  1. UPDATE! We got our year extension and they didn’t even question the dip below 800k. We had gotten a full year statement from the bank. It showed on there as well as in the bank book. So I honestly don’t know if he just missed it or forgave it. Hopefully it’s true that at least in hua hin at the moment, they allow a dip if the money is put back in within the same day like we were told. Theres hope!
  2. Just a quick update, we did talk to immigration who actually told us that one day going below the 800 isn't a bit deal, it will be overlooked! But I feel like I'll only believe that when I see it. :) We will go in in a few weeks to renew, I will post back what happens.
  3. I didn’t know they would consider half of our joint account. I will certainly bring that bankbook or statement with us. Thanks for this advice!
  4. I appreciate your understanding of the big picture here, and that things are certainly done differently in Thailand. And that’s for working hard to help us find a solution.
  5. Agreed. Just to be clear, we are certainly not interested in doing anything illegal. I appreciate everyones feedback, it is valuable. We will plan to talk to both an agent and immigration as soon as possible and be completely honest with them. I think that's better than trying to hide it and risk having to leave quickly. And if they ask for a "fee" to fix things, that's on them. We won't be bribing them. And my conscience will be clean. :) I will report back what happens but the lesson learned is always the same in Thailand no matter the situation...you have to always dot all your i's and cross all your t's.
  6. Yes but unfortunately the other account did not have the amount needed at the exact same time. So if we got a statement from the other bank, together with the 800k bank, it still would not show enough money at the same time. (Saturday afternoon for 20 minutes...) So wouldn't do any good I don't think. We also have a shared account of course that has enough money, but I don't think they will accept that either because my name is on it.
  7. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. He does have another bank account but that was the problem…he normally uses that one but had an unexpected larger amount of money he needed to pay and didn’t have enough in the normal one…thus used the retirement one. Being a common sense reasonable person, he didn't think it should be a problem. And it shouldn’t, but that’s already been discussed at length here. The overstay would end up being about 2.5 or 3 weeks. Probably not possible to overstay that long right? May have to just suck it up and meet with an agent to figure out our options. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal if he was denied and we had to start all over again, except I (wife) and child have happily been on a dependent non o for these years, and I’ve been hearing rumors that they are just not approving those anymore. So that’s my biggest worry.
  8. Thanks. Good advice Gsxrnz. They do normally look at the bank book as well don't they? Im quite sure it will show on that.
  9. Thanks so much for all the comments. it’s in Hua Hin immigration. What about the fact that we have also been bringing in 65k baht per month for several months, including this month? Could that qualify for the “combo bank sum and income” method?
  10. Hello, looking for some advice, maybe some thinking outside the box. My husband has been on a retirement visa extension for several years now, and I on a dependent. 800,000 in the bank method. We are about a month from renewing, and he accidentally dipped below the amount by about 9k. It was a Saturday, and we almost immediately (within half a hour) transferred money back into the account. But I’m sure this will show up when we get the bank book updated. Is there a chance immigration will be reasonable at all? If not, is there a way around the bank book not showing it? For example, it seems that at some point when you have a ton of transactions and you haven’t updated your book, it won’t take the time to update each one, just give the latest one. Any other ideas? Or do we need to start packing??! Maybe an irrelevant side note, but we have started the income of 65k/mo a few months ago because we were thinking of switching over to that next year. any help much appreciated!
  11. Thanks for the insight. We could just get them renewed in prachuap khiri khan, but we were hoping to have our new address in Phuket on it. Maybe no big deal though. Sounds like it’s much easier to do it somewhere else. Thanks again.
  12. I am reading now that it’s no longer necessary to book ahead. How busy/difficult is it these days at DLT there?
  13. Since much has changed in Phuket over the last few years, I wanted some updated information if anyone has it please. I need to renew my Thai license (from a 5 year) but will be moving to Phuket from another province in the next few months. I have looked into the DLT Smart Queue App, and it seems there are no appointments available until October. Does anyone know if this accurate and is the only way to renew? By then my license will be expired several months, but maybe that doesn't matter much. Also, do we need to complete the video and get a certificate beforehand? And need a health certificate and residency certificate as well? Thanks so much in advance.
