Bangkok has always been popular among foreigners.
Affordable hookers, fake passports, shaft hardening medication without prescription, songthaews, that will take you to the other end of the city for 10 bucks........
What's there not to like?
Careful taking fake viagra from the street. That might blow your kidneys for good!

I agree except you wanna buy an Apple product, brand products are usually much higher than elsewhere. Does not matter if it is Johnson lotion, the Ferrari or the Remy Martin ... all taxed crazy. In addition, in Europe I can buy non brand shower gel as all things are highly regulated. In Thailand I would not buy a local soap approved by a guy in Khasoan Rd.

I can kind of see how it could be fun to live in Bangkok but whenever I am there I spend a couple of days in the heat, traffic, and noise and I am happy to go back to Melbourne Australia. Melbourne is often voted the most liveable city in the world. If I retire in Thailand it won't be in Bangkok.
I think that is Vienna

There is almost no prostitution in Thailand.
There is no gambling in Thailand
There are very few drugs in Thailand.
Thai people would never watch porn and think it should be banned.

Also all girls in short skirts in Thailand are virgins!

The question is senseless and the concerns too little too late. Porn might be legal, but it is totally available all over the net free (somebody told me about this, I don't watch it) and without consequences. If masturbation was made illegal, how would it affect people doing? Or eating? Silly question. The question would only become somewhat worthy if porn wasn't freely available, but it is. It's kind of like burning rice and sugarcane fields being illegal. Should we make that legal? Why not? Everybody is doing it anyway.
As for the children the concern is 100% valid, but every school kid in Thailand is already watching porn on the net. All of them. Ask any of them. Most of the folks on here will deny watching the stuff (I certainly don't!), but the kids are quite candid about it, as if the question was no different than asking them if they ate breakfast.
And whomever thinks Buddhist morality is special is an idiot -- well, ignorant anyway. The Abrahamic religions have the same moral standards, stricter, if anything.
You say porn is freely available in Thailand? I am not in Thailand right now but I read it is a) illegal to see and b) that sites are blocked. Not sure if your statement can stand like that.

I am not Thai and I do not watch porn but the "majority" of my Thai circle do watch porn and would love to see it legalised
This being said, I do not see how a husband, wife, son, father or mother would answer positively to these questions especially if they are not alone when polled 555
My personal poll shows an overwhelming 95% in favour 5% not against...the rest strongly opposing
I agree even I am not sure if "95 % are in favor, 5 % not against" ... what "rest strongly opposing" you are talking about: 95 + 5 = 100 %

Please check all the appropriate boxes to make sure your Thailand Pass is complete.
I have no problem with the scam by locals such as hotels and cab drivers etc.. They wanna make cash. But being screwed by the government is an entire different story. PCR test, Mask rules, quarantine and hospital stay BS if positive that is just nuts

I was asked this a few months ago ( although not directly asked to my face) in Thai to other Thais near me at the 711 in Bang Na. I responded in baby English talk..”no no I not Chinese ..not Jin ..I am England ok” Im not sure if it was the shock of me understanding them or maybe they were offended as there were a few pasty looking Sino’s in the mix. I’m sure under their masks their mouths were wide open.
But on a more serious note it really pi##ed me off no end.
Yeah I hear you, that is one big problem I have. I like to run outside but if I need to wear a mask even if I run at 3 am I feel <deleted> stupid!
-
Easy guys, I think it depends on the time of the year. In winter with bad air I agree, lots of riders and pedestrians will wear masks already before Covid including me. With an AQI above 150, anybody would be stupid not to do so ...

Must be fun to be at the beach and in the ocean with the mask

That is so great that they have now packages called "All Inclusive" - the real name should be "Please bend over"

At this time it is a 14 day quarantine for entries by land.
Most land border crossings are closed at this time other than for special cases (repatriation is one).
So no changes on this front.

And what's the rules for re-entering Thailand via land border from Cambodia?

Right but I doubt for foreigners like us

@BritTim interesting thought my friend but for people staying in Thailand for years on tourist visa crossing only land borders, would face surely a dire scenario at the airport

Who wants to pay 350000 THB for a quarantine stay after a positive PCR test post touchdown in BKK like the fellow that spend his vacation in quarantine separated from his family. No health insurance pays that if you are not sick.

The purpose of COE or Thailand pass is to make money from tourists. There is no hassle when you arrive in the US.
Hassle or not there is no country in the world that treats a traveller as bad as immigration in the US - Citizen or not ... no difference

No surprise here. Chiang Mai is not the typical destination for the fat, beer drinking, red belly and red head sun grilling affluent tourist. Chiang Mai clientele may not wanna jump through many rings and pay all kinds of fees for BS.

The one on Victory Monument I am familiar also - @Sheryl is correct that one is also a good public option (have been there with my girlfriend) and also there the junior resident will get back with the chief - that one is across Mahidol if I remember correctly.
In regards to the Siriraj option I was actually referring to the semi-private option that looks like a palace despite their competitive pricing vs Burungrad etc... - the public option is of course with long waiting and much less pomp. however, the reputation is also first grade here as well

I go for best value to the Siriraj in BKK, just across the river. Top doctors and top service that will charge more but still less than other private hospitals that make stupid tests just for milking cash out of you. That being said I have first hand experience also with Chulalongkorn University Dermatology. If you have time, I can recommend that one too. You need to show at 5.30 in the morning in the main hall (maybe 600 people there with you) down at Rama IV across Lumpini Park and get registered. By 10 am you should wait in dermatology. I was there twice and you will see a very junior doctor (resident I think) but she will check with her boss. The chief saw me speaks fluent english - I checked her on Linkedin she spent 3 years in Chicago training there => 250 THB

Quite judgmental your post! I can have compassion with anyone that suffers from Covid. So you only have compassion for certain professions like medical doctors but not garbage men or prostitutes. Interesting, I need to agree with @seeyoujimmy here all the way!
