    How much did you pay?

Why not contact a lawyer? I mean, if you are keen enough to pay 40,000 THB or whatever the amount was, why not hire a lawyer and ask him for his advice and pay some money and then ask him if you can pay him double that in case the police stops you for a urine test you can call him. If it's a Sino-Thai lawyer with pictures of his papa high up the wall as a judge or whatever, it would be really possible that you can call him at the next event and get some real help. Only for the affluent of course who can pay 40k for such an offence.

    In short, better call Saul.

cops will always be cheaper than any lawyer.

Not if you leave from either airport in Bangkok (BKK or DMK). At other airports and at land border crossing you will be fined 500 baht.

So incredible again that the rule is different at airports ! Are you sure that land borders do not just pocket the money ?

Seriously, you get your bedroom temperature down to 18C if it's running well... with room temperature currently over 30C? IMO that would be impossible unless your bedroom was totally sealed, small and extremely well insulated with no cool air escaping under the doors or anywhere. Cool air sinks and quickly escapes under the doors. You don't really want your room totally sealed though, as you'll build up too much CO2 if there's no ventilation.

I've tested my bedroom unit to see how low I could go. I managed 21 point something Celcius, and that was a big effort with the compressor running full time. I set mine at 26 - 28C depending on what the room temperature and humidity are before I start it.

Totally agree that this is the only right way to set an aircon but people are so crazy, and do not understand that the only thing that is needed is few degrees less than outside and dry air.

Get a clean $10 bill before you go. If you want to pay in baht they charge 500 baht.

There is a fair sized town on the Myanmar side. You are not allowed to go any further afield than that without a Myanmar visa arranged in advance.

When I have gone, I have chosen to walk from the airport to the bridge. That would not be everyone's choice, of course, but the exercise is good for me. If looking for a cheap option, I seem to remember that songthaews from town pass the airport on the way to the bridge. I am sure you can find an overpriced taxi if that is your preference.

I want to try to walk also !

I find it fun to walk from plane to border and come back hahahaha...

Just hope that it won't be a sunny day.

Which airlines go to maesot for cheap ? airasia I guess ?

    Thanks again.

If you are looking for a cheap in/out with a multiple entry Non O, it is good to bear Mae Sot in mind. Flights from Bangkok are cheap, and the airport is about 2 km from the border. The Myanmar border pass is US$10. You can walk across the bridge between Thai and Myanmar immigration.

Thank you, I didn't know about maesot, so it costs only 300 thb to go out and in by walking ?

where can we go with myanmar pass to look around ?

And how much to go from airport to border ? Tuk tuk ?

The only liquid around should be water, but that should not be around the condenser unit.

    Is it oil?

Given it is likely out of warranty, you might as well get a local guy. They’ll all know how to check and top off the gas, and clean it, this service is their bread & butter. They should also know how to find and fix a leak, but if the leak is slow they often do not.

You telling him what to do might not go well. Just tell them it’s not getting cool enough and you want it serviced.

It is like clear water, maybe it was freezing because of gaz leak, and then let water ? But I didn't see any ice.

Thank you, but I never let anyone fix anything without telling him what the problem seems to be, even doctors :-)

Fixing the leak, after reading reports everywhere, I do not believe so much, this is why I was looking for an official service center with good equipment.

But yes, I will finally maybe just try a random guy. This is Thailand...

  8. hello,

I called Toshiba and they do not sell parts, they can only order it after the guy comes to check. But I checked already and I exactly know that the water entrance valve needs to be changed.

Do you know where I could buy Thai washing machine parts ? Any website ?

In the past Amorn was good, but do you know if they still selle washing machine parts ?

    Thank you.

The problem is never just gas. If it needs gas it is leaking.

Is the coil in the indoor unit freezing over? This is usually the first sign of a leak,

    How long you had it?

How long have you had it

    hi,

I opened the outdoor unit and it's wet under the compressor but no sign of leakage on the compressor pipes. Maybe the connection to compressor ?

When gaz is leaking, do we have liquid around ? (gaz becomes liquid ?).

5 years only, 8 hours a night, no freezing anywhere.

I called daikin hotline who asked me to call rayong branch, hos stupid it is for a famous brand as them. I guess that it was the last time that I buy it.

I am now looking for a random guy who could find from where it's leaking. Do you know the process to find a leak ? I can try to explain him if he doesn't know :-)

    Thanks a lot.

By yourself, not easily. If it's not cooling at all or is freezing up the indoor unit it's likely no/low gas.

Call your local aircon man, he will should have the proper kit to vacuum check and re-gas.

Thank you, I will try to find a reliable Daikin repair service, as it is an inverter.

It seems that it cool less and less days after days.

Outside unit fans turns but air that comes out of it is not hot, so it seems that compressor is not moving quickly enough.

If the problem was only gaz, do you know if the compressor would be more hot ? Or gaz leaking can slow the compressor and then bring less cool air inside the room ?

    Thanks again.

Air Conditioners are sealed, closed-loop units with service valves and I have only seen indicators on high-end commercial units. The indications that it needs gas are when it stops air conditioning... as you have noticed. Daikin are reputable brand and 5 years isn't old so it probably does need a qualified tech to check it out. However, if you have had 10 different companies look at it over the past 5 years, there may be something wrong like a bad installation (poor or restricted airflow around the external condenser or internal evaporator unit) or even low or 'rough' voltage. That tends to bugger up compressors.

Best tech I ever had was an installation guy from Numchai in Naklua (Pattaya) that replaced a unit at my old place. He left his phone number and I used him several times for the annual checks and repairs on the other units.

    Hello,

Anybody knows how to check that a Daikin needs gaz and leaks ?

(aircon is suddenly very slow to cool the room)

Or which technician will know how to check ?

    Thank you.
