Thanks Richard and also previous poster Cowbee. My life in los little different...been here several years and never done 90 day report. I fly out of Thailand every couple of weeks. Yes I live bkk and familiar with CW. An annual trip there for my extension (based on retirement) is for me a crap day. I don't wish to sound cocky, but if possible I would prefer just pay someone to "take care of things. In any event, I seriously appreciate the replies
If you want. You can contact them https://www.conciergepattaya.com

Hello members, lived here several yrs on annual extensions (retirement). I have current au drivers & bike license. Lease etc.
I do not have "certificate of residence". I'm aware I can obtain at au embassy. I live bkk, so not hard, but if possible would rather pay for " assistance". I could attend department office. Just curious are there agents that can assist. I don't really wish to visit au embassy. Thank you in advance
I knew one agent but she stay in Pattaya. I use their service last year to make my Thailand DL both car and bike. It cost between 3000 or 5000 baht, I do really forgot.
They only need your passport, copy of visa page (if you have), photos and TM7 card. They will do the rest for certificate of residence and other documents.

ED visa can help you but i suggest dont go often to any borders. Except for extensions or laos border. They are much more friendly than other borders.

I think you are wrong. To drive here ASEAN countries are the exception and not required to use an IDP
Well. Practically maybe like that but on the road, that is not something you can argue about. TiT, and dont forget Thailand is the #3 corrupt countries in the Asia.

Has anybody converted their ASEAN license into a Thai and did this go without any problems? ASEAN license does not require international permit to drive in Thailand but I wonder if that is true for the conversion as well.
Thanks in advance.
You still need international driving license for driving in Thai. They can convert international driving license but depend on the convention year. (Must be under 1968)

This issue is real, two of my friends also reported that they had a difficulties when entering the kingdom, one from Poi Pet imm, and the other one is from Suvarnabhumi airport, both of them was suspecting for abusing the visa, they asking for hotel booking reservation, return ticket and need to showing money at least 3K baht (can raise up to 20K baht if you don't have hotel reservation and return ticket).

You could also try one of those PoRoBor shops or the DLT and take someone who speaks Thai with you.
Yes many bigger adventure bikes have auxiliary lights on them but they usually don't leave them running during the day and they also usually don't have a blue tint.
This is true. I never turn on my fog lamps (I have 2 pairs of fog lamps) because its only wasting energy by turning them on at the day and my fog lamps is not a blue tint.

There is currently no limit is Savannakhet (but there are requirements to be met when applying for a tourist visa there). In Vientiane, after three or four applications, they will put a stamp in your passport that prevents you getting more there (though Savannakhet will still give them).
Is there any visa service to Savannakhet ? Can you recommend ? What is the requirements ?
What I do for 2 years in LOS is 3 times to Laos, 2 times to Cambodia, 1-2 times flight to nearby country (vietnam, malaysia) but I never know about Savannaket, maybe I should try it

Just be careful with Thailand, you can come here but after a few entries you may have problem.
Happened to me when they refused me a visa in Ventiane because it was my 3th request in a row.i entered finally with a visa waiver
Now I m on my 3rd visa waiver entry and officer told me what I was doing next. I said I will take plane and go home.
But I will be 50 in September so I will try to get a tourist visa for 2 months in savanakhet then apply for a retirement visa in Ventiane . (O visa)
So if you want stay long term in Thailand, Regreattbly it s not possible anymore unless you apply for a retirement visa or a elite visa or get married or student.
All they want is money or Out!

You don't mention if you want to check the bike for technical faults. Maybe you should do that before you buy it.
Some time ago I had a bike with some issues (just getting old) and I drove it to Red Baron on Ramkamhaeng so that they could check it and give me an idea how much it would cost to fix everything. I knew maybe 10 problems. They came up with at least another 10 problems which I did not realize. Sometimes it's good to have some professionals check your bike...
I have checked the bike, overall still in good condition with mint dent that is acceptable, electricity still fully working, engine sound smooth, tire nearly new in fact its only 8.xxx km and this bike is only 1 year (2017) so I supposed there's not problem with the bike as far as I can see..
Thank you for your advise and suggestion ?

Insurance companies always look for a reason not to pay out and I wonder (don’t know) if this might be a reason????
Might be worth investigating that to?

Put it in your name as soon as possible..there is no price reduction per owner.
Thank you, if there's no price reduction, I will consider to transfer to my name asap.

agree with above. No problem. If the owner is ok with it just give him the money and collect the bike with green book. Keep driving and just renew insurance and tax every year. BUT, selling the bike one day might become nearly impossible.
"Selling bike one day might become nearly impposible", EXCEPT I transfer it to my own name IF I want to sell it isn't ? I mean, when I ready to sell, I will transfer to my own name first, so not right now.
When the previous owner no longer in Thai, am I still able to transfer to my own name ?
I just check, he's the 2nd owner and if I buy it then Im the 3rd owner, what is the disadvantage ? How many percent the price drop if I sell it ?
Thank you

No problems with Tax and insurance the expired visa only causes problems when buying/selling....you could keep the bike forever and never get the name change done and still ride it perfectly legally....though maybe strictly speaking it isnt your bike until your name is in the green book.
Understood, for now Im thinking to keep the bike for me forever BUT we dont know what will happen so I need to considering other possibility.
Thank you for your explanation.

i would bring a translator with me and insist with payment
they check if bike & book are legal, i take for granted they will perform the service
if payed, just ask how much to check legality
I'll take ur suggestion and bring Thai's friend to speak with them regarding this, Thank you for your suggestion

will your embassy provide a residency certificate?
Yes they will, but will take time around 2 weeks, meanwhile owner wont wait for that long and i dont want to risk my money to transfer him first, we need to make it clear since the first time

Worse case you wont be able to transfer to your name or anyone else's until you get in contact with the Englishman and get him to send you a copy if his exit from Thailand stamp..
Name transfer and new plate should not take long..(a few days)
You can ride the bike while waiting. Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it
1 more question. What if the visa expired, Am i still able to renew the tax and insurance when the owner visa is already expired or the owner fly back and never return ?
