unless of course one is a drug smuggler,  Seriously though anybody who needs to be told this should not be allowed to travel internationally. However, if cannabis is to become a "prescription" drug I see no reason for it to be treated any different than any other prescription drug  IE  if one has a script from their home country for medical cannabis there really should not be a problem.  I wouldn't put it to the test though, not yet anyway

No, this way of thinking does not take into consideration that there's no universal standard. In your home country cannabis has been decriminalized, it's considered a medicine, wonderful. But in country X, cannabis is still stigmatized, it's seen as a harmful drug that destroys the youth, not only that they created an expensive way of catching and arresting the possible violators to this. You country's standard is NOT universal!

Back to mouldy brickweed and getting followed home from.reggae bars by plainclothes corrupt cops. Big step back for Thailand and citizens health & wealth.

Don't suppose my overseas dr prescription and pharmacy dispensed weed can be taken to Thailand when we nxt visit?

Please don't be this foolish, never ever take cannabis with you when entering Thailand.

I agree but when the government lies to us, as they always do, and they use obscure commodities like magnesium ore to skew the Consumer Price Index, it has no bearing on reality. When you're actually spending time there and going into the supermarkets and buying your normal staples, that's when you have a sense of where inflation really is, and it really is truly in the neighborhood of 20% right now.

I understand your point, the items that really matter to you had an increase much higher than the "official" inflation rate, that after all is just an average, I have noticed myself the incredible increase in USD of many items.

So did Shakey's Pizza last time I was in Manila for work. I would never consider retirement in the Philippines - even a holiday is a bit risky.

I don't feel safe in Manila, but in a Scuba diving trip, I was able to visit many different provinces in different islands. People can be very friendly in the provinces. Even on Luzon island, if you travel up north, places like Vigan, San Fernando La Union, it's a totaly different world from Manila.

That can be said about anywhere in the world, covid seemed like it was a generational opportunity for people to engage in price gouging, and prices continue to go up in price.  In the US I am fairly certain inflation continues to rage at about 20% annually, every time I go back things have gone up 10 to 15% in 6 months or less. So this is not exclusive to Thailand. I do notice that inflation here is less than it is in most other places, and though Thailand has gotten more expensive it's still very reasonable.

The official inflation in 2024 in the US was 2.9% based on the consumer price index.

I do absolute not approve the "tourists" behavior.

    BUT

Understand "overnumbered" by thais and also drunk.

Why didnt they just take them outside and prevent from reentering ??

The thais had to use the opportunity to "kick daylight" out of them as well.

    Scary....

And whats just as scary is all the approving comment from people on the web.

Ever heard of appropriate countermeasures ? 🙂

Everything in Thailand and Asia on general revolves around the concept of "face", you do whatever you like as long as face is kept, of everyone around. Once the concept of face is thrown out the window, anything can happen, even Thais ganging up in a fight against farangs.

It just further evidence to support my outlook and attitude towards Thailand.

Thailand is great, I love it, I have been coming here for 30+ years on long holidays and have lived in Phuket for 2.5 years now (3 months holiday in England at the moment).

But as we can never be resident here or fully retire here we should keep all of our major assets in our own country, and our money, only bring what we need here to live on.

My Thai partner owns the house we live in as she bought it from her tour business income, we balance out our expenses between us.

I keep a few thousand pounds in cash, and access to £50k instant money in case I ever need to "do a runner", we are after all temporary guests here on our temporary annual visa extensions, with no rights at all it seems when it comes to the crunch.

He was found not guilty during the first court case it seems, but on appeal they found him guilty despite all of the evidence in his favour, hence time to do a runner.

I see a lot of hatred towards him by many farangs is due to the fact he may have a lot of money and so the 'green eyed monsters' are out and about every chance they can get.

Good luck to him, I hope it turns out well for him in the long run.

If he, was found not guilty, the woman who claims that he kicked her is lying then. Is there any evidence that she was kicked? Any witnesses, any CCTV tape, anything?
