  1. I have seen a fe here brand new from specialist showrooms , ie the one at the top of Thong Lo, for around 3m ,yet the Mazda website states they start at 3.75 m.

I wanted to test drive it and they said I could for a deposit of 100k! I said OK but when I return it I get the 100k back then?

Oh No was the reply, you can put it towards another car!.OK so if I test drive another car then I can do that without paying any more....Oh no, 100k per car, so u can end up having 5 test drives for half a million baht..you gotta buy something!!!

    I walked away

    Wankels

It cost 3750000 at Mazda Lumpini, I visited there few weeks ago.

  2. Commerce opens new probe into Temasek purchase of Shin Corp

BANGKOK: -- A team of Commerce Ministry opened a new probe into the sale of telecom giant Shin Corp to Singapore's Temasek Holdings on Wednesday, in a politically charged case that could lead to the nullification of the deal.

A team of investigators from the commerce ministry Wednesday began examining the findings of a preliminary probe, which found that a Thai company called Kularb Kaew was formed by a group of Thai investors to illegally buy and control Shin Corp shares on behalf of Temasek.

If the latest investigation confirms that finding, Temasek's stake in Shin would exceed foreign ownership limits, which would restrict the company's eligibility for telecom licenses.

"We need a few more months to rule on whether the Shin Corp deal must be nullified or not," Deputy Permanent Secretary for Commerce Yanyong Phuangrach told reporters.

"More information will be sought from other firms involved in the transaction as well as the Democrat Party and those who filed the complaint in this case," he said.

If investigators find any wrongdoing, the case would be brought to the police who could then take it to a court. The court would consider possible remedies, including nullification or restructuring of the deal, Yanyong said.

Taksin must stay in power, otherwise he will lose his sweet deal...We all know how courts treat political cases lately(thanks god).

  3. I used to get a blocking web page from the goverment when trying to

access some web sites such as TorrentSpy etc. But as of 2 days ago it

seems to be green lights for alot of them.

Has anyone else noticed this with any sites they were blocked from. I'm sure the goverment is

not having a change of heart, so why is this?

Yes I see same thing in the past few days. Just some technitian forgot to tune the blocking proxy..Amazing Thailand..:-)

  4. Kasikorn bank, e-banking, they gave me a gold card, and online payments available with e-web thingy. Bkk Bank wouldn't even give me a credit card. Bringing banking in Thailand into the 21st Centrury, finally!!!!

Thanks for answers guys, did they give you gold card on your corporate account? For me even ATM gonna be great, as Thai credit card mostly useless for online shopping and for Thailand me using Bangkok bank debit card.

  5. Guys, my company limited has an account with Siam Commercial bank and its really pain in the ass. I'm looking for a new set up, need a ATM card, option to withdraw money in every branch of the same bank, option to send the salaries to other Thai banks from the net and more bonuses that make corporate life easier. Please advice, I'm happy with Bangkok Bank, but its private account...

  6. http://www.bangkokbob.net/map/efg_111213.htm

It's near the US Emb, 2 Churches I plan to frequent, and appears to be a good location.

I'm hoping to look at around 15k/mo

    possible?

    Thanks in advance

From my understanding is nothing for 15K in this area. Or 25k+ farang style, or 5-6-7K for 30 meters Thai style apartments. The area is kinda pricey due to all the Embassies etc. Look around soi Nai lert or lower Sukhumvit, its not that far but the prices are much better. Soi1, Soi13, Soi 6 etc.

  7. I am considering buying a 'luxury' watch from a USA website. Does anyone know what percentage of tax will be loaded on the declared cost when the item arrives in Thailand? To the best of my knowledge this particular model is not available here as it was part of a limited edition.

Dealing with Thai customs is pain in the ass, once they wanted to charge me 500USD for shipment of less then 500USD...ended up paying 100USD...The other time paid nothing for the same kind of shipment, what you say? Amazing Thailand !

  8. I have seen a brand new one of thes for sale..looks great

Has anyone any experiences with these cars?

Great looking car, talked with Mazda dealers last time I been to Lumpini branch. The only problem is ###### expensive compared to other countries...3750000 baht for the new car, I think in EU or US this car never goes over 40K USD. The good thing they can break it for 6 years downpayment, so in the end you paying something like 60K baht per month.

  9. Gen. Sonthi considers assassination attempt rumor is groundless

Army Commander-in-Chief Sonthi Boonyaratglin believes that the news on the assassination plot targeting Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is only a rumour. He said security officials already have strict safety measures, and the occurrence of such incident is very unlikely.

Gen. Sonthi also made a comment about the People’s Alliance for Democracy’s (PAD) demonstration on July 14t, saying that the Royal Thai Army is ready to handle the situation like always. However, he believes that the demonstration will not escalate to violence as the PAD members are loyal to the kingdom and His Majesty the King.

The Army Commander-in-Chief said the army is using media to remind the general public to love the country. He said political conflicts can occur but national conflicts must not take place.

Source: Thai National News Bureau Public Relations Department - 12 July 2006

I'm surprised on this general comments, some time ago I though he just neutral power, however every time I see new comments from him, I tend to believe that he is one of the hidden anti-Taksin

opponents. AND I hope I'm right on that one, cause armed forces is a great source of influence in Thai society.

  10. One can only wonder at the uninformed and flawed logic behind this forced withdrawal of petrol. A more skeptical individual might wonder who owns the ethanol companies, and stands the most to benefit from this government policy?

    Ohhhhhhhh that feels better

The last paragraph sums it up. There must be a profit being made somewhere by vested interests, because I can't work out what the rationale is otherwise. My car is 2002 Volvo, whenever I am forced to fill with a Part Ethanol mix, it runs like a dog, will not idle smoothly and you can feel a loss of power, I mean much more than can be just attributable from the reduced energy available from the Ethanol component. I imagine it’s not just my car; others must have the same symptoms.

Where around lower Sukhumvit I can get real petrol? The pump on the corner of soi 23 is gazohol only.

  11. I can take a few weeks to a few months to get your white plates, the dealer will get it sorted for you.

I picked up my Mazda 3 at the beginning of last december. Just got my white plates on Monday....almost 5 months. Still waiting to get my 2000baht deposit back from them

You should check up on them, when I originally purchased the car they asked if I wanted a specific number for the plate...I said no. Then I enquire 2 months ago as to the status and they came back to me to say "Sorry we haven't done anything yet, we're waiting for you to give us a number for the plate" :o

The Honda I owned previously only took 1 month to get the white plate.

Have to say as much as I love my Mazda3 the service from the dealers is terrible, I'll never buy Mazda in Thailand again simply because of this :D Honda on the other hand were even better than the dealers in the UK!!!! Very suprised, called me to check everything was ok at 1 month and 6 months. Always called back when they said they would, even if they didn't have the information yet. Can't say if thats the same at all Honda branches though thats just my experience. I bought it from Sathorn Honda Branch. My Mazda from Mazda City (Lumpini), crap service...they don't know what they're doing or much about there own products and never ever return calls!!!!

Hope you have better luck than me!

My car come from Mazda Limpini as well, tried to call them today, no one to talk to...Songkran madness. Will wait till Monday..
