooker ?   I think that's what sets it/Ninja & Instant Pot apart from TH's offerings, along with name recognition, and decent track record.  Does come at a price point though.

Yes, it is also a pressure cooker.

Mine is of a similar design with same functions and although a cheapie, bought 5 years ago, it performs just as well as my son's expensive Breville.  The pressure cooking function is quiet (and safe) compared with old-style cookers.

EDIT:  Despite HomePro labeling as a 'rice' cooker, it is in fact a multi-cooker.

  4. Several underlying causes of road deaths often ignored are:-  high powered vehicles in the hands of inexperienced drivers.  EV's in particular will be a menace in the wrong hands with frightening acceleration and poor wet weather handling.  New cars get quicker and quicker, alas drivers brains haven't kept pace.  Phone use whilst driving is so prevalent yet perpetrators hide behind illegal all-round black tint.  Even when not using a phone, night vision is dangerously reduced.

Following the sinking of a dive boat in Phang Nga, a British tourist and a Thai woman, understood to have been a member of the crew, remain missing.

The British woman has been named as 57 year old Millie Young, from Brighton, England.

The Sawan Tour Reggae Queen dive boat sank in strong winds in the Surin Islands National Park at around 11pm on Friday night. The boat was carrying 18 tourists to Khao Lak when it capsized near Koh Torinla.

"Sawan" appears to be unsuited for open waters of Phang Nga bay.  She is narrow in the beam, high wooded and I daresay of fairly shallow draft and with a single engine.

High windage, pax all topside on aft deck + poor seamanship would likely cause a high centre of gravity and capsize the vessel.

An avoidable accident if Western maritime safety rules and regulations were in place and followed, even loosely.

Also depends on your personal preference.  Some places make the gravy pretty runny and others almost like a slime, depending on how much starch they put into it.

    Very true.

Kwan's is 90% consistent with a moderate gravy-like consistency.   The flavour of her stock is, IMHO, just perfect.

  7. Anyone have a favourite rardna restaurant you'd like to share.  Mine is Kwan's Kitchen on Canal Rd, Mae Hia.

Always tasty and filled with quality veggies and meat: chicken, pork or prawns, it's the best I've had anywhere.

What I was getting at is, can you still reasonably use the roof space for storage etc?  The only thing that interferes with that at my current house is the annoying hangers for the suspended ceiling, that will be designed out on my next build.

Yes you can but it depends on what u want to store. eg: I have a platform upon which I keep spare tiles for floors and walls.

The SCG system in your photo looks very complex - I presume that's how they spread the weight without using heavy members?  Does it take up most of the roof space?

I'm asking because I am considering and SCG or similar system for my next house but I very much want to utilise the roof space.

Trusses are spaced approx 1.5m or more apart and I find it easy to walk thru our ceiling, stepping from bottom chord to bottom chord.  I purposely left several long lengths of steel to use as walkways or work platforms.  It's far easier to move around than our other house with a heavy steel built-up roof.

    I cannot believe that the only response that I have received to my OP is this E-mail;

"Depends entirely on how many Mods are on duty, the amount that needs to be done. Sometimes there just isn't time.
    Forum Support Aseannow.com"

How is a poster to know what was wrong with a post when it is just arbitrarily removed without any chance of feedback/learning from the "experience" or if it is just a glitch and needs/can be reposted?

I believe that if the Mods have time to remove posts they MUST make time to provide feedback even if later if they are short of time(?) when they did the deleting!

Damned if you do and damned if you don't - as a forum Admin and Mod (elsewhere) whilst I empathise with you it does come down to work-load on any given day.  Invision software allows for a notification to be issued upon deletion BUT, this mechanism often leads to abuse or Q's of 'why'.

Also, a thread or post may simply be hidden, pending approval.

Not too many of these type left in Australia.

Most of the nasty bike group leaders are Lebanese (middle eastern) proper evil c^~ts.

Long time ago, when I was living in Guildford (Sydney) , around the corner was Hells Angels club house, I was friends with the president 'Jed', looked similar to the guy above.

Now most are middle eastern scum.

Approx 15 years ago the southern Lebanese gangs attempted an expansion into SEQld and QLD Police 'allowed' incumbent Bikie groups to force them out.  Whether they've managed to infiltrate since then I have no idea but at least the older established gangs were manageable, to a point, back then.  I worked with both QLD Police (professionally) and HA on occasions, the latter at fundraisers, and they could be quite amiable.
