Most of my friends kids are like described above.
Pretty sure my son is going in the same direction, I have to leave the house if I want to get anything done, else he prefers to be with me the entire time. Even he is just a year old soon.
Also what being said about the kid being called farang noi, luk khrung etc is really true, happens daily in our village and I could imagine that it eventually makes him feel and like to be the foreigner rather than Thai.Guess the only way this will not happen is if I get out of the picture. Many half Thais I know that are already 20s and 30s also all prefer to speak their fathers country language and English. Some still only speak 50% Thai.
I have also seen this with quite some International kids who are 100% Thai, they prefer speaking English, western culture, friends and food. Often move abroad later on if getting a chance.
Guess my answer to you is; be happy with it, better than staying ignorant Thai.
Not so much culture in that except for the basics.- 5

Generally a visa office or translation office would be able to get both the translation and MFA stamp to legalise done a bit faster for a premium. Not sure about Bangkok but do know they offer it in CM.

Pick up last week was between 16:00 and 17:00.
I would recommend keeping another day on reserve as people sometimes get delayed for additional paperwork, would save you a missed flight in potential. As well carry enough USD as they want to be paid in USD at embassy.

You must have a thai partner? Could you solve the problem with an invitation letter stating that you need a 90 day visa to set up the company, signed by the thai partner?
At least that was enough for me in my homecountry, signed by my other non-thai partner as a director. We did really work on the wording, and used an agent that the embassy is familiar with for the actual filing. Copy of company seal and the letter was all I needed to provide.
Also beware of the requirements for getting the final, 1 year work permit. The first month before applying should show a turnover of 200-300k baht, if under this they will now give out 6 month work permits, or even for the duration of an underlying 90 day visa...
You can not own a Thai company, only 49% of the shares in one. So without a Thai partner you are nowhere unless it is a BOI company.
For a WP you also need 4 Thai staff members unless you are married, then it is 2. -

So that means ZIP change.
Most consulates are having close look at repeat tourist visas. This has zero to do especially with Vietnam. Try getting more than one setv from Cambodia.
Re your comment about refusals DM has zip to do with Saigon consulate.
There is no change in necessary info required about flights etc. What questions leaving people head in hands????
Come on. Stop!
The refusal came from Saigon, they did a second attempt in Hanoi. That is how I came to know. The difference is that they used to still be flexible and OK in VN according to more recent reports and now also seem to tighten up fully and follow procedures 100% + 10% more by interviews.

Can you back up bit about "they required much more in Hanoi this week"
Exactly what has been added to previous requirements?
More extensive research into people their plans, flights and finance if it came to tourists. And putting people on hold for another day + ask a lot questions in general, some were asked more but couldn't hear what except that they walked away with their heads down and missus crying.
And then still getting refusals when returning to Thailand (Don Muang) afterwards with the just newly gotten tourist visa. Stuff like that basically.
I also asked those people if they read and write on this website, they said they didn't. So I guess it happens even more than we read about / is reported.
Concluding that it is playing Russian roulette if applying for more TR visa's than once a year in the region / country.
For the non-o single entry the only additional thing is the financial proof, so nothing too crazy in that case (at least for me). -
Easiest would be to apply for the tourist visa and extend with 30 days at immigration:
Application form, visa picture, flight booking out of Thailand, hotel reservation and bank statement in most cases today.
I would not recommend you to go to Phnom Penh (neither for a visa run or to get a visa). Laos or Vietnam is a better idea.
If you do not want to show financial proof, Savannaket in Laos is your last friend (for as long that lasts).- 1

They almost send us (baby too) away last time for arriving right after lunch break.
My argument was that we had to wait the last time until late afternoon anyway (so why come earlier), isn't exactly easy to keep a baby clean and breastfed in a immigration building with no airco etc etc. So eventually, they accepted to get us a number (and took ages again).
Trying to avoid going there more than once next year. -

All smells a bit fishy to me.
If you have the right documentation then you get your visa.
I thought the Thai consulate in HCMC were very good
Things used to be good, nowhere is safe now (only Savannaket left), they required much more in Hanoi this week too and still hassled some people.
There was a couple even going to miss their flight back as the embassy insisted on additional documentation or proof that they couldn't get with application window time.
Anyway to OP: Best to get a bank statement as that is more or less the new mandatory thing. The amount isn't that high compared to some countries anyway.
Not sure why you are so difficult about sharing this information, it isn't really a secret anyway neither can they do something with it. Or you don't have it..
If you want to be paranoid and more anonymous, open a separate bank account for visa purposes, not showing all your finances. -
It used to be harmless but nowadays it is quite a risk if you get caught. You are also likely to miss your already booked flight in that case.
I guess it was a few months back in the news that some were arrested on just a few days overstay at their hotel too.
Would only do it myself if staying at a friends place without TM30 report, else not worth the risk anymore. -

No wonder so many people gets pulled over if you give answers like that.
Learn what they want to hear and appears to be the nice golden little lamb they want you to be and you wont have any issues.
Have to agree with that 100% and I have also heard the weirdest answers with people in embassy / queues of immigration, that actually made them suspicious for real. Why would you over explain what you come to do here by describing sports etc etc instead of saying you are going to chill at the resorts.
Be lazy and spend money as a tourist does.- 2

Good on you to still have gotten in, I would not be happy to stay anymore after that.

Finance proof by bank statement and additional questions can be expected. As anywhere else, only safe place left is Savannakhet.
Exact requirements can't be clarified as it changes by the day. At least 20,000 baht by bank statement is common today.