  14. I noticed these files aren’t available anymore through the links. Does anyone have a fillable tm7 form please? Nevermind! When I tapped on the link, it appeared broken. But when I long pressed on it and downloaded it, it worked (using iPad) thanks!
  15. Thanks everyone for the comments. As I have bought and sold gold only, I am aware that it’s a nice investment if you have the time. But I’m wondering more about the investment of jewelry, such as rings, etc. If anyone can shed some light more specifically to that, I would appreciate it.
  16. And besides that fee, can you expect to get the same amount back? Or does it go up in value along with gold values?
  17. I have bought and sold 1 baht bars from aurora. But I’m curious about jewelry like rings or necklaces. Are there extra fees that would make this a bad idea for investment? Or do you not get near the cost back that you bought it for? How do you know what you can sell it back for before you buy? Any suggestions are welcome.
  18. So an interesting update. I talked to chase bank today, and they said that they are indeed on the newer security system, 3DS 2.0. Remember that Lazada claimed that if the banks updated to that system, then my credit card wouldn’t work with it. But Lazada got my card working with it! So this is all completely in Lazadas control. They are apparently accepting and not accepting whoever they want. Im currently trying to get Lazada to accept another chase card of mine. There’s no reason they shouldn’t, seeing that they just got my other chase card approved and working.
  19. My credit card is from chase bank. Interesting. So it shouldn’t have ever stopped taking the credit card in the first place if it’s not 3DS 2.0 right? And how about Capital One? Does anyone know if they are 3DS 1 or 2.0?
  20. I just wanted to throw my recent experience in with Lazada. My US credit cards had been working fine for years, but about 2 weeks ago, Lazada completely stopped taking them. I called customer service, and she seemed to know exactly what it was, (talked about already on this thread), and sent me this email: “Regarding payment issue we would like to inform you that the payment is might failing due to 3DS enrollment of the card. Please contact your bank to confirm with the card issuer if the card is enrolled to 3DS. If the card issuer confirmed that the card is enrolled to 3DS, if the bank have upgraded to 3DS 2.0. If the card issuer does not support 3DS 1.0 anymore, the card connot be used to make a purchase in Lazada. Please kindly use a different card or another payment method. If your card still support 3Ds 1.0, may we require additional document as detailed below, 1) The first 6 digits of your credit card number 2) The last 4 digits of your credit card number 3) The screenshot of the page showing that you are unable to pay 4) Picture of Passport (Credit card owner) or Thai ID card if you are Thai nationality (Credit card owner) 5) Picture of credit card (back & forth) You can hide all information except fisrt 6, last 4 digits and bank name 6) 1-month statement (showing the transaction of your credit card) Due to security purposes and data security concerns, Lazada will not access your bank details or directly contact your bank on your behalf. We assure that you information will only access by the relevant team. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. “ So I have been planning to call my credit card companies about it, but just for kicks, I decided to just send Lazada the verification they wanted, assuming my bank still accepted the “old” 3DS 1.0, if any of that is even true. Lazada got back to me in a couple of days, said everything is verified and I can use the card again. I signed out and back in, added the card, and what do you know, it worked! Now I’m curious what my bank will say about all of this, and if I have to keep doing this every time I use a new card. I’m just happy it worked. ????????
  21. We have non immigrant O visas, just renewed for 1 year. Planning a trip and will be back in Thailand with 8 months left on current visa extension. With the current requirements for entry into Thailand, will we need the $50,000 health coverage for the entire 8 months? Side point, but also a bit frustrating, is that we have health coverage here in Thailand that specifically states that it covers Covid 19, yet it only about $25,000 in total coverage, so apparently cannot use that for entry. thanks in advance.
  22. Thanks! Does anyone know about if our son needs a visa? (See OP)
  23. I apologize if this has recently been covered, but I didn’t find it. I have a list general requirements that is use each year, but wondering if anything as been added recently. For example, is medical insurance required? It used to be it was only for non imm OA, but with Covid I’ve heard it’s now a requirement even if you’re renewing within the country? Also, my wife and son are on a non imm O (dependent) visa. Does they both also need insurance? My wife and I have it but my son is not covered on it. Which brings up another question, does my son (age 7) technically even need a visa? thanks in advance.
