3,743 people had been placed under probation for offences related to driving from Saturday 10th to Wednesday 14th April inclusive.
Is this probation pending charges or were they just given a light slap on the wrist?

I get together with friends from various countries every Saturday and we are ALL grateful for being in Thailand. I'd suggest you weigh your options a little more. The grass ain't any greener in the UK right now.

Facebook has a group called "Items for sale- Pattaya" which includes home rentals and sales. Lots of great deals, you can start looking right now. Very few people are moving now so the prices are low.

The types of foreign retirees targeted will be those who have a healthy pension pot, with the ability to spend 200,000 - 300,000 baht per month.
Why would anyone with this available discretionary spending come to Thailand?

And this on the China vaccine:
"China is in a tight spot after the country’s top health official admitted efficacy rates for Chinese Covid-19 vaccines are 'not high.' He suggested either increasing doses or mixing with other vaccines to improve performance."-

I seem to recall a degenerate reprobate and his administration trying the same thing. Caused a LOT of unnecessary deaths.

I bought a bottle of Amaretto at Friendship around noon, then started off to see my friends. I got stopped on 3rd road where Exzite used to be. When I lifted my motorbike seat to get my papers, the BiB started to salivate, seeing the bottle. I showed him how the seal was still intact, handed him the receipt for it, and it took the wind out of his sail.

Chonburi (Pattaya) is number 12 on the list. I presume alcohol can be purchased for home consumption?
For now it is OK, but I have certainly stocked up!

I JUST got back from Jomtien immigration today. I had done my 90-day online but neglected to print out the receipt. By the time I got around to printing the receipt, the web site had gone down. I knew my next report date was around 10 May, so I went in, explained the situation, and she gave me a brand new 90 day date of 2 July. I could tell she was a little annoyed and just wanted me out of there.

Why wasn't he allowed to board?
There was confusion between A&A airline and some Japan airline whether or not his Covid test was done within an acceptable time window. This could possibly have resulted in a 2-week quarantine in Japan. What he learned from this is to book with ONE AIRLINE for the entire trip. Of course, the price skyrockets in doing this, but he loses his job and his pension if he doesn't get back soon.

I have a friend who desperately needs to get back to the states. The rules for travel are ugly, confusing, and he was turned away from the plane just before boarding. At least he got a full refund for the flight (but NOT for the mandatory Covid test) and will try again tomorrow. Certainly NOT the time to travel unless it's absolutely necessary.

So my question is, is this normal.
There is no normal. It's always negotiating for what works for the both of you. The last time I brought an octopus into bed, she responded by spraying me with creamed corn. Since then, we've never been happier!

If anything, the situation has tightened because of the situation in Ratchapruek where the teacher was caught on video physically abusing a little one. Before that, many schools hired teachers without a certified Bachelors degree with a wink and a nod. Now schools are refusing to hire as immigration is scrutinizing them carefully. I personally know of a school that had to let 15 teachers go because they didn't have the degree. I spoke with a school rep who told me they're desperate for native speakers but can't find any. They're resorting to hiring NNES and the parents aren't happy about it. This may change over the next month or so (early to mid-May is the start of the new school year) but we know how Thailand reacts slowly and not always logically.

"and not taking advantage of tourists."
The very fact they are aware of this as a problem speaks volumes! And once tourism gets back up to speed will taking advantage of tourists be approved again?

I got a DUI decades ago in Washington State. The memory of the chunk they took outta my a$$ will stay with me forever. Until something similar happens here, they won't care. C'mon! Probation?!?
