where is Nernsamlee intersection, Sukhumvit Road, Rayong?. is this the big road junction after the department of transport offices as this is the only place I think it could be?.

They are building a new intersection not far from the statue of the lady with the big boobies wich they covered with a scarf, the boobies that is. This is just an artist's impression so it is not really there at all .????

Pattaya to Koh Chang. Take the Boonsiri High Speed Ferry, much faster and less hassle. They usually run ads on this site.

Does it actually run now? and does it take you to bang bau right down the south of the island or where does it dock on koh chang.

Thanks for the help folks. I've done plenty of driving and have my own car already so I'll go for the test on a quiet day sometime. I can also read Thai quite well too, or is the test all in English?

Is there a book to study from like the dvla book back home? Stopping distances and all that?

    Cheers again.

How will you know it's a quiet day ? as suggested use a school you WILL pass. I also have heard if you take the Govt test and fail twice ? then you can't take it again for months, not sure if that is so.

As written, there are driving schools which seem to be helpful.

    I don't know the details.

I can only speak for the one at chanthaburi. 20 hrs of tuition, their dual controlled cars and their computer test ( you keep trying until you pass), 2 consecutive days, test track has a roundabout and hill start, all relevant paperwork to study    ( they take you for the medical 115 bht ). return after a couple of days to complete the test, take you to collect your license at Transport office. charge 5500 baht. M/C 1000 Baht. very impressive company even took us to a nice motel nearby. 400 baht a night from memory.

Living here is cheap if you. have a job earning Thai Baht. Living here drawing money from your own countries currency is expensive. Eg in 2008 I was having 178Baht/£ The rate now at the moment 05/09 is 37.4, so now I'm paying twice as much in my countries currency  for the same item and items I buy have gone up negligible.

    178/Pound really ??

Normally I carry my DL with me but this time my wife took it out of my wallet to check the expiring date. OK, probably I was wrong and not read the article through. Officer writing my name on his doc told me to show the picture again so he could read/write my name. Apparently for the fine, the picture of the DL was good enough.

Make her pay the fine and or deduct it from her allowance. But double the fine as she is Thai i presume. :cheesy:

  7. Remove that white (normally) rubber grommet you can see, and inside is a small screw. turning the screw will move the rollers up or down. you can normally just do the ones on the bottom, and lift the window out. there is one at each corner.

I've been married to a Thai for nearly 30 years, have lived in Thailand for about 25 years, and still have to leave every 90 days or jump through hoops and have to have more money lodged in a bank than any Thai is required to do. I think by now they ought to know mine isn't a fake marriage and nor am I a criminal and/or a threat to national security.

So in 25 yrs you still cant put 400,000 b in a thai bank for 2 months. :violin:spend a few days jumping through hoops once a year, once done and you understand the process, then you won't have to do border runs, saving you time and money. A no brainer.

One of thousands of examples of marriage scams for immigration. They don't know you're still with the wife year on year, hell divorce and separation are as common here as the west. How do they know you're still together? How do they know you're not separated but just using the institution to stay in the country (which has happened I'm sure). And as far as them knowing whether you are a criminal or not - how would they know? I never went through a comprehensive criminal background check prior to coming here, did you?

Hell, in Canada they'll refuse you entry if they discover a dui on your record if you're crossing by land. Probably eliminate 25% percent of the expats here lol

You have to a doc. from your local office to prove you are still married, every year ,before you apply for visa.

However, the firm that helps me with visa extensions now wants copies of outdated 90 day reports.  For example, the firm wants to show Immigration a 90 day report from July that would have been good through October. Yet I have a new TM6 from an overseas this month which is now the most up to date document.

You mean your AGENT. helps you (?) don't you mean they charge you a fat fee, and your bank acc is at the nearest bank to immigration. just a wild guess.

I have never heard of anything so stupid. The form I fill out for my 90 day report have all been retained by the immigration officer. By the way why do they make us fill form out for a 90 day report. There have been times when the Immigration officer has thrown it in the bin and not needed it which translates to me that they enjoy making life as complicated as possible. When your passport number and name are entered on their computer it automatically prints the same or similar form with a perforation at the bottom of it  which automatically gives a date for your next report.. Filling all these forms out is like Immigration is 20 years behind the rest of the world for something we shouldn't not have to do anyway!!!! So there is no mistake working out when 90 days is as sometimes Immigration used to get my next 90 day date wrong!!!

For me it depends what I O does it 1. just sign the form ( i think he can't work the computer ) 2. do nothing and new date stapled in. 3. fill out the complete form. Once i genuinely got one to come back on 30 feb ! no BS.
