Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country on the face of earth. And you will find that Christians have been attacked, churches targeted, churches bombed etc. These are facts. Constitutionally it may not be an Islamic Republic, but you will rarely find a non Muslim being President of Indonesia. You will also find that most Indonesians vote based on the religious affiliation of politicians. Megawati is an exception, although she had a famous Father.

This is not a stereotypical comment, as I've heard it in multiple Asian countries. I am not asserting all Asians assert this, but many I have heard do. "You farang, you rich", "you bule, you rich", "you foreigner, you rich". The other thing is that you just can't leave properties unattended irrespective of where you live in the world. If you've got reliable trustworthy neighbours who you have good relationships with then that is another thing, and even then the criminals can try and get in through the roof if it's tiled. There's no way I could leave a property unattended for 5 months and think that I am going to come back to it without anything being disturbed/stolen in the world we live in, but I suppose it depends on the relevant country and what sort of area the house is situated in to some degree.
