Thanks, all.
Lazada is usually my go to (though I'd like to support more local businesses), but won't be using them this time as I'm out of the country and will need to buy something the day of my return for a quick project.
I appreciate all the input!

Any thoughts on where to pick one up in Chiang Mai?
Looking primarily for Phillips head but also flat head screwdrivers.
Thanks!

Hey all,
I have a few questions about re-entry permits:
1. Can I get one if on a single-entry tourist visa?
2. How do I get one? When departing or when arriving at immigration in Thailand?
3. Anything I need to do in advance or is it okay just to show up?
4. Do I need to notify immigration that I'll be coming back when I get stamped out?
5. Is re-entry still 1000 baht?
I'm going off of the information at this link: https://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand/re-entry-permit-thailand.php
Thanks for your help!

everything is junk in Thailand. that is why you are searching searching searching. LAZADA is the answer.
try UGreen store.
Yeah, came to Lazada initially, but I needed one for this week and the quality cables (including the one you linked above) were all being shipped from abroad with lengthy delivery times.

Update: I looked at about (10) different shops all over town, including a handful of Power Buy's and no one had a USB-C to Displayport cable. A few places did have USB-C to HDMI cables.
Will continue the search.

Thanks, everyone.
I ended up picking up a three-piece desk at Perfect Furniture. Found something I liked there and so didn't make it to the other places that were recommended. I appreciate the help.
Desk will be delivered today!
P.S. Those "I'm the boss desks" crack me up....

Thanks for the input, everyone.
Ended up picking up a few bags of elegantly packed oolong from Rimping. I appreciate the help!

Got mine at Power Buy on the moat.
Awesome! Thanks for the lead.
How's the quality? I'm looking for something that'll do at least 60hz over 4k.

As usual don't give too large a deposit. Or they are just working for the remainder.
Sorry, can you clarify?

Thanks, all. These sound like good recommendations for coffee. But how about loose green tea? Something that's grown in the hills north of here?
-
Thanks. So it's the bottom floor of Central Festival mall?

Thanks. I'm going to take a look in town on Friday. I need it before I leave the country at the end of next week to test a monitor I'm having delivered, so will need to find something local.

Hey all,
I want to buy a few small gifts. I'm thinking some loose leaf green tea or a bag of coffee.
Anyone know where I can get some bags? Something local (or from Thailand) would be great.
Thanks for your help!

Hey all,
Anyone have a recommendation on where I can get a high-quality business card printed?
I have the pattern ready to go. Would I just need to bring it in on a portable USB drive?
Thanks for your help!

Hey all,
I'm in need of a USB-C to Displayport cable that will support 4k @60hz. I'll use this to connect my laptop to an external monitor.
Lazada has lots of options but all the good ones are shipped from abroad.
Anyone know where I can get one locally?
Thanks!

Thanks, Jack! Really appreciate your help. And can I return it to a local JIB shop even if I receive it via mail from a JIB located elsewhere?
-
Hey all,
Google translate usually helps in these instances, but being that this particular web-page is displayed as an an image with text rather than just text, Google translate can't work with it.
Does anyone know what the return policy for JIB is, or is someone able to read this page and tell me? I was hoping they had a 15 or 30 day return policy. Here is their official return policy page:

Thanks for your help!

Hey all,
I need to buy a new office desk and wonder where the best place to get one would be.
I've been to both Big C and Home Pro and wonder if there are other options.
One note: We live in Hang Dong and so would need delivery.
Thanks!

Hey all,
I have an LG G6 that recently kicked the bucket. Not sure what's wrong with it, but it will no longer turn on and may not be taking a charge. May be a battery issue.
Anyone know where I might be able to get it fixed?
Thanks,
Dave
Philippines peso to Thai baht - thoughts on bypassing the horrible exchange rate?
in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Posted · Edited by davidupatterson
Hey all,
My partner is from the Philippines (I'm from the US) and the exchange rate that she gets at banks/exchange counters in Chiang Mai are horrendous. On a transfer of about $600 USD, she loses about $80 to $90 in the exchange. She brings 30,000 Philippines pesos with her into Thailand when entering on a tourist visa.
We'd like to have those pesos in either THB in cash, or better yet, have the money moved to her Philippines bank account or my US bank account.
I appreciate your help.
