  1. Thanks all... Passed by True center at the mall, asked them to helped me sign up for True Money Wallet (to avoid issues with taking photos) used passport and Thai license - and all went fine. But, next day got SMS from True: "Thank you etc... Unfortunately, we are unable to approve your application. Please ensure that your supporting documents are correct and stil valid" (they are). So... I guess I'll try one more time, if not then I'll just give up and just use contactless credit card payments at 7-11 (that was the only big purpose of getting True Money Wallet anyway).
  2. Hi all, I didn't find any sub-forum for live music scene, so I'll put it here: We'll be visiting BKK (from Phuket) next month for Guns 'N' Roses show (well that's all what we got here in Asia, lol) at Thunderdome stadium (Nov/9 = Wednesday), and later that night we plan to check out some live metal / rock clubs in BKK... Google says "The Rock Pub" (near Ratchathewi station) is quite good... Any other local recommendations? We will stay in Sukhumvit 16, but we don't mind long taxi ride to find a good club... Thanks, Alex
  3. Sorry, was this e-Visa or physical (sticker) visa? I assumed it's e-Visa because I know they require copies of last 12 months of passport stamps. Embassy doesn't have this requirement, if I'm not mistaken? (for example, in case of a new blank passport, they will not require to see the old one?)
  4. Congratulations on your e-Visa approval... Did you show your latest stamp pages (with 2 overstays), or the old ones before them? Yeah flights are very expensive nowadays, if it's cheaper to go via SIN then better do that.
  5. I researched mid-priced condos in Naiharn, Kata and Karon last year: You can also check 'ReLife' condo, very near that one you asked about (Naiharn Beach Condo - NBC), but much better location right on the main road leading to Naiharn beach (I heard that NBC has some problem with main road access, or even doesn't have any, this is what few agents told me last year). More near to the beach is The Lago condo, it was a bit pricier than ReLife, but the pool had very bad green color (this was last year). Nearby were Calypso and Utopia condos, I didn't check those, which probably means they were expensive lol. Nearest (and in my opinion, the best) apartments near Naiharn beach was The Sands condo, it's just next to the beach, tropical style and quiet, but I didn't see any rental ads for it, only sales... I think it must be quite expensive, if can rent at all. Cheers, Alex
  6. Thanks for info, I was planning the same next year... Which airport you flew in? The embassy didn't ask to see your old passport? (for e-Visa they need copies of passport stamps of the last 12 months, but maybe they don't need this for physical visa / sticker)
  7. This is useful info for many, thanks... Did you use old passport or got the new one? Which airport you flew in?
  8. Plenty of choices, currently the most popular is 1 year ED extension (for <50y old), offered by hundreds of agents in partnership with north provinces I/O's ???? If they crack down on these, then some other scheme with other visa will start (volunteer, medical, etc...), and then another, and another... it's Thailand ????
  9. They accept all credit & debit cards here in Phuket 7-11's, I'm using my European and Asian Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay credit and debit cards, no surcharge, no minimum transaction amount. I remember in Family Marts (those few which survived Covid era) they didn't accept debit card or something, but not really sure it was long time ago, I can't remember last time I used Family Mart, in my area they all closed and never reopened, but all 7-11's reopened and having great business now.
  10. Long time ago I tried to set up that TrueMoney thingy, but they didn't accept passport only, of course... Now I have Thai driving license, and I'm wondering did anyone had success with that? (so it's only passport & Thai driving license - no yellow book or pink ID card)... No big deal if it doesn't work, I planned to use it in 7-11's only (every other place accepts PromptPay, except 7-11). Cheers, Alex
  11. OK time to update, past week I compared Dtac (30mbps 1year sim) VS. True (30mbps 10days pack). (True's 1y unlimited sim is actually 15mbps, but I don't have it so I had to use 30mbps 10days pack) - Tests were confusing and unreliable, on TestMy.Net: Dtac 5-20, True 15-175 mbps, on SpeedTest: Dtac 10-30, True 110-125 mbps... this was on my location (central Kata beach, Phuket). - Real life usage: both cards didn't buffer at all on Youtube 4k test video (2160p) or on any other service, and that's the only thing I care about... Files downloads were pretty fast on both as well. - Free calls mystery solved: both Dtac 30mbps and True 15mbps 1 year unlimited sims offer 60 minutes free calls to ALL networks, including land-lines (confirmed with 'Tree Mobile' salesman). - The only reason I choose to buy True (on 10.10. promo sales day) is my Bangkok Bank app which for some reason works painfully slow on Dtac, it takes 1-2 minutes for pin-code or fingerprint verification, while on True it's instant in seconds, this is well known problem (in my area at least). If I only had chance to try True's actual 15mbps sim... But they didn't had 15mbps pack on offer, so I had to test it with 30mbps pack... I guess (I hope) 15mbps 1y sim will work as fast as their 30mbps pack (I mean in real-life video & downloads, not those confusing tests). Cheers, Alex
