  1. How long has this stupid "bad guys out, good guys in" been thrown around now? Things won't change till it's "useless Thai cops out, decent cops in"
  2. They weren't buying them, they were props bought by the owners to make it look like some sort of carwash/valet/detail company
  3. isn't it just normal practice for a police force to suppress illegal drugs, firearms and anything else illegal? By the sound of this it seems the idea is a novelty in Thailand
  4. I have been using Phyathai at Sriracha for 5+ years. reasonable prices and more importantly excellent and competent surgeons/doctors. Wouldn't go anywhere else in Chonburi
  5. Get your facts right, they were stopped at an intersection when they were crushed by the truck which was turning
  6. Thailand will sit on the fence until it decides which side it would be most profitable to back. A bit like WW2 when Thailand declared war on the allies but didn't get involved because they couldn't decide which side was winning till 1945, then it was too late
  7. 180 baht a pint at Loft Pub out at lake Mabprachan. Not as good as Guiness in the UK but it's passable
  8. Yes other countries have drunk drivers but they're dealt with approriately. In the UK if there was no death involved it's a £1,000 fine and 1 year driving ban for the drink driving offence. But because a death is involved the driving ban could be 2-3 years and jail time on top of that. There's just zero deterrent in Thailand
  9. I already have accident insurance in Thailand but i will have to pay 300 baht every time i come back to the country. Certain Thais are going to get SERIOUSLY rich from this latest scam because you can guarantee the money is not going to be directed where they say it will. Another hub for Thailand, government scams
  10. I'm also in Pattaya and 6 months ago bought an analogue TV box from Tuk Com X96 Max and it's excellent , i think around 2,000 baht, I don't think there is an app which allows you to watch EPL football, if there was i would have it. I used to have True vision but their movies are <deleted> and i was paying 3,000 a month just for the football so i cancelled it
  11. The sign of a totally immature society, the government suggests legalising the green stuff and everyone goes bonkers. There's already been dozens of cases of hospital admissions in Thailand due to idiots overdosing on the stuff, people need to grow up

  13. Some people just can't let go of the power. I'm sure they want covid to come back.
  14. I've had a problem for a long time with neighbbour's cats using our garden as a toilet, tried a few things to stop them but nothing works......till now, i might get a python
  15. That amount will seem like a drop in the ocean when the Chinese submarines arrive and are parked up for 20 years ????
  16. I fail to see the need to argue about mask wearing now that the Thai government say they're not required in open spaces. If you want to wear one then great, carry on, if like me you don't want to wear one that's also great. I think it's called freedom of choice while following government advice at the same time
  17. Barclays bank in the UK still has debit and credit cards with raised embossed characters. The last one i received was 2019, due a new debit card next month
  18. Debit and credit cards are completely different, i have both with Kasikorn bank. Debit card doesn't have my name on, only card number and "privileged member" Credit card has my name and other details on, all embossed
  19. Don't know who will be the next person in the white house but it won't be a democrat????
  20. Don't know for sure but i suspect these Thai alcohol restrictions may be related to British licencing laws. Until 10 years ago bars in the UK were only allowed to open Mon to Sat 11am till 3pm and 6pm till 10.30pm (so closed 3pm till 6pm) Sun noon till 2pm and 7pm till 10pm (so closed 2pm till 7pm) These licencing hours were introduced during the 1st world war because of munition factory workers who went for a beer at lunch time and didn't return to work. Just a thought, they made sense in 1914 - 1918 but not now.
  21. I opened an account with Kasikorn while here as a tourist in 2009. My girlfriend (now wife) went with me and it all went smooth, after 30 minutes i came out with an ATM card and a bank book. After 13 years i still have the same account and fixed deposit. Not sure if it is still so easy but taking a Thai speaker to Kasikorn definitely helps
