Is It Better to be 17 or 70....in 2023?
thasoss replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
My answer is 70.At this point a person who is 70 in 2023 has experienced the best of what society had to offer From where I sit the future in this life has a lot less to offer, which would be dispiriting for a 17 year old. -
You really are painful

I hope the OP see's your reply because that is exactly how this thai culture works, not only towards foriegners but that men too. -
Last in Cambodia 2011 and it was fantastic but now I would guess not so good anymore, possibly because of the Chinese.Really disliked Sihanoukvile

I live in a large village, everyone it seems has omicron here.2 weeks ago I put on a party and later on the ladies decided to join a street party, banging of gongs, temple money tree etc.5 days later they came down with symptoms, including my lady. And 5 days after, I started showing same symptoms....fever,cough,sore throat and general fatigue.I took anti biotics for the sore throat which worked out ok.paracetamol fixed the fever after 24 hours....now just left with a cough.

try LMG....totally useless policy but cheap if all your looking for is to comply with O-A visa regulations.

with regards to my quoting 11000 baht a square metre was only meant as a guideline.Obviously the cost will depend on the products you are happy to use plus the labour costs. For example we wanted a ceepac roof(tiles) that are much more expensive than sunthai.Having said that your house looks good...well done.
-
good luck with your project. You really should be on sight, buy and choose everything yourself.Get as many quotes before deciding on a builder.......as a yardstick if you want a decent job done allow costs to be approx.11000 baht a square metre.Insulate the roof, put in a 1500 litre water tank,so if and when the govt. water is turned off you'll always have water. If the land size is more than 1 naan put in a deep well......cost between 15000-20,000 baht. You cannot rely on relatives to protect you from a builder doing a lousy job....you should not build if you are not in thailand to oversee the project in my opinion.

the authorities should try the "old normal"..........places would be filling up more quickly. But you know 'thailand pass".......vax certificate, PCR test 72 hours before flight, health insurance including covid,1 NIGHT IN A HOTEL NOT OF YOUR CHOICE,ANOTHER PCR TEST,hardly makes life easy, only desperate people will come back these next 2 months. Having said that I'm sure Samui is just lovely this time of year.

all true, but is n't it also another way of keeping tabs on you.Go cashless totally and it's just another freedom taken away.Take it a step further and the authorities have the power to decide what you can and cannot buy.

As other's have said, because you and your lady are not married you do not have any legal responsibilities towards her. From the information you have given it sounds like there is no way back.So the way forward is "how to extricate yourself"....with the least amount of damage. You have said that you are the owner of the condo you live in and that does present a problem of "how to get her to leave peacefully" Could I suggest that if possible you suggest a break from each other would do you both good.Suggest a visit to her village and family would be a good cooling off period for you both and give her enough money for a weeks break. If that worked,it would give you time to change the locks, pack her stuff up and leave it with management, and find a place for yourself to rent....and change sim card. Doing this will give you some peace, and time to think things through. 10 years together is a long time, and (only my opinion) she would deserve some financial recompense for those years. It's a devil when thai ladies with farang partners get together and compare wealth and it can destroy relationships, but it happens all the time.Best way forward is to be resolute, lay down how you will play this out ....and give her some kind of pay out reasonable to both parties.

My marriage is kind of 'on the rocks', crumbling around me.
thasoss replied to charliechoc's topic in Marriage and Divorce
You"ve been sitting tight for 6 years. You seem emotionally stuck.Time to admit a few things, that it did n't work out, that it's not retrievable, and cut your losses to save yourself and your own sanity.Happiness for you can be just around the corner, once you admit what you already know.Life is too short to stay in an unhappy environment....your child and his mother will survive just fine.