Hanoi does ask for income proof, I printed a kasikorn statement of the past month showing over 100k in deposits and 59k balance.
Applied yesterday, it was a very quite and easy experience in terms of waiting. It looks like a post office rather than a cow farm with hundreds of people lining up.
Today I came back at 4PM and collected a new non o single entry by 5PM.
The refused German girl did get her transit Visa to collect her stuff, she will move to Vietnam after that.
Now enjoying a good bottle of wine and Vietnamese cuisine, grilled duck breast etc. to celebrate.
P.S. Vietnam has much more choice of food, world wide kitchen, for little money.
Compared to Thailand it's much less fast food and more real deal food, at cheap prices (BKK might offer the world but that is double to triple costs).

Add on: I never seen a embassy so quiet, there were less than 5 people in there at the same time and it looks like a post office setup.
So for that I have to give them credit, super relaxed and easy building.
However, I suspect that is only because most foreigners already gave up on Thailand.

This is the part I wish the Govt would understand. That a majority of us contribute a significant amount of money to the economy and to punish is for all the cheap Charlies is just "bad business".
I'm all for getting rid of those who are trying to stay here on a TV with no funds, but don't punish everyone else.
Well even worse, having a Thai child and family depending on me, and still get difficulties over a visa.
I have spend well over a million per year in my first 5 years alone. In past year and half supporting a Thai family as well plus a business investment for my wife.
I earn plenty for yearly requirement but my income cant be certified by embassy as it doesn't come from my home country.
Will have to legalise my 40k income somehow, even that is likely to be done mid next year, I am tired of Thailand already. They just ruined it.
Easy to talk backwards, if I knew this years ago, I reserved 400k over time to be stuck in a bank. But I was single back then.
Also, I use cashflow for biz, another 400k isn't nothing for a 28 years old.
O and btw, tourists everywhere here, cheap beers, friendly people. Traffic insane but other than that, amazing.
-
I was there just now, multiple tourists with problems, a German girl who returned as her visa was denied on entry too, they didn't help her and she needed to get a new one again as she wants to collect her belongings and leave forever.
I expect her to have lost over 15k baht on that so far too.
They hassled me too, bank statements and needing to pay 80 USD for a single entry non o, much more than elsewhere and nowhere to be able and change money.
Eventually, 1 hour later, the consular staff changed for me from THB.
Pick up is tomorrow, very late, 4PM.
I am personally really done with this nonsense but I have a Thai child. Going to really try and figure a way to move with my family to another country as soon that is possible.
Tired to be treated like a soi dog while spending plenty over the past 7 years.

Not Pattaya but Bangkok yesterday. Sitting in traffic 13:00 on Sukhumvit with Soi 22 on my left hand side.
I witnessed 2 police stop a tourist walking down the sidewalk to check his passport. finished with him, they turned around and stop 2 tourist on a scooter and frisked them down.
I not know if pattaya is the same but if I go on vacation to a country and they want to arbitrarily stop & frisk me, I will never return.
Thats not the vibe I want when I go on vacation.
Would be very unusual to happen in Pattaya but it is really normal for Thong lor police to do these days. The worst area imo (thong lor police area).
I would not want that vibe during a holiday or normal life, one of the reasons I left Bangkok 2 years ago (they once even tried to put drugs in my cigaret pack + stole 2k baht from my wallet during the search).- 2

I think they are just a bit 20th century.
I prefer to not have my photos in apps, data sold on, to later be blackmailed (I am in IT and know where that data goes, it doesn't ever go away).
That aside, I prefer a bar as there is less time wasted + no drama. I know what I get and how she really looks like, not some edited photo, pay up, and leave after.- 1

Just now, Kaoboi Bebobp said:Indeed. JCI-accredited Vinmec has built three state of the art hospitals in Nha Trang, Da Nang and HCMC. More to come.
Add the big investments coming from EU soon on top of all this and they will be leading SE Asia in a few years.

I am always confused when people say that. Pattaya is the cheapest, easiest for transport (10 baht bus), easiest for visa (20-30K and you are sorted for a year).
It is elsewhere, that things became too expensive. In PTY you can still get 50-60B beers, 110 baht spirits and 1000 baht girls. Also cheaper for foreign food.
You can't complain about those prices, even with today's exchange rates.- 1

Stop with that nonsense, you can simply fly to Thailand for getting some medical too.
And I guarantee you, within a few years, Vietnam will have as many good hospitals too. They are behind but developing 10x faster.- 3

Well just been there earlier this week and it was indeed much more quiet in many areas. I personally enjoyed it more, less crowd and easier to get to places, walk around.
Also noticed a lot of good offers in terms of food and drinks, get rid of the poor preforming places and keep the good ones open.
I would actually not mind it to stay like this, would make me visit more often. At least money I spent is appreciated again.
Walking Street was <deleted> tho, super annoying with those Chinese tour groups as well.- 1

I think OP is French.
Only USA citizens can obtain one yr multi tourist visa for Vietnam.
However he could obtain multi 3 month visas as often as he wants. I get 4 per year. Cost $75 each. So yes ~$300/yr.
Oh just realized you could be referring to business visa. That would need to be done by agent if you don't have a business sponsor letter. Agents sort that out.
Yes your correct. Won't delete my post as might be useful to someone thinking about 3 month stay
Yes the Biz ones are like 400-500 euro.
