  1. Living the 'Dream' ????????????

Only country in the world that bans alcohol and as Richard Barrow reports that this will be confirmed to last until end of May and NO 2 day relaxing of the rule to buy your supplies.

    OMG. How will people cope!!!

I normally spend 8 months a year in Thailand and was due to return 2 weeks ago.

    I wont be returning.

When the International flights are allowed to return, how many of the expats that think they are still 'living the dream' get on a flight back to where they come from?

Lets face it Thailand is not living the dream. Maybe was 25 years ago.

I have spent many many happy times in Thailand...living in Bkk with my ex a fillipino, visiting beaches and easy to take cheap flights to other Asian countries, enjoying great food, the hustle and bustle of Bkk. I was never interested in going for a happy ending massage, never interested in 'dating' a thai bird...whom would want you to pay her xx,xxx bht a month even when you was not in thailand whilst she 'dated another.

I work 4 months a year at home and now have decided that I will spend my 8 months rest time in a better country (once as flights and borders open up again) with just as nice weather, cheaper to live and where the countries Govt welcomes you with open arms.

Btw i have been a 'member' of this TV forum site for 3 years and love to read and sometimes contribute to conversations. Makes me smile and laugh at times with so many moaning. Dont moan...do something about it. ????????????

Yep! Sure. They just spill their guts out to a perfect stranger. At least you make me laugh. ????????????????????

After that your advice is not suitable for me as I live a what people call a normal life. You know, the boring one with one woman and two children. Even if I didn´t, I would not sink as low to need a dating app for be able to talk to a woman.

Just out of interest. How did you meet your Thai wife?

Fair Warning!!! If I see any Chinese tour buses anytime soon in Pattaya, I will be calling a good friend of mine who works in US State Department back home in WAshington, DC. And I will let him, and the rest of the world know just how corrupt, incompetent and money hungry the Thai Government really is!  #Americafirst2020  #Chinapurge2020

    Why are you living there???

    Dont like it...go home!!!

not everybody is keen on a 24-hour curfew, because even though “the skies are bluer and the pungent smell of carbon monoxide has gone”, says Daisy, she’s hoping “life won’t come to a standstill”.

Oh dear, I hope Daisy does not lecture at university in a science subject. Even if it is "business studies" or something similar, I would have hoped that anyone who graduated from high school would have been taught that CO is colourless and odourless. ????

Didn't read about a lot of "pleasure" being generated by the lockdown.......????

Well she is a fillipino ????????????????????

I thought both ends were in Greater Bangkok, I drive it every morning and evening.

I expect the office to go to "essential staff only" over the weekend but for now it's business as usual (with masks, social distancing and hand sanitiser). Will I need a letter or something as "essential staff"?

Sod it, if I get grief from the authorities I will just return home and "work from home".

Why dont you just work from home anyway??

    Save lives and stay home.

  7. Oh dear oh dear!!

Seems alot of you 'long term tourists' think its just the Thais going out and about.

My friends in Bkk tell me tourists are still going to ekkermal and getting on the bus to go Pattaya to party and go to the beach.

    Now stop it!!

Everyone should be in lockdown Thais and Farangs.

Last word from me on this....you older 'long term tourists' that have lived in Thailand for many years and make comments on here about how Thais are racist against you....well after reading posts over the last 3 odd years most of you are racist living in a country that opened its arms and embraced you.

Live by the rules set or make your way back to where you once come from.

It's exaggerated but there is truth in it. Most family's have members that are doctors and nurses and they will tell the others what they see.

For example in Phuket it has been covered up for atleast 1 month. There's was a huge increase in Phenomia cases at Vachira and all employees working with the cases knew that it wasn't the regular thing but still first official covid19 case in Phuket wasn't reported until last week.

    Not true.

At first they said cold countries would see the Virus spread.

Now you will know people go on holiday from cold to hot places and they are bringing the virus with them and you will note how many are being infected.

    Look at the stats.

  9. Bit stupid of him not to check before he got on the flight from Bkk to Sri Lanka that SL closed the border already for 'tourist'.

Why did he travel? Does he not understand what is going on in the world???

As for being held in detention centre back in Bkk, correct...as i hear they have stopped VOA now so he would not be entitled to a new visa.

Tough on him but rules are rules.

They are all staying in private villas. Much cheaper and more flexible.

AirBnb has a lot to answer for. It is killing the hotel industry

Hotels need to rent rooms at a good rate for 1 month...why on earth would you come to Thailand and pays daily rates at hotels when if your planning to visit lots of places outside say Bkk for just 3 days at a time...need to leave luggage somewhere....people now rent a condo for a month and go away come back when they need to.

They'd be too expensive (fortunately!). Think Filipinos instead. "Native" speakers.

Ha ha ha employ fillipinos to teach English....so funny.

Honestly fillipinos might speak some English they have learnt from American soaps....but believe me the spelling and the grammer is so bad...the thai kids be better off not learning English.

I can understand why they are now wanting to employ native speakers....ie UK and Aussies...because the teaching in most of the schools is so bad...because fillipinos are cheap to employ.

What they should do is kick out all the fillpino teachers (they have no proper qualifications) send them back to Manila or wherever

I speak only a few Thai words but I agree with the sign.

Only because I have witnessed too many Falang get upset or even yell at staff at various places because they cannot understand English.  Calling them stupid and the such.

It can be frustrating but not really their fault. Blame the government for not making them learn English in school.

If you want good English interaction with mostly polite people, go to the Philippines 90% there speak.

Ha ha ha Really....your advising people to go to the Phillippines because they speak 90% English....ha ha most fillipinos are stupid and give wrong answer to anything you say to them..

BP reporting that the Phillipines Embassy has been consulted with a view to bringing in more Filipino English speakers as teachers.

The problem with Fillipino teachers is their grammer is terrible.

I know many many Fillipino 'teachers' in Bangkok...all good friends of mine....but they have no qualifications to teach.

If the Thais really want to have children learn and speak English they must check that the said teacher has the correct(not fake) certificates of education.
