Yeah, the thing is, though, that when a foreigner legally lives in Thailand then he has to pay only the Thai price. The entrance fee for Khao Yai for a Thai is 40 Baht, for a foreigner it is 400. When I was still living in Thailand I went there quite a lot. They were asking for 400, but after showing them my work permit I had to pay only 40. Assuming that the poster legally lives in Thailand he should’ve gotten in for free. Having said that, the double price policy makes sense to me. I wouldn’t expect a Thai who makes considerably less money to pay the Falang fee.

There are two main points in this thread.

    1. We don't know if the OP, or his wife, did mentoin a WP or anything else that connects the foreigner as living in thai instead of being a foreign-tourist, when the park manager hold their car.

The story is the wife just turned the car and they went to swim at the foot of the waterfall. (the park, with entrance fee for foreigner visitors, is on the top)

    2. Many National Parks,  other parks and public locations with entrance fees; they won't accept the WP, Thai DL or anything and still forces the foreigner, living and even working in Thailand, to pay the fee for foreign-tourists.  Of which many of us don't agree with and some of us agree with and there are some being neutral on this. Three sides meet in this thread now.

What National Parks are there in the Centre of Bangkok or Pattaya?

IF you are talking about Double Pricing exercised by shops or attractions, then this is not government sanctioned and is in-fact illegal.

Right pointed, it is not a part of one of the national parks but it feels like it with Dusit Zoo (currently closed) and the Floating market in pattaya.

Greater Bangkok does have smaller 'national parks', but personally no experience with these.

The one Kalasin is one of the true National Parks.

In Central Bangkok there is Double Pricing at places like Kidzania (kids play area), but tourists can also go online and get 'discounted tickets' from Websites, early bird discounts, people (anyone) can get 50% discounts with an Air-Asia boarding pass, these same discounts are open to all.

As I already said in an early post, a workaround is ordering online on the thai language websites, 7eleven or let a Thai pickup the tickets.

IF you just turn up you will pay a higher rate and there are two rates - one for Thai Residents (i.e. show a Thai DL and you get the Thai resident rate) and another rate for Non Thai's (i.e. Tourists) which is about 20% more.

    The zoo is 50% more.

Same for the fun parks, and the packages they are pushing. But that's for another thread.

    No wonder.

    For HKT:

Sweden left together with the peace,

Russian came and they don't giving a 'stool' about others with high level of xenofobia.

Except Garage54 and The riotting cats. ????

    For that article at Nation

    "Quoting the Tourism Department"

    ????

Anyway, tourism is not about foreigners. It consist of foreigners AND thais.

These numbers says nothing but better welfare with Thai people.

Au contraire, this is the crux of the issue. People living here pay Thai prices, tourists prices for foreigners. And with the OP refusing to answer I see only 1 possibility: he did not try to enter with Thai DL or similar.

So sorry, IMO he should be paying more than people living here.

    So it is.

My parents from the west visiting me, I we go to a park.

I order two thai rate tickets and two foreigner rate ticket.

For my missus, me and my parents.

Face behind the glass in the booth look at me, two?

Yes, I said, my parents are visiting Thailand.

I getting ready to grab my Thai DL or similar, keeping in my pocket

After mumbling to her/himself and staring to the glass.

Two thai rate tickets and two foreign rate ticket are put down under the glass

Would I show up without my parents...

In this article from 5 years ago they said the number of foreigners has declined

The Chief of Tourism Promotion office of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, Wanlapha Yuttiwong :

    •     She insisted, stipulate that foreigners, regardless of their official status in Thailand, are obliged to pay the foreign price.
    •     Foreigners even do not qualify for free entry if under 3 or over 60 years of age.

    •     Asked why she thought the fees were so high, Ms Wanlapha remarked “We don’t get enough budget from the government to maintain the parks, and lately the number of foreign visitors to national parks has declined.”

    And no wondering why?

If my back acts up, I can pay 150b for a proper Thai massage that would cost at least 2000b in North America; my 49 sqm bachelor apartment, that costs 4000b PM, would cost at least 20,000b; dental work is much cheaper; my high speed Internet costs 100b Pm - compared to 2000b PM; and food is much cheaper...

So , it is fair to pay the same amount as other do.

Did she enquire about you using your workpermit or Thai DL to gain free entrance?

