  1. We installed a Garmin GDR E560 dash cam (front only) on our Hilux 3 years ago. It has been flawless till now. I bought a 3m extension cable which is easy to hide all the way to the camera. Connected in the center console = cable cannot be seen at all.

I am considering the Garmin Dash Cam Mini for our new car. App 9k thb on Lazada for front and rear. It looks easy to set up via you mobile phone and the camera is ultra small. And I will most likely do similar again, with a USB splitter under the passenger seat and run an extension cable to each camera - easy to push under door/ceiling/window connections.

  2. Not sure if I am allowed to share link to a company homepage?

I can recommend Qcars Pattaya, they have many pick ups and online price states 1000-2200 thb for daily rental.

And an honest owner/company from my experience.

I am a bit lost as to who wants to buy what here.

If someone is considering a new E350e or 300e Maybe look for an S less than three years old.

You can purchase extended manufactures warranty if the vehicle is less than three years old. The extension can be up to eight years. MB bits are ‘kin expensive.

You will find the ride much smoother and much quieter.

There is no real answer to that. OP highlighted that good deals can be made at BMW/MB and he ended up buying a C43.

I made the same choice and I do agree with you all that it is by no means a "steal" with the car prices in Thailand. But If I compare the C43 with an BMW M4, I got mine at less than half price. Though the M4 is a different animal, they are almost in the same class.

I consider the C43 a good deal since it came with full options compared to C300e @ 3 mio THB. + equipment for a 4 cyl hybrid.

Also possibly one of the last purebred 6 cyl gasoline engines on the market. The future spells hybrid with 3 or 4 cyl motors.

Point is that this is NOT good deal. That's 95000 euro against the 53000 euro real base price. Put some optionals can be 65000. That's 30000 difference.

Glad that you like the adaptive led lights, that's a feature you can put also on a Fiat 500 or on a Toyota, don't need to buy a C43 ????

The S Class had night vision display already 12 years ago, if you want to avoid accidents..

Point is that OP wanted to share what he believe is a good offer. I agree with him that the offer is great compared to original price for a nearly full spec'd C43 in Thailand or something with 6 cyl and similar performance.

This forum is still about sharing right?

    Like it - read it.

Don't like it - dont read it or read it and bash it.

Different opinions are normal and everyone's right.

    Have a great weekend all.

You know nothing of me, my wife, or my circumstances. Sure I am clearly not as wealthy as you appear to be, as you clearly try to let us all know, but I could afford a whole army division of BMWs if I wished to waste my money on idiotic status symbols, so that the Thais get jealous and the  cops don't pull me over as much, which is rubbish as well. I'm not defined by my car, nor do I have a need to flaunt my 'western wealth' in front of Thais to make me feel superior.

This post was not about wealth or bragging. OP was simply highlighting the discounts there is from German car manufacturers right now.

I think that is what this forum is about? Sharing, caring and helping each other.

Only one bragging is actually you. A full army division typically consists of 10.000-25.000 soldiers = I guess you can afford 5.000-10.000 BMWs, good on you!

I had been looking for a semi performance car the last 3 years and when they offered the C43 sedan at 3.69 mio thb in Dec. I decided to go for it.

I am also Danish and when I compared the C43 with nearly full option against the cost in Denmark it would be 1.5 mio thb more in Denmark than the deal I got in Thailand.

So for OP and me it feels like a relatively good deal. This thread was originally only about discounts and good deals.

Last note, I especially enjoy the MultiLED headlights, the road is very lid up at night and it automatically creates shadows for any other traffic. Very nice tool against the motorbikes without rear light driving slowly in the middle of a dark road. I would be very sad if I ever crashed into one of these "ghost riders". The LED lights have improved my chances to avoid these accidents by many %.

400 baht expensive for renting a motorbike? Heck 15 years ago you paid 300 anywhere on mainland for a day to day rental, and 2500 for a mont for a decent newer bike.

Btw where you park your car or motorbike on mainland if heading down to Koh Kood?

We usually pay 250thb per day for a motorbike on Koh Mak.

Lelawadee speedboat company offers roofed car parking at 50thb per night. (Laem Ngop pier)

I just booked a 2020 Toyota Rocco, I want to be able to sell it in a few years , and I know , Toyo and Honda get good resale value

I bought a Hilux Rocco 3 years ago. Not a single problem on the first 60k km. The car still looks as new.

When I bought it I was working in NE Thailand and putting 5000-6000 km on the car every month for the first 5 months. I was never hazzled by the rear suspension on the longer trips. Maybe if I go 40-60 kmh on a bumpy gravel road, I can get the feeling of bad/jumpy rear suspension.

I bought the pick up as a work-horse and knew that the suspension would never be like a luxury car.

It is all about personal preferences. I think most of the pick up trucks on the market will offer similar reliability.

  8. I can warmly recommend Cinnamon Art Resort and Spa on Koh Mak.

If you want: A quiet vacation, amazing snorkeling, very large pool, private pool at bungalow, beach front/sea view, 500m pier, great Thai food, great fishing and a nice safe island to explore on motorbikes. My experience is it rains less on Koh Mak compared to Koh Chang and Koh Kood.

The Pool Hut villas are on promotion at 4900 thb per night.

Maybe ask your wife to call the hotel of choice and ask them if the government support of buy 1 get 2 days deal can be made?

  9. Soi dogs is a big problem in Thailand, but how should the government deal with them and lower the numbers?

Rat poisoning is a horrible death for a dog, nobody deserves to end their lives in 60 mins of cramps while inner organs are shutting down.

One of our dogs died July 2019 in Phala, Ban Chang. Unfortunately she had 9 puppies 4 weeks old who also died 1-2 days later, poisoned by the milk.

Mother dog died in my arms after nearly 1 hour of cramps, throwing up, biting her tongue to pieces etc. It is a very horrible way to say goodbye to someone you love.

Vet clinic told us many dogs had died during this period, so they expected somebody had placed poisoned food to kill the soi dogs.

We have a nice big walled garden and keep the dogs inside at all times, but we also bring them to the beach and the poisoned food must have been at the beach, as the mother never left the puppies except for that 1 trip to the beach with me.

SDF should be allowed to put down aggressive, old or handicapped soi dogs / or regulate the numbers, but they should be offered a fee per dog and ensure the dogs sleeps its way into the next life.

  10. I came back from Koh Mak yesterday, after 2 weeks there.

The island is pretty deserted and not many tourists or guests, so it has actually been one of our best vacations there. (I go there to enjoy the silence and amazing nature/sea)

We always stay at Cinnamon resort, but I saw on FB that "By The Sea" offers 30-40% discount on rooms till 22.04.20.

There are not many guests/tourists, so I would guess people who wants to go Koh Chang, Koh Mak or Koh Kood can get a very good deal on hotel/resort bookings right now.

Cinnamon was discussing whether to close down for 1-2 months due to limited guests.

Only "dangerous" time for Covid19 spread is the 1 hour speedboat trip (either 30 or 60 people crammed together) and only app. 30% was wearing masks.

For 2-3 weeks or more, I think it is brilliant hideaway.

But if only for a couple of days, then I think people should stay at home.
