Interesting. First time I've heard of such. Possible to elaborate the circumstances?

The joke is...he was shagging an ugly woman in an alleyway. The police caught him, took one look at the woman and arrested him for having an offensive person on his weapon...boom boom ????

Yes you can. It is a standard procedure if you do not travel out of the country for a year.

A member stayed for almost 5 years on his without leaving the country. He applied for a extension every year.

Ah I see, I'm halfway through a 5 year visa but have never stayed longer than 6 weeks at one time. So just for clarity, when the time is up on the Elite visa it's time to get a new one or find a different way to stay in the country?

Starts on 8th June as far as I know . Which is why I’m getting on a plane to uk that arrives at 8pm on the 7th June . ????

There is a long list of exemptions to the 14 day UK quarantine rule. Might be worth a look if anyone is planning coming here. Easily found online.

Similar to my repatriation flight with Emirates.

    1)    Had to wear FaceMask and Gloves (as soon as I was on the plane I took off the gloves and just used hand sanitizer regularly)

    2)    There was no online check-in, but surely this would speed things up at Check-in?

    3)    Arrive 4 hours early? <deleted>? That’s insane, I only ever arrived 1hr 30mins early for my 6 hr flights !

    4)    No hand-luggage – I think they may mean, lap-top bags and handbags only (no one is going to be putting their lap tops, iPads etc in checked in baggage)

    5)    Thermal Screening and Covid-19 tests – that’s fine, excellent in fact.

    6)    Maintain Social Distancing: Impossible unless flights are only flying at 25% capacity (or less) which means they are unprofitable.

I think in future we will just see things go back to normal with the FaceMask requirement and pre-flight Thermal Scanning and possibly Covid-19 checks. Anything more than this is untenable.

Repatriation? When was this? Are you Thai or have citizenship?

The early bird gets the worm. Whoever opens first will get the most initial tourists as there are HEALTHY people just dying to take a vacation all over the world. The only real constraints are the ability to travel TO the country and BACK from it - but surely transit travel restrictions will be eased in many countries by June.

My guess is towards June some countries will start opening, and by mid-June at the latest Thailand will join them, at least partially (requiring health certificates etc).

The UK is only this week "thinking" of imposing quarantine rules on the thousands arriving everyday. A truly <deleted> mess of a country. Far behind in many ways.

Jomtien takes some beating, easy for immigration, plenty restaurants and bars when they are open, no police presence whatsoever, markets, mini lotus etc yet only a few minutes from Makro and Thepperasit. Baht buses everywhere so Pattaya easily accessible. Seen some real bargains lately on FB etc. There was a VT5 large seaview studio for 9k a month..I think 53sqm available.

This all day long. I live in Jomtien and don't plan on leaving

  8. Yes of course rents go down. Loads of cheaper rents in Jomtien just now than a few years ago. I'm paying 1,000 baht less per month just now than I did last year in the same condo, as the landlord knows I'm a good tennant and will provide a regular income. You only have to ask.

We can criticize the gov't and even some locals for some of the cultural differences.   But this seems to be a genuine, good-hearted gesture.

Now let's see how long it takes for TV to devolve into a bashing session 555.

Not long at all eh? Doubt there's a topic possible that won't attract a response from the negative Thailand haters. Makes you wonder why they're even members.

According to one post -- "No big deal. According to TVF experts, no one wants to come to Thailand anymore anyway. The government should just impose a total ban like many other countries. "

What if you are happily married to a Thai woman or have other ties to this country.  I do not understand the forum members who are always negative on Thailand.  I was lucky to get into Thailand from the USA yesterday without the certificate or testing.  I will stay put for 14 days although I am not sick.  Why do not people understand that this can become very serious.  We need to come together at this point in time.

This is a good site for information but the comments can be draining. TV has it's fair share of utter tools. Use the ignore function and it becomes a much better place.

  12. I work offshore UK and the oil companies are forcing me to spend two weeks in the UK before mobilisation. Effectively stopping me going home as I'm on a 3/3 rota so I'd be home for around 5 days. This despite the Government withdrawing the advice re category 1 and 2 countries. So unless these <deleted> change the rules I'm trapped in the UK until this is over.
