The kid on the motorbike is what hurts my heart. Why shoot him? Maybe he was a related do gooder? He was on a Wave though, not a honda 500000 cc.

Pretty soon, this place may be considered a hotbed, as per my concern.

I sincerely hope they don't. I have flights booked to Vietnam on 2 March for a Non O application.
Have you been to China recently? Vietnam has closed the books I think. Thailand is the only cuntry in the region still accepting flights.

@CNXexpat I think you're right. Just looking at the scenario like a child ????

@DrJack54 Actually contracting it would be the worst. I'm hoping it will subside with the flu season.
I can't unimagine the money that could be made by making 'westerners' get a direct flight home or face fees and consequences.
**Headline: Thailand closes all borders with neighboring countries; Only outbound flights are with BKK and Thai Airways; The only inbound flights are from....
Overstay fines will be doubled as will punishments.

Just my curiousity. I'll stay holed up until my wife's mama noodles run out. Maybe I'll utilize the fishing poles I bought 5 years ago to catch some nice, fresh Thai fish. :'

@nausea I thinks it has taken off. Not going to mention anything here as it's the visa section, but Laos has 0 confirmed cases. If I was a leader, I'd like to keep it that way,

Jeez, my post was full of mistakes. I was at Chaengwattana last Thursday and it seemed grim. This stuff is scary. I was 22 when I came here during SARS; I'm 42 now; not as young and 'invincible'.
Thanks for the replies ubonjoe and moonlover

I'm curious, with Thailand still accepting flights from China, how long it will take for neighboring countries to close their borders to Thailand. Land borders are dangerous I would think.
If that happens, what will happen to people who go on overstay due to countries being closed. There will be no way to exit and enter. I think this <deleted> is going to be serious.
Before you <deleted> post about money (cash or in the bank), this is about being able to leave the country, not stay here.

You can actually extend the visa exempt 2 times with a Non-O. Extend for 30 days the first time and 60 days the second time, so you can get a total of 120 days on it, 1,900 each time. You have to do it in that order though (according to Chaengwattana).
I do it when I do a visa exempt (I have 1/2 Thai children). The last time though, I got a real winner of an I.O. and thought she was going to refuse me. She was looking for any mistake she could find in my paperwork.

Thank you all kindly. I will pass the info on.
Thanks again!

Just a quick question for a co-worker.
I have a woman friend ( South African) who is getting married to a Thai man. She is currently on a Non-ED visa, and asked me if it's possible to change at Chaengwattana to a Non-O. I told her that I THOUGHT it was possible, but to call Immi. and ask them. Then I thought I may be able to get an answer here.
Thanks.
Also, can she get a work permit on a Non-O being a teacher?

I did this 2 times this year at Chaengwattana. According to them, you must first use the 30 day and then you can go back and do the 60 day (in that order).
Normally I use Non-O (guardian), but thought I might as well use the border stamp method since it was cheaper. The second time I did it, the IO was quite snotty with me.

I just crossed back from Savannachet with a single entry Non Immigrant ' o' guardian visa. No funds were ever asked. They denied 1 person from Italy a tourist visa. He had 4 in his passport plus the 2 exempt stamps. I noticed that some people were having to show money at the border and some weren't. I didn't speak to them so I don't know their situations.
I hung out with 2 people that got M.E. Non 'o' marriage with no problems. They had both had back to back ones for 4-5 years. I'm on the van with them now.
Anyway, that was my experience 45 minutes ago.
Cheers!

I've done it a few years ago (at Chaengwattana before provinces had their own immigration). Your paperwork from employer needs to be IMMACULATE. You used to need need 15 days left on your visa, I'm not sure on that anymore. Be prepared to be denied at least once. Immigration is really getting their magnifying glass out right now on all paperwork.

Hello, I'm sure this question has been asked, but I couldn't find it.
Stupid me, I have waited until the day my visa expires to take care of it. I was going to go to Myanmar for 30 days exemption, but the vans were full at 03.45 this morning when I got to the agent.
I have a single entry Non-O (guardian for children) visa. I have already extended it (90 + 60 days). Can I go to Chaeng Wattana and ask for extension and be denied to get 14 days 'extension' ? This will give me time to get out and get a new visa and not have an overstay at the border.
Thanks in advance for any help.

@Kwasaki Thanks for the reply. I'd rather just get it done without a lot of running around. I've never tried for a license. I've not a clue what's needed, only what's posted up here in the forums.

Hello all,
I'm not working, so I have no work permit. Neither me nor my Thai wife own property (no house or land book); we rent while I'm going to attend university in BKK next semester (I haven't started yet). I have a Multiple entry Non-O visa (marriage). My wife and myself are both listed on the house contract where we rent (and registered @Changwattana). Will a house contract suffice for the Certificate of Residency to get a motorcycle license?
I have to make a trip to the embassy soon, should I spend the $50.00 USD while I'm there and get one from the Embassy? Also, off this forum topic (sorry), should I buy multiples (2-3) of the Cert. of Residency? I've read that to open a bank account requires one.
Seems a few things needed to be legal in Thailand require this Cert. of Residence, and if I have to book an appointment at my embassy and pay 1700 baht every time it's a bit frustrating. Am I misunderstanding?
Thanks in advance for all help!

Yes, been getting the 60 day extensions at local immi. I just don't have the 400 k in the bank. Thanks Ubonjoe

I'm not legally married, so I stay on single entry Non-O visa because I have 2 children. Is the single entry non-o visa available in savanakhet? I go to vietienne usually.
Also, has anyone heard of a limit, or anyone being turned away at the border for too many of these? I've always had a work permit, but I've been getting on with these, this will be the 4th one.
thanks in advance for any answers; cheers
How did shooter get weapons used in deadly Korat shooting?

I keep looking for the M60. Where is it? There is no squad weapon that I can see. An M60 is is a .30 caliber belt fed machine gun from the '60s that required a crew to use. You can't carry the gun AND enough ammo.
Have you ever seen or bought a green ammo box from the Army/Navy store that said 'Caliber 7.62 NATO'
From the pics that I have seen, the only American firearm that he had was a 10-22 and a Remington 12 gauge. Those will have been bought, not taken from a military base.
7.62 NATO for an 'M60' is .308. The cycle rate for an M60 is low, the reload time would be detrimental to a mall shooter (unless somebody actually made this old, antiquated gun accept a magazine); even then, you're not gonna shoulder it!
Is the Thai army using 5o year old weapons left over from the Vietnam war?
