I have stayed for 5 years on the METV (3 months abroad each year) until Covid started. However, as you correctly stated you need to be careful. In my first year, the immigration officer in BKK gave me a look like I am a serial killer. After my 1st year I entered AND left only via land borders (Nong Khai and Sungai Golock). There are plenty of more options to get your 60 days extension. I usually went to Phu Nam Ron.

Capitalism is driven by supply and demand. Extra fees is a great way to decrease the 'supply' of foreign tourists even more. => Thai Logic

We Foreigners bring disease and crime - That is the message. We don't see a report on Thai criminals, do we?

Just want to confirm if this is BS or the border has reopened. Just talked to a guy who claims he has just got a 45 day VE from Mae Sai within the last week.
This is important information. Please try to get some more details on this. If true Phu Nam Ron should be open as well. Thank you!

would be a better route. Because entering Thailand by air is for true bureaucracy lovers only. That used to be my route all the way from Singapore before the pandemic. Please share border details and when and how your last trip went. Thank you!

A place I stay at has tripled its prices since August.
Typical! The rich Thai business owners exploiting the situation. Hotel prices go up and salaries for staff go down. My girlfriend works at the reception. Had 25k in 2019 and is now offered 18k. Messed up ...

Each of us need to evaluate their own risk to wear a (N95) mask indoors. But the reason Thais are wearing masks outdoors (other than the pollution) is simply fear mongering.

Some just cannot distinguish between a working girl and a civilian. This is never appropriate behavior toward a civilian, and only appropriate with a working girl, if a deal has been struck. Groping strangers is never right. And this is coming from a guy who is not PC, and not Me Too! It is about basic respect and civility.
Agree!

Dream on, that 300THB insurance covers you for 30 days only.
Even in those 30 days. 500k is nothing if something bad is happening

Good luck with those Indian tourists. I do not like to generalize as I have worked with good Indian people in the US but Indians from India may be a different story. I remember sitting with my girlfriend at a breakfast buffet in Phuket when a party of 4 Indians refused to get up and did order the staff to serve them.
Interestingly, the ethnicities that are disliked by Thai girls the most are Arabs AND Indians. ... No wonder

This is Thai non scientific nonsense. The The BA.4 and BA.5 variants do infect more people than the older omicron variants but they are not more lethal. The reason why we see the hospitals get filled up is just a numbers game. A small percentage of a larger population will yield a larger number of patients.

It is not straightforward. (Hopefully you are vaccinated.) In principle, you must enter Laos as part of a tour. There are travel agents in Nong Khai who can help with this. Then, you need a ThaiPass to return to Thailand which includes US$10,000 (starting May 1st) of Covid insurance for at least 30 days. The days of an easy border bounce (or an easy visa run) to Laos are not yet upon us.
Thank you so much, I will need to wait

Only the crossing to Vientiane and a few Malaysia crossings are open and there are restrictions for entry.
Without doing further research, could you share what it takes to cross in Nong Khai right now. Are border runs possible there to get a stamp as I used to for a 9 month multi entry TV?
How do you see the timeline of opening in that regard? Also how about other borders like Phu Nam Ron?
Thanks @ubonjoe!

Almost $1 MILLION USD for the "privilege" of working in Thailand? Anyone paying for that needs a head check.
For that cash I can get a passport of New Zealand or Canada as well - Anybody doing that is nuts

I have not seen anything about it.
It is missing the 2nd test on day 5 in that article.
Would that entry allow foreigners from Europe or US as well?

They are trying hard to find justification for more procurement of more AstraZeneca.
Yes! Despite the clotting risks especially in young women, they do not wanna spend the cash for Pfizer or Moderna. And sinovac, which may be a little inferior but still protective against death, has In Thailand a super bad reputation.

The man is an idiot I agree. However, the quarantine Hotel system is still a cash cow. It would be way better, to be able to isolate at home or at any hotel of your choice.

Thailand is a very tolerant society with very friendly people. People like @JustAnotherFarang should stay far away from Thailand and preach somewhere in the bible belt where they belong. To me those "human" (?) beings represent the real scum on this planet! ????
