Going the agent route of 5000 baht, does not really help you in terms of time there.

Yes agent will get your residency certificate, doctors you will still need to visit yourself.

For new DL , bike in your case, you will need to sit the computer test, which many fail because of silly and confusing questions, the 5000 baht Agent can not help with that, then once you passed the computer test, back the next day to do all other tests and watch the video, then back again to do the riding

So basically you can do it all yourself, if you prepared to waste 2-3 days.

Cost doing yourself is less than 500 baht for each DL

The other more expansive route, does not require any paperwork or to sit any tests. Only requires to show up, watch video for 15 -20 mins, do the colorblind test and you set to go, basically about 4 hours to do it all

a person does not need a docs cert IF RE NEWING a thai driving licence at Pattaya DLT...

I did mine in Feb without Docs cert....!!

Because our car is more than 10 years old fully comprehensive insurance is not available ( from all the companies I asked )

So we have 3rd party cover with a 1 million baht limit to be paid to any injured 3rd party. It also gives 50,000 baht medical expenses to anyone in our car.

The news that was surprising to me was that it is not the driver of our car that is insured but the car itself and that anyone driving it is covered by the insurance. And so I lost a 500 baht bet with my brother in law who told me this would be the case. Not wishing to part with 500 baht easily I went to the insurance companies head office to clarify this . I put it to their manager thus. Suppose a car with this insurance is driven by an 8 year old who steals his fathers car keys , goes for a joy ride , and crashes into another car....do you pay out even though the kid has no licence. The bloke laughed and said yes they would pay out. I postulated other scenarios involving monkeys etc. Same answer.

I still find this hard to believe and have no faith that in the explanation given but have not been able to disprove it.

In the event of a fatal accident it can happen that with the best insurance you can still be in trouble if you are taken to court by the relatives and sued for a large amount exceeding the insurance limit.

my truck is 13 yrs old AND I HAVE CLASS ONE INSURANCE. I have used same broker for many  years....and am covered BY AXA...

    Where do you live??

    You are welcome

i get your point about the fact you already have a work permit

i just try to get your attention about the fact your work permit occupation

is ''director of a company'' which have nothing to do with the work of an employee at

a stall in a market, and be sure the immigration office is well aware about it.

(For example a ''chief'' with a WP for that can work in a restaurant, in the kitchen, but can not takes the orders of serving in the dining room)

Be sure also that one of your ''thais'' neighbours in the market is going sooner or later to talk about you at the Korat immigration office, and IO will be happy to come to see you and dig deep to find if all is ok.

If your stall do some competition in one way or another with a thai stall, it should be very very quick and you not even seen the end of the day before immigration come to you.

If you want to be sure at 100% you are in your right regarding the rules, i recomand you to contact the immigration office in Korat BEFORE to start your bisness, show your WP and ask them if you can work at a stall in a thai market. I am pretty sure of the answer but who know? It should be nice to give the result of your visit here on this thread, we have rarely the suites of the stories started here.

As posted just above most of the markets stalls are paid on a daily basis, if you already know what market you are interested in just find the person with the pocket going around the stalls, usually at the start of the market, or ask at one of the stalls who is in charge for the payement.

The prizes given are correct, small markets are often 10\20 bahts a day, big markets can be 50 or more. And electricity is included in the price.

    WHAT ARE THE PRIZES ????????????????????

a PRIZE IS something what one wins !!!

A lot of markets places in Thailand are owned by private people.

You are right about the price very low.

i don't get it why the OP don't just walk in and ask to the people in the market he is interested in

it's so easy to do and at least you have the good answer.

    good reply agree wholeheartedlywith you....

Why are some silly questions allowed on TV beats me....

  6. if there is a glut of condos THEN why give permission to BUILD MORE..

There is one being built on beach road Jomtien....expected number of rooms in the region of 1600

On second road there are two blocks which are virtually UNSOLD...so why allow copacabana to be built on Beach Road..

THEY JUST HAVE NO SENSE IN THIS COUNTRY...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh I forgot it is all to do with envelopes full of Thai money....
