My attack has always been on TPTB.  Never the poor bloody infantry, you and me, who are deprived of a pleasant drink. Medical checks will draw me back to Australia soon.   I can't wait.

I served with a few Aussies.Good soldiers and good drinkers. Can't say better than that....If ever you get to Pattaya I'll get a box in !!!!

It's a lost cause everybody,  TPTB will not allow your pleasure.  Fruit wine?   No one accepts this crap.   While the current bunch of clowns run the place Chang and Hong Thong is the best you'll get and they don't give a damn,,,,,because they don't know any better.

I am more than happy to drink Chang and/or Hongthong with my neighbours and will certainly be doing so over Songkran. Over the years I have drank more than my fair share of seesip degree out of a shared dirty glass out in the rice fields........

..... But as you say..my PLEASURE is wine. My income versus consumption now restricts me to Castle Creek in a box which does me fine whilst preparing, cooking and eating meals....but I will never pay 1,000+ baht for 5 litres of fruit wine.......Never I tell you!!.... NEVER!!!..... Bwahahaha!!!!

  3. I am replying because you said "Elsewhere in Pattaya"....

When I lived ooop North I would bring my Golden down for a holiday at the seaside. I read that Rabbit Resort allowed dogs but after swapping correspondence it seemed my dog was too big. I have no idea if they do long term rentals or how big your dog is but give them a call ..... Good Luck....

Yes i noticed yesterday in Tesco the 5 litre box is now 1290, used to be 989, so a 30% increase !!

I know, it is a shocking price to pay for a fruit wine. I have always preferred Castle Creek which is still 880 baht for 5 litres in my local shop and with no signs of stock running out...

I was in Pattaya for 2 days mostly to make a Villa Mkt run and other shopping. I need some new shorts, but alas, my experience was the same as yours. I was in the store & checking out for at least 45 minutes & the be right back sign was up when I came in & still up when I left.

    Only in Thailand.

What Villa Mart has become is a crying shame. 20+ years ago I'd go to Villa Mart on 33/1 to stock up on lamb and wine before driving home to Surin province (Upstairs was a wine lover's heaven)....  there were few options available at the time (pre Thaksin/pre Ryans Resort etc etc) ...

    Anyways:-

Shorts - I use Big C Pattaya Tai - enter from the Sukumvit side and the stall is right in front of you...

Songkran shirts - If anybody was unable to find the stall I referred to earlier further down Pattaya Tai across 3rd road, after the Shell station but before Pattaya City Resort you will find 2 stalls there....

    tri-lingual Marketing Execs

I was merely alluding to an earlier poster that suggested that his wife was way above stabbing him and I was pointing out that she would just get somebody else to do it for her..

But most Isaan girls are bilingual (Thai + Kmer and/or Laos) so add in a bit of English and or German/French/Italian etc and suddenly his claim is getting even more leaky....

Tuesday and Friday - The smaller Sunday one didn't have any (today) and Saturday's is even smaller and didn't have any a week ago... ...Although it may have been too early when I visited of course...

There's a small shop at villa supermarket in the avenue shopping centre, she has large sizes, reasonable prices.

I have passed through there twice since you posted and each time they had a sign up "Be right back". Each time there were no Songkran shirts on display..

However, I have just returned from the pop up stall I mentioned earlier and bought a 5XL shirt for 215 Baht. I am usually 3XL in Thailand sizes. Prices started at 169 Baht for "normal" people. Next to Wat Chai is a Top Chareon shop, look directly opposite at the gold shops and you will see one selling Songkran shirts outside.....
