  1. So lets get it straight. A UK passport does not have retinal scan details. It merely has facial measurements which the Thai camera image compares and if they match, you're in.
  2. You can drop the 800k down to 400k after 3 months, and then top it back up 2 months before re-newal. Does this apply to you?
  3. Happy to tell you that, at 76, I still have a full head of the stuff. Apparently it is the bones shrinking and spine getting shorter as age progresses.
  4. That is why I qualified my statement with 'in UK' to convince some people that they cannot be on a UK ePassport.
  5. According to Mr Bing, a UK passport's chip contains all facial dimensions BUT NOT a retinal scan. How can it if you have never had it taken? There is a company called IRIS which can do the scan and I believe put it in the chip. No fingerprints on the chip.
  6. It's probably measuring other parameters of your face. My passport photo is without specs, but I do not have to take them off to go through eGates. The Thai system is comparing the gate camera with the photo which they have taken and keep on file. But even so, there is no way the resolution from their camera, or on my Passport photo can reveal that finer detail. They have facial recognition abilities in a lot of countries, but none taking iris scan into consideration.
  7. And on the subject of ID photos, I just re-newed my Thai driving licence, and the photo which they took is 50% of the shirt I was wearing. I asked the girl why, and she said those were the rules she had been given. Same on my Pink ID card.
  8. There is no way that the resolution on a passport size photo can be used as a retina scan subject.
  9. I never realised that 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' was here.
  10. I was answering the member who suggested a trip to Africa. Read it again. And it would be a 7000 mile trip for me to get to San Diego, so no thanks, I'll go to the North Pole to see the penguins instead.
  11. Correct, mine certainly doesn't (UK 2018) And it would only be any use if the country you are entering can access the database of your country. That's why Thailand, and other countries, have their own system.
  12. Like height, hair colour/style, facial hair, coloured contact lenses, scars etc etc.
  13. As I have said previously, I have NEVER had my dabs taken in UK.
  14. Those details are not BIOmetric, which means physical details of your body.
  15. Did I not say that. They store DATA not memory. But I would like to know what data they store.
  16. What is in the chip though. I have never had my dabs taken (well not in UK) or retina scan. I have decreased in height by 3cm in the past few years, and my hair is not the same.
  17. And if I want to see penguins or polar bears???
  18. Windows has improved a lot in the last 20 years. Windows 11 isn't MS-DOS. I, and many many others, do not need to update any hardware after upgrades, the last of which was 10 to 11 two years ago. Defender takes care of any viruses and malwares, does Linux never get those? Windows does not UPGRADE monthly, it may UPDATE as does almost every software program, and it can be set to do the update when you are not using your machine. I like Windows, have tried Linux but cannot get on with it.
  19. The latest Attenbourgh series is phenomenal in 4K.
  20. Allegedly. And only in third World countries.
  21. Already un-installed it. Going back to Edge, with Brave as a secondary choice, as if I ever needed one. Edge works perfectly for me.
  22. I just installed Opera and shall give it a go. My Edge bookmarks were all imported automatically.
  23. As is Edge!
