A grade A replica Rolex Sub is more like US$ 4-500, not Bt 3k, and no Bt 3k replica will not be absolutely perfect.  Any authorised dealer would instantly spot that the watch was not real, especially if they adjusted the strap.  They may have resized it for you, but they certainly wouldn't have been fooled.

Where can one purchase these Grade AAA replicas?

I wrote this blog about it. You're welcome. ????

    https://davesrave.net/eleven-day-sailboat-skipper-course/

I hung out in my hotel there for several days afterward, then drove over to Mae Phim Beach, east of Rayong, for a couple days (where I'd been at the beginning of February). But I quickly started to feel bored with it, so drove back to BKK yesterday. Then I learned BKK will become a "dark red zone" again starting tomorrow, which includes the order to not leave "unless necessary;" which is, of course, pretty vague. But since I just got back, I don't really feel like leaving again right away. And the last "lockdown" was actually not that burdensome....

Great story on your blog about the sailing course. I enjoyed reading it a lot.

Expert Watch in Bangkok is the usual authenticator for Rolex on the secondary market in Bangkok. They're well respected and pretty much all the big second hand dealers selling on Siamnaliga go through them. In any case, don't buy from random dealers. There are a few well established used watch dealers in town and I would stick with them.

Where are the used watch dealers in Bangkok, please?

  4. You can get a new passport from the U.S. Consulate in Bangkok in less than two weeks after it arrives there. You fill out the application, submit it with photograph along with the old passport, and they will EMS it to you when it returns from the U.S. Mine was back in less than 2 weeks. You pre-pay the EMS charge in addition to the application fee. Easy-peasy. They provide a letter to Immigration explaining the deal.

I've been to both Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital.  They seem to me to be about equally good.  Equally expensive too, though.  I had one experience where the department I was using at Bumrungrad tried obviously to gouge me, and that left a bad impression.  Other departments, though, I've had only good experiences with.

Like health systems everywhere, the trick is finding a doctor (or doctors) you like and trust and a hospital that gives good value for money.

I highly recommend BNH Hospital at the top level (compared to Bumrungrad, for example, where I was misdiagnosed for something that BNH treated correctly).

I have no problem paying for this, let them make some profit it gets you in front of the line. I dont think 4000 bt is too much for this.

  7. Who's going to issue this so-called "Vaccine Passport"? It's very unlikely a risk-adverse government like the one in the U.S. is going to take the lead in issuing such a document. The World Health Organization has a yellow vaccination book, but the certifications in it are subject to widespread abuse, and just about anyone with a rubber stamp can sign it. I foresee a huge black market for them emerging in China or other places known for counterfeit documents. And given how slow Thailand is in rolling out its own vaccination campaign, who honestly thinks they are going to welcome tourists back as early as March or April 2021.

You're right--they are larger and more expensive than the front 48sqm studios.  I don't recall an odd shape with the one we looked at--it was a long rectangular box.  I believe there are some odd shaped units at the turn where the wings and front section meet.  We had an issue with the price--considering it was a shell--and the lack of windows for the large space.  Also, there was a bit of a privacy issue with the curved balconies and the kitchen window was too high to look out of, if I remember.

Thais think they feel and look like coffins, and Chinese think the Feng shui is bad. Enough said. Like many condos they have not been great investments, and rental rates have dropped considerably, as they have in the other View Talay buildings.

What horribly bad fact reporting.  The headline says....

Covid-19 from Tachilek found in 7 Thai provinces

Seven?  Then why does article only mentions one province by name?

I suppose the the woman from Sing Buri province is actually now in Sing Buri province (though the article doesn't actually say that clearly).  The article also does not mention which province the 5 health care workers are in, but as they eat lunch together one would guess they are not in 5 separate provinces.

So at best the article gives us only:

    • 1 clearly stated province
    • 1 ambiguously stated province
    • 1 unknown province

With basic math, that's 3 provinces not 7.

Even with the fuzziest of math, it's no more than 4 or 5 provinces max!

