The perfect dumping ground, that is until the body surfaced in the bag.
I hope it was a quick death. RIP
Why is it a perfect dumping ground?
OK , The river around that "island" was dredged about 10 years ago to remove silt and improve river flow but it was always gonna get caught up some where there ...The next bridge down would have been better. Faster river flow and less eyes...

OK isn't about time to put a cork on this one.
Thanks,
A few pages back I mentioned that I knew where 60 x old stock 5 litre boxes were selling at 1005 baht but instead of interest on where this place is we got "all of the above"..
No problems! That lot should keep me going for a bit..

I bought another 5 litres of old stock today at 1005 baht. As there was only one left on the shelf (again) I asked if it was the last one. "Mee yeu yeu" was the reply...When asked how "yeu" they said 5 large boxes. I guess that each large box must contain at least 12 x 5 litre boxes = 60 ...
If anything, this one tastes smoother with a more fruity taste......but I've only drank a litre so far ......and no sign of bloating from myself nor the bag...

Why would you when it can be bought legally here?
I haven't investigated at all but I used to love the Boots' wine kits ...Especially the monkey see monkey do instructions...

Anybody know what would happen bringing in brew kits at suvarnabhumi from UK??
Then buy the bottles here..

May they rot in hell.
May they drown in the out of date stagnating wine lake that they have created for next year..

It is illegal, therefore cannot be discussed on TV, I will PM you with more info if that's ok.
Thanks...
When I was living "in the village" I definitely didn't brew lao khao ..

You are totally wrong, there are quite a few homebrew shops in Bangkok.
Wow! I honestly thought it was illegal too!!
I have time on my hands and was quite successful at it in the 80s.
Where are they???

I seem to recall seeing an article which suggested that these wines COULD last up to 2 yrs in the cask if treated correctly.
I think it has something to do with the bag itself...I have fondled a few bags in my time and consider MC bags thicker and more durable ... lets see what tomorrow brings anyways..

but as others have said watch out for bloated/expanded casks...……….avoid completely.
Interestingly, when I was checking out the MFD on the "new" 3 litre boxes in Big C t'other day I noticed a couple that were bloaters......

Does the Peter Vella 4L 799baht, Cedar Creek 4.5L 925baht. seem to be value for money, it seems quite reasonable to me?
Yep.
I am not a fan of PV - It tastes like communion wine to me but I mentioned the CC either earlier in this thread or in another one and it is what I intend to try next...
I have vague memories of once confusing cedar creek and castle creek and wasn't too happy with it.... but desperation may change that opinion.....

It has been mentioned if the box starts or has started to swell and starts to look like a football, you may have problems.??
I have a few sips of the 10 litres left and it seemed OK.....But you have described my stomach quite accurately though...

It's been mentioned by various repliers, I bought mine from a sort of a Thai Off Licence, it is old stock they are selling. But be careful, it has been stated that if the wine is over 6 months old it may not be top notch, but because it is in a box there is little chance of being corked.
Thanks for replying..
I bought 10 litres last Thursday which left only one on the shelf... I shall go back Friday and see if it is still there..Albeit 9 months old...

I have noticed that the people saying things like: never eat the street food, use bottled water to make ice cubes, take such and such supplements, don't touch anything in a Thai toilet in supermarkets, bleach your house down, cook all your own food, never buy from Thai markets / street vendors, wash your hands all the time.. etc... are the people saying they have allergies, get food poisoning / upset stomachs, colds, bugs and are the ones getting sick!!
And the rest of us are ignored...!!!!

Kudos for trying to turn even this obscure topic into an anti USA thread.
Sorry..
Interestingly, posts with good advice remain ignored....

He said, "you might not die. You might be turn into a vegetable in a Thai hospital. Do you want that?"
But being a vegetable you wouldn't know where you were would you?
Self moderation regarding a hotel in Singapore, an orange pumpkin and a over ripe water melon prevents me from commenting further..

It is either one of 2 things that I usually get:
1. Upset stomach presumably due to street food / water / ice cubed.
No. My farang friends and I eat any street food going... even the raw buffalo lab, raw spicy prawns, fried insects, fermented pork, noodles, etc etc, also buy all meat from local markets, eat out at local Thai rural bars, where we also consume the ice cubes (often from a plastic bucket using our fingers), and get drinking water from the vending machines on the street. NEVER had food poisoning or upset stomach in 10 years of doing this. Only time I had to run to the loo was when I overdid it on adding the chillies and make it too spicy. Not a problem now though.. hotter the better.
2. Headache/bad fever, I guess due to the hot weather and the rainy season.
No. Due to you not being hydrated enough or staying out unprotected in the sun and heat.
Drink plenty of water (room temperature to slightly cool) If you drink lots of ice cold water when you are really hot you will get an upset stomach. Wear sunglasses when outside for long periods and when you feel too hot take a break to cool down.
Exactly the same response that I would have given but may I add a couple of things..?
1. If you get caught out in a bad rain storm, especially up North or in Isaan, go for a shower as soon as possible. I am told it is because the rain contains chemicals from the fields. It may be a load of tosh but I have never been sick after getting a good soaking, and I lived out "in the village" for 16 years..
2. I walk a lot and always wear a cap and walk in the shade wherever possible, and I have never had a headache that can be attributed to the sun!! I haven't bothered trying to get a suntan since the 70s....

Of course you are correct in that sense but a stabbing and killing outside the Phet hotel from the nightclub wouldn't have carried any news because it happens so often ....and certainly wouldn't have been news worthy for Thaivisa..
Unless you are an undercover journalist investigating the illegal exportation of hazardous goods to Africa.....Nah!