Some locations accept that, but not always.. Tourists can get Thai DL.

The pink card gives sometime more advantage.. not always, years ago it was the lao/birma/cambodian working here who did have the pink card, some Thai people still 'class' these cards as such, the only difference is the text on the back,  in that case the Thai DL gives you more options.

Use pink where many farangs go / has boldy gone before.

I remember one location, they accepted the Thai DL but you still have to buy a entrance ticket.

That ticket, with some added notes, then gives you free entrance lifetime after the next visit.

I thanked and did not go in.

This practice is really nonsense, and double pricing I walk away or pay the Thai price with a smile.

(parks: booking online, get at 7eleven or let Thai pickup the tickets)

Farangs who still believe we should pay more then Thai, they still believe in unequallity and they are. Buy 10 tickets and go alone, good on you. But let the other who believe we are equal, pay the normal price.

Better 20 happy farangs go and pay normal price then one happy (rich) and one grumpy (you) farang go pay the double price, just simple as that.

Yes that’s right but I just don’t know how you dial out overseas from the UK.  In the States it’s 001 66

This thread is about 20 hours old so hopefully he’s figured that out by now on his own but if not it’s on here for him.

The standard for many countries is : first calling 00  for the international service, then the country code (which is 66 for thailand) then the number without the first zero.

For national numbers : The first zero is for leading the call to the national phone service, then the district number. In your own district you call the number without the zero and district number, the real local call.

That's why when calling from abroad you have to skip that first zero.

The USA has a little different setup, first  011 for the international service, then the country code and then the number without the zero.

The same is with Canada 011.

Australia use 0011 to route the call to international service.

When you use + , the international code should be automatically called on your smartphone.

Just with the old phones you have to know the international service number.

    A nice link https://countrycode.org/how-to-call

(they permit linking; usage policy linking to this site is not a problem. It provides a useful service)

The comb was used in the wrong manner.

In my eyes the OP didn't wrong, but good deed and miswrote by generalizing  sub species under the parents class, just by lack find other good description on that time.

This, can has reasons, no need to fight or repeatly apologize.

It happened to the OP. And have been with me, and don't say it never happened to you.

  11. Maybe a Thai supplier for JDS Labs is/was able to help you on this issue? Or the reverse way, that JDS Labs authorize/summon the thai supplier to help you. (and getting paid by them ofcourse)

    http://www.bkkaudio.com/index.php?route=product/manufacturer/info&manufacturer_id=116

I have nothing to do with bkkaudio but a search on JDS products I found them offering these equipments.

Try make a visit, if you are in Bangkok and around Phaya Tai

I would indeed try some area's of BKK. BKK is more expensive then Chang Mai.

I live a bit north of BKK (Nonthaburi) and I like it. But I would think that living in BKK is more expensive then Chang Mai.

I agree with them, I happen to live just near these places but in the province of Bangkok, subdistrict Don Muang the public transport connection here is very good and when news saying Bangkok has his heavy rain and white smog air, it was not the case here so I would say it is really 'outside' bkk.

The prices for rent and streetfood are far more lower than Bangkok city.

If I fly and land at the DMK airport, I arrive home well in 20 minutes, a big relief.

Just try these places the people are sugessting, just one week here one week there and make your choice.

  14. I usually striketrough the copy with a note that it is just for the ocassion, eventually with a date and company name.

Renders the copy useless for something else than that what it is written on the copy.

It is like to write " I certify that this is a true copy of the original document. " to make the copy certified by the bearer of the original ID.

    1. It will only be valid to the date the permit to stay it is issued for. If a 90 day entry from a non-o it would end on the same day it does.

The extension would give you a new permit to stay date so you would need a new re-entry permit that will only be valid to the date the extension ends.

    2. to 2.2 No

Clear.  They will use the date the visa OR the extension is valid.

So, not very usefull to get an multi re-entry stamp except when person who have non-o (non-Gov volunteer) (or any else with 90 days max) is flying out more then three times in these 90 days period.

And there is a situation.. when application for extension of stay is given to the immigration and under consideration which is 30 days, also stamped that, then 30 days later you come back to the immigration to 'pick up' the extension stamp and the date is known, 60 days after the pickup date stamped in your passport.

What date will they use when you get the multi re-entry stamp in the ''consideration''  month.
