  1. I never even though about my licences, 55. Cheers.
  2. Hi I've recently moved house. I'm guessing I have to inform the vehicle licensing department of my new address? I bought the bike new and have a green book. What's the process please?
  3. I was trying to comply with the letter of the law as I understood it, but as with so many things immigration related, it changes depending on where you are, phase of the moon etc.
  4. Yes, I'll have to next time if I don't find another bank, but I was under the impression it had to be a statement dated up to the day I went to immigration. I updated my bank book at the same time and was told they needed to match.
  5. Yes, I used to do the same. It only took them 5 min. I'll still check out other banks and move if the others can do it on the day. No need to take 3-5 days for this. It's quiet as far as foreigners go here anyway now. (Hua Hin)
  6. Well, I thought it dad to be 12 months, but I might try going there today then with just my bank book. I guess that way I'll find out if the rest of the info is correct for when I actually get the statement, if they want to see it. I've recently moved and have only done 1 90 day check at new IO
  7. Hi My retirement extension is due in 6 days now. I was going to do it yesterday but Bangkok bank now takes 3-5 days to produce the statement that took them about 5 minuets to produce last year. If they take the full 5 days, it won't give me much leeway for any problems. I guess I don't have any options this time, but can anyone tell me if they (the banks) have all changed to do this, of is there another bank I can move my money to so I won't have this problem again next year? If Bangkok bank don't want my money I'm sure there are others that do. Also, I was told the statement would be up to the previous day. Unless the rules have changed I though it had to be the day I went to immigration and had to match the bank book. I have enough cash to last me without making a withdrawal, but I'm not sure if there will be a problem when I go to Immigration?
  8. OK, time for an update. My friend went to my, not his, IO to fess up and ask the question without sh1tt1ng on the doorstep of his own IO, so to speak. The officer told him, "bad boy, no extension for you", unless......you pay me 15k and I can make the problem go away. He said he had heard an agent could do that, but didn't know they would do it directly. She told him it was no problem for her and if he didn't have enough money to get to the 800k she could fix that for 18k. He said that this was not his IO and she said, don't worry, yours will do it too. Same price. My guess is they get less through an agent and charge the same as the agent and get extra if they do it directly. No problem, can do. Funny. All very open and matter of fact. Apparently she reeled off the details without batting an eye, like she does it all day every day.
  9. I agree. I always get shaved and dressed up in long pants, nice shirt etc. Never had a problem. He's been sent away once before for wearing shorts 555. Probably got a mark against his name on file already!!
  10. OK, I'll pass that on. I live in Hua Hin, but he lives in Cha Am and so comes under Phetchaburi Imm. Anyone recommend an agent that is good at this kind of thing in his area?
  11. Yes, I know. Crazy! It was bit by bit to "invest" in properties for "their" future together I think. He was still working in various countries for most of their time together and now he's been here a few years she sees the inflow of new money has stopped and wants rid of him. That's my take on it anyway. I hope he doesn't decide to sign up here and read all this, but hey, he's made some pretty bad choices so.....
  12. Yes, I'll tell him that. I think he wanted to see if they thought it was something that could be sorted out without alerting his local office, but I know the answer they will give him.
  13. I lent him the 30k he needed. Put it in his bank last night. 165 baht!! He won't want to hear that, but at least you did sort it out.
  14. He's going to ask at another imm office today he says. He keeps forwarding me bits of incorrect info he finds on the web that doesn't mention the 400k. Sad man. I told him to wake up and see the real world situation, not what he wants to be true. Anyway, thanks for the constructive comments, I'm passing your advice on to him. I'll update when I get some info back from him. I think a few k in the passport is the way to go personally, or the agent route.
  15. Hey dude, I feel the same as you, but the truth is, he trusted her for 15 years and she was full of s41t. The first thing he said to me when I met him 3 years ago was don't get involved with hookers. Good advice. He trusted his GF, she wasn't a hooker, as far as he knew anyway, but she insisted on dealing with immigration for him because she is Thai and he is farang. This worked for 15 years while she was gradually getting every penny he had invested into Thailand and in her name. He's a sucker, but he trusted the woman he loves. He's not the first, and he won't be the last. I don't trust anyone here, not even my GF, and I keep control of my own affairs, but I don't feel embarrassed to be his friend. I feel embarrassed for the Thai woman that is so hard and greedy she would take everything an old man who loves her as spent his life working for.
  16. Thanks for the info. I've been telling him to get on here for weeks. He's having a tough time of it though and I've just been giving him some tough truths on the phone.
  17. Like I said, long story. I can see why you think all the above, and you could be close on some points, but he has probably spent 50mil on property here, but it's all in her name. I know! No fool like an old fool. He's 71 and has now got a lawyer on the case. Not married though and she as never had more than a tiny income. He can show statements for transfers etc. His lawyer says "No problem". I'm not so sure.
  18. It's much worse than that. She's going to take him for every penny he has, but a long story for another time. I think this could even be what she wants. I feel for the guy, I really do.
  19. Sorry, missed the last bit. He goes to Phetchaburi Imm. I used to go there before I moved to Hua Hin and they are generally pretty helpful.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I've found out he drew out 30k to give his missus yesterday. I've put him in a panic and he will put it back tomorrow if he can get it back off her, they are not getting on too well at the moment, or I will lend him 30k for a few days if it's worth trying to explain to immigration what happened. He has about 6-8 months before his extension is due I think. He stupidly let her deal with all things immigration, and now she is trying to take every penny he has, she is less than helpful. Funny how there is almost always a woman involved 55.
  21. Hi Not me, but a friend of mine who is not on this forum, has dipped below the 400k in his bank account for his retirement visa. Anyone here have any experience of this kind of mistake, and if it's corrected quickly is it a major problem? Thanks
