As someone who is planing a retirement in the LoS, theses slightly confusing and muddle messages do cause a little uncertainty, especially if your situation is not exactly standard. If your income is from a business that declares it's income annually, but that income when divided by 12 (on paper) exceeds the the 65K monthly income requirement... would that still qualify? We are considering selling them (they aren't in our home country, and we wouldn't settle there) setting up a company in Thailand buying 3 small condos for rental and a small house for us, would that change the income requirement, or would that then mean we aren't retiring? And for the 800k on deposit or 65k per month, is that per person or is the figure amended for a couple, as a couple would only pay 1 rent (or not if you have bought) and living costs don't actually double?

wow ..haven't you been reading any of the posts ....or are you just  not sure of the sites forums ......spend sometime on the site buddy ...an you will learn alot .... and work out the bullshit from the wingers and the genuine ..it's hard work ......good luck ..

  2. Because they abuse the system with over stays , getting extensions on extensions and border bus trips visa extensionsand just pissing on immigration , its not the correct way to stay in thailand...

I do what you do 5-8trips a year ...never ever ever been questioned...

Yeh i'm one those 30-60 day millionaires. ..lol!!!!

    Hi everybody,

With some confusion I'm reading more and more comments and see more and more threads coming up from people that do enter Thailand several times per year on Visa Exemption (= allowed to stay up to 30 days for most countries) mentioning that...

    - they got refused to enter and sent back

    or

    - got any stamps/comments/marks under their stamp that their next entry will most likely be dienied because "you come too often without proper visa"

    or

    - are questioned in a "private room" and let in "1 last time" being told next time they have to come with a proper visa.

I don't know what exactly the deal is or if I'm just a super lucky guy but in my passport I have over 20 (!) pages with stamps from Suvarnabhumi airport officers showing my "record" of the past 5-6 years: I never ever had or applied for a Visa, I always present my passport at immigration at Suvarnabhumi airport and get a stamp (Visa Exemption) that allows me to stay up to 30 days. I never ever was questioned about my strange looking passport with tons of stamps and even more the huge entry list the computer must show the officer that checks/scans my passport. I come to Thailand by plane 7-9 times every year and stay between 12-20 days per trip. Never longer (maybe one time 2 or 3 years ago I did stay 25 days) because I need to take care of my business in Europe as well and that for can't afford to stay 4+ weeks.

Just wondering if anyone got an idea why I never faced any issues why other members here do have so many problems while having far less stamps/entries than me over the past months/years?

    Cheers,

    lemonwaterjoe

  3. To all the farang ..not falang you fools ....leave 2mrw in you are not happy lah...

Meanwhile in Lie land the immigration/ tourist department is trying to tell more lies to cover up the completely stupid decisions regarding retirees and visa rules and generally denying that the country is heading down the toilet, shortly to be followed by yet another coup, which may not be as laughable as the previous ones.    Could be a comedy sketch if it wasn't the truth......

  4. How come, you've been married nearly 32years and abided by the rules...what are you talking about....
Wow 42years, and you havn't got it sorted yet.?

    As do I.
After 42 years here and being 82 yrs old also married for 32 yrs do I have to leave the country before the 2nd of April, due to new Immigration rules.
I seriously think to end it all.

  5. Hopefully you dont live in thailand...

Some of us have been querying for a long time, whether Thailand is counting arrivals or holiday-makers.

Not at all the same thing. I think there's quite a body of evidence, even anecdotal evidence, that tourism in Thailand is following the same path of tourism in Spain and Greece before it. In their zeal to grab all the golden eggs, they killed the Golden Goose.

To improve things, Thais might start by making Thailand a more pleasant place to spend one's retirement, lots of opportunity given the state of USA and Europe at the moment. Instead, many Thais love to kick OAP's in the head or arrest them for playing bridge or darts so they can feel better about themselves. And then they cry when nobody wants to come to Thailand any more. Too many other places to go with populations which are are more civilised in their behaviour and which don't look down their noses at foreigners and try to swindle them all the time.

Not that you can tell a Thai anything about anything of course, they know everything from birth, which is the reason they never have to learn how to drive, or paint a room, or dig a hole. That's what happens when you have a demi-God to lead you, you progress beyond being a savage and are able to stop living in shanty towns and trees.

Still, wait a while, they might change. Stranger things have happened, even if not very often.

  6. Tight ass.!!!! Lol...

Right. Because most people suddenly decide to visit Asia and choose Thailand so they don’t have to pay a few bucks.

Anyone want to go to Peru with me next week? They are running a deal that’s so good that I couldn’t pass on... we don’t have to pay $20 for the entry visa. What a deal!

They would be better employed focusing on Tourist safety me thinks

Better and improved safety standards across the whole Tourist Sector might, - just might bring back some Tourists.

"Where have all the Chinese gone"?

Well I would say they have gone just the same way as every group of "quality tourists" that come to Pattaya. Once the reality of the place dawns and word gets around they will simply go anywhere else but here.

My other half was asking me similar questions a few years ago when the Russian families all but disappeared for a time. I simply put one question to her and she has never asked again, that question being: Would you like it and what would we do if we were on holiday here in the middle of Pattaya with our daughter?

Ultimately there is little here to interest or accommodate normal families, take away the bars etc, and what would there be to interest anyone? Here is a brief list of what Pattaya does have.

    Endless prostitution.

    Filthy sea and beaches.

    Litter strewn streets.

    Constant harassment.

    Permanent traffic jams.

Having to walk on roads due to lack of pavements or pavements blocked with vehicles, retailers etc etc.

Nowhere to safely cross busy roads.

    It is rife with crime.

It is rife with antisocial behaviour.

It is rife with corruption and dishonesty.

Constant harassment from police if you drive.

They now want to charge first world prices for third world quality and service.

BRING IT ON.....!!!!!! I love it all ....

    couple of kilometers from "PATTAYA".....

I am assuming that the 3 embassies stating the same information have gotten their info from a high level source at the Immigration Bureau.

If those rogue offices that start doing silly things they could be reported to the bureau or the division over them.

I am hoping somebody will report the nonsense requirements that the Phuket immigration office is putting out.

    Mate ,

It seems they still accepted the income affidavit but they wanted back up proof for it. That has been asked for by Phuket immigration before.

It you have a total of 480k baht of income being transferred into your account over the past year it should be accepted since clause 2.18 of the police for states average income is allowed.

"(6) In the case of marriage to a Thai woman, the alien husband must earn an average annual income of no less than Baht 40,000 per month or must have no less than Baht 400,000 in a bank account in Thailand for the past two months to cover expenses for one year."

    Hi,

So where's the problem , i don't understand , if they require more do it /if they want you to jump a hoop do it .

I like the new focus on pre requirements ,might get rid of some of these people living in thailand on the wrong visas and with the  incorrect prerequisites to obtain visas...( looks like the retirement visa in most cases are up setting alot of "Farangs").

I really feel sorry for the "Farangs" in thailand saying "I don't have the money for the retirement/marriage visa in a bank account ,

Why are you even in thailand ,Visa renewal every year /everybody wants to see money in the bank as requested!!!....I don't understand .....
