the  Police order mandates insurance coverage for the issuance of the O-A and it must only come from  selected Thai Companies- very few of thee Visas will be issued because there will be no demand.  At the very least-  the fair thing would be to grandfather anyone currently on an O-a and apply it to only new applicants/

    one can live and hope

  2. wimpy, your post will open up a can of worms, sometimes it's better to not say anything until it becomes official.Logic says it will come in at some stage and create so many problems for many people who have lived here a long time and maybe too old to get cover.I did check gold cross for cover for age group 65-70 and the cover(only up to 300,000 baht inpatient) was approx. 100,000 baht per annum.I dont know about anybody else, but do you want to fork out that kind of money for the privilege of staying here?

  3. I keep the gate locked......a precaution only,no stray dogs or people can come in....once inside the property not always easy to get rid of.

As for police or immigration officers, yes pays to be polite and courteous after seeing ID.

  4. looking for prostitution in pattaya is like looking and finding termites in your house that's falling apart.

I walked down walking street, soi 6, LK metro i couldn n't find prostitution anywhere until i came to that damn bar where the owner had n't paid me his monthly tea money, and suddenly lo and behold i found prostitution.

Only in thailand where prostitution is illegal, yet staring you in face in the villages, small towns...a non taxable income!

  5. Bank branches can be like immigration branches, they can differ with rule interpretation all the time.Sometimes it's because the bank employee you are dealing with does n't know the rules and rather than lose face gives you an answer that's though to be correct.

What to do?...just try another branch or another bank.

All the documents you had should have been enough.

I moved up to Isaan from Samui a few years ago, opened up a new bank account, also with bangkok bank.Returned to Samui to pack up all my goods, went to my local bangkok bank at Samui town centre with my passport and new bank book from Isaan branch and had no problem transferring a large amount to my new account...the commission charged though was very steep.I also kept my Samui account open.

  7. Hi all,

I need some help, have steering/front break problems.Have been to the local dealer many times to fix problems but they seem incapable of fixing anything, other than ordering replacement parts and i am starting to tear my hair out in frustration.

I did try the local dunlop tyre place, and while they tried their best i dont think they're real mechanics, just good at tyre, rim replacements, balance and alignment.

i need an experienced mechanic who knows what he's doing.

So if anyone can recommend where i might go/try i  would be very grateful.

thanks to anyone who can help,Thassos.