    Ugh.

The hospital where health workers were infected is BNH Hospital in Bangkok. The workers were at an ASQ hotel affiliated with BNH, and have been isolated and quarantined. Naturally, it caused a panic among BNH visitors and patients.

    We use moonpig.com

Book up to a year in advance and forget about it. You can put your pictures into the cards and text to personalise them.

Thanks for this information. It will be very useful once I learn how to insert a photo into the card. Working on the signature part now. Many thanks.

Yes if I can find it, I lost a work bag some months back including my mobile. I'll check for his number and post if I find it.

Thank you. Too bad about losing contacts. In theory one can back up phone contacts to laptop, but this reminds me I haven't done it since I bought my current mobile phone.

About 3 years back my taxi in Ho Chi Minh called to say car broken down (call taken by one of my local students).

Same student said 'do you want me to call a GRAB car?. All agreed car arrived 10 minutes later, young driver, 19 yo, out of the car in a second to take my brief case and get me comfortable.

Got his number, I call him on LINE before I leave Thailand, he meets me at Ton Son Naut airport, drives me everywhere.

His car (borrowed from his mum), in good order, so clean you can't believe. very pleasant young guy, clean and polite, always checks the pick up details, and he speaks advanced English. Cheaper than local taxis.

Would you be willing to share his number for when and if I ever get to go back to HCMC?

Yes, I have AIS 5G service on my new Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G phone.  You need a nearby 5G tower, a 5G-enabled phone, a 5G SIM card and a 5G monthly data plan for it to work.  I live two blocks away from AIS's only 5G tower in Hua Hin, but the signal and speed is excellent.

I even bought and set up the "Huawei 5G CPE Pro" device from AIS and use it for 5G wireless service for all the networked devices in my condo.  It's 6-8x faster than my 3BB DSL and only cost about 300 baht a month more.  I made a YouTube video explaining how everything works, but I got dinged here last time I tried to post a link to one of my videos.  PM me if you want the details.

Would love to see your video about the Huawei 5G CPEPro device.

  14. I love the idea- being a newly relocated-from-Bangkok Pattaya resident who misses the arts and culture scene in Bangkok. But truth be told, Bangkok itself is just now awakening on the international arts and culture scene - see Bangkok Biennale, the Charoenkrung Creative District, RIver City, and other initiatives, and Chiang Mai's new MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum. What passes for art in Pattaya are the galleries of overpriced bad copies of masterpieces and sadly little else (someone mentioned tattoo parlors). I agree with one poster who said sex, drugs and rock & roll are the best bet- conveniently located concert venues that would book some of the major acts that turn up in Bangkok, and legalizing marijuana would attract backpackers back, and lastly- a major incentive program for foreign retirees to fill the thousands of empty condo units. But drugs and rock & roll go against views of the puritanical ruling political class, so they don't stand a snowball's chance in hell. But hey, making Walking Street a "family friendly destination" is a sure winner!

It would actually be $16,020 USD at current exchange rates.  If it was possible, you can probably expect the max credit card interest rate, and it would look something like this...

Very good reminder. And why I decided to wait and not put it on a credit card just yet. Thanks for the graphic.

I still find it funny ( or sad might be better)   that with many so adamant that anyone who "self insures"

is an idiot....................... I just read almost every other post stating bad experiences with insurance companies.   Then of course the sage advice to "choose carefully"   .    hahahah

seems like that is not as easy as it sounds.

Meanwhile...... I have NEVER had a problem with my insurer

I have both Pacific Prime and Cigna Global policies (and am 75 years old). My Cigna monthly premium is very high ($450/month), but it has no exclusions except no coverage in N. America, and a $1500 annual deductible. My Pacific Prime policy (CV-19 coverage and world-wide) is THB 85,000/year. I've fortunately not had to make a claim on either policy, but a friend who also has Cigna Global had everything covered for cancer surgery and treatment at BNH Hospital in Bangkok.
