They were Chinese undercover, secret agents. Their mission: find out how Thailand has kept out the virus.
Only to find out that this Government is as honest as their own.

Two absolutely moronic responses. Just ask yourself, what is best protection? Wearing a mask? No wearing a mask? Nobody have ever said it´s a guaranteed protection. The only thing that guarantees protection is a vaccine, but we don´t have that yet.
So, guys! Please let common sense prevail and understand how incredibly stupid your posts were. You are 100% correct yet I see that many post have little to do with people having commonsense.

Normal facemasks dont protect against the virus, they protect against dust or saliva and so but not against the virus. Just foolish and stupid to think your protected against the virus if you use those masks. Only ones happy if people use them is the producers of the masks and those who sell them.
In a small way they do but under times like this even going back 2 months commonsense would have told an intelligent person to be aware and keep a distance from any potential virus carrier.

Will be hundreds if not thousands by next month.
Went to Makro shopping today, been a while as we would just go to the local Tesco for our basic stuff, but decided now with the school holidays to stock up.
Was frightening to see so many people wearing masks, temperature tests as you walked in, 36.4 so was good to go, I would say at least 70% had on masks, including all the staff, one customer was half wearing his black mask as if it were an accessory hanging off of his ear, then he coughs a few times. I had two of our kids with us, and stayed away from people and as soon as the wife was done shopping, I sent her and the kids to the car to wait while I lined up and paid for the bill, all this time watching and listening to the check out girl coughing, Jesus did that make me feel uncomfortable, not the Thai's though.
Anyways, the trip down south is off, we are staying put as I expect this to get worse, before it gets better because of certain factors out of all of our control, and yes I have become paranoid of late.
The wife and I went to Makro Tuesday no temperature taken but it was needed at the Big C.

waiting for the usual army of deniers and apologists to tell me, how great this is for tourism...
A proven scientific fact in 2018 is that magnetic north has moved the axis of the earth which means some countrie move closer to the sun as in Australia.

Now they have found another reason than the high value of the Thai baht which has been affecting Thailand's exports over the last couple of years.

Surely there are quaified medical personel who are well versed in infection control, who understand the science, and are better able to take control of this health matter, rather than former army person?
I was under the impression that good leaders delegate to best qualified person and receive updates and briefings.
Yes there are qualified medical personally for the coronavirus but not here in Thailand.

Maybe some here will start to understand why they feel they are not welcomed.

Just curious; do the Aussie's have Smoke-jumpers?
No, Not sure where you hail from, the East Coast of Australia is 3000km made up of rainforest and National Parks that stretch 200km inland. there are cities and towns cut into these forests the problem is that Australia has been in a drought for the last 5 years and the build-up of dead vegetation that has not been cleared by legislation brought by the Labor and Greens Parties in 2005. Thi9s fire is only a small part of the millions of hectares that has be burning since August 2019.