  12. Lazada now has 30mbps for ~1600 (was ~1400 during 9.9 promo).
  13. Thanks... If Dtac "free calls" indeed include landlines, then it's an interesting option.... I don't really use phone calls, but I remember few times when I had to do some urgent ones (airline or hospital), and then had to bother with refill since my 1y sim had zero credit, OK now I stole my wife's Dtac 1y 30mbps sim for the weekend ('research purposes'), and I'll compare it to True prepaid old sim, and then I'll decide which 1-year sim to buy for myself. AIS doesn't offer 1 year unlimited sims (as far as I know), which is a pity as I think they have the best speeds in my particular location (Kata, Phuket), but as I remember True was very good as well. Today our Dtac '1y 30mbps' sim was showing anywhere from 5 to 20 mbps on tests. By the way, which "local" speed test do you recommend? (I don't see Thai servers in TestMy.net app... I saw them in SpeedTest but many here and elsewhere condemned that app so I guess it's not reliable)
  14. Since the other thread was closed due to some members quarreling (yep, on mobile data plans thread lol), I'll copy / paste my question which I typed just before the thread was closed: "Before this thread goes out of hand, let me ask if anybody actually used Dtac free "all networks" calls to a land-line numbers? If yes, then Dtac 30mbps (with 60min free 'all networks' calls) is better deal than True 15mbps (no calls) since it's the same price for 1 year unlimited... But also have to consider what is the actual difference in speed between Dtac 30mbps and True 15mbps, sometimes those are the numbers only, I remember people reported their True 15mbps was actually rocking at 50-60mbps... In our location (Kata beach, Phuket) my wife's Dtac 30mbps sim is actually pulling only 15-16mbps (on TestMy.net app)." Cheers and please keep this thread peaceful, thanks in advance. Alex
  15. Just bought for gf: Dtac sim 1 year unlimited data @ 30mbps + all networks calls 60min/month for ~1600thb (promotion ~1400thb expired. CheckedTrue unlimited but their fastest equivalent is 15mbps (although not sure which one is actually faster, True 15mbps or Dtac 30mpbs? ???? )
  16. No VPN, tried again on WiFi and 4G, failed on both (attached photo). Maybe sign-in works, but I'm trying to do 1st registration... Internet works fine (tried YouTube & Netflix 1080p no problem)... Gave up ????
  17. Installed this app just now to try it out... After all registration data filled in, it says "Cannot connect OR Time out"... Like everything else here, keep your expectations bottom low, then won't be too disappointed ???? Will try some other time again.
  18. Sorry to hear for your troubles. I had the same experience with Chiang Rai agent (I'm in Phuket). All was good at the start, but after several weeks of avoiding clear answers and deadlines, it became really stressful... After threatening to report my passport lost, they explained that they had trouble getting the docs from one school so they turned to the other one, and it takes time... At the end, I had to pay for few weeks overstay stamp, and will never use that agent again... Since then, I'm with good agent in my Phuket area, paying a bit more but sleeping well, lesson learned. Wish you good luck, try to push them to give you clear information and expected date (whenever it is).
  19. I searched this topic, but couldn't find anything... I was thinking to buy my friend's old scooter, but she has left Thailand and might not come back anytime soon, green book is here (I helped her to update this year's registration / insurance)... Is it possible to do green book ownership transfer, if owner is not present? I asked few people, they said yes, because 'anything is possible in Thailand'... ? ????
