  1. Hi,

I'm living in Bangkok and my brother plans to get married in Krabi next year .... He has whittled it down to 3 Hotels that do packages in Krabi ... Could I ask for any advice of the good people down in Krabi to suggest which is the better hotel, or maybe you have been to a wedding there .......

The three hotels are Ao Nang Resort, Ao Nang Villa resort & The Sheraton Ao Nang ........ Has anybody stayed here or been to an event here ??? What is the best looking hotel out of these 3, I suppose the nearest to the beach ...... I would travel down there and look myself but my wife is 5 months pregnant so can't do that at the moment.

My brother just needs a little bit of local advice as he is a little worried about sending a deposit to a hotel he has only seen in pictures on a website ......

    Thanks in advance

    Peter

  2. Hi,

Have a holiday booked in Koh Chang for friday to sunday and have checked on weather.com and it says it's gonna be raining everyday, but is it raining like it is in Bangkok at the moment, just for an hour or two and then no rain, or is it raining all day ??

What are the boat crossings like at the moment too, don't mind if it's raining a little bit but don't fancy a storm boat ride ....

Hope I don't have to cancel the trip as I'm looking forwar to it, hope it's just a case of raining for a few hours at the most.

    Thanks in advance

    Peter

  3. Shortly after the red leaders surrendered or went on the run it went up in flames, they did say previously that Bangkok would burn and burn it is in parts, IMO this was preplanned..

Now the debate will rage on like the fires in Bangkok and some people will say it had nothing to do with the reds, whoever it was it's a sad time for Thailand at the moment.

Yep. My GF showed me a video of one of the red leaders saying (effectively) "If we (the leaders) get taken, then you (the protestors) have to burn the buildings".

Please post this video for the world to see.

    Maybe it was this one

  4. Hi,

I have been on their website and it is advising patients not to go to the hospital tho it is still open. Unfortunately I have to go there.

So what kind of access is available to get there, i remember reading 1 post somewhere that Sukhumvit is blocked off and to get their you have to go through Sukhuvit soi 15 to Soi 3 then across Soi 3 to the hospital, is this still correct.

My appointemnt isn't until tomorrow at 10am so I know a lot can change. I'll be coming from Bangna area, so I should just get a taxi to as close as possible and then a motorbike ?!?!

    Thanks in advance

  5. Top djs usually play at Bed, 808 & Narcissus/Narz ...... You just missed Paul Oakenfold @ Narz .... and the Dance all dayer at the Bitec, which is a yearly event .... just try to get hold of BK magazine or Guru magazine for the weekly updates on what dj is playing where, they are both free magazines you can pick up at Starbucks ...... or join a mailing list, next time I get one sent I'll post the address here, can't remember off hand sorry

  6. Bed Supperclub on Sukhumvit soi 11 .... www.bedsupperclub.com

    808 in RCA .... www.808bangkok.com

    Flix in Rca

Club Culture on Ratchadamnoen Klang road

Narz @ Narcissus on sukhumvit soi 23, you just missed Paul Oakenfold tho ......

They all play Trance/Techno/House/Drum N Bass

There is also a whats on guide at www.bkmagazine.com that has all the weekly events

  7. I always use the normal Post Office, as stated above, to keep costs down send it as a small packet, it is quite a bit cheaper but you can't seal it normally it has to be done with a stapler, also you're not supposed to have a letter in a small packet too, but if u do they never check anyway.

For an extra 50b you can send it Registered, then you get a receipt with a number on it, I usually scan this receipt and e-mail the customer as proof of sending

  8. I'm gonna give another vote for www.nadzproject.com ...... usually the cheapest price, usually cheaper than MBK and they deliver to your door for 2-300 baht in about an hour (Bangkok only)

The manager speaks good english too

  9. Forethat, you speak about Focus when you work out, and I read about it in other weight training books but I really don't know how to do this.

I think I'm guilty of the go to the gym and pull and push a few weights, I always read about Focus but how ..... I have a very very short attention span and usually drift off and watch MTV while working out.

I'm also 182cms and 74 kilos and would like to put on some weight.

  10. The Parklands on Bangna Trat has a English restaurant, that serves good food and always has farangs drinking in there. Roast Beef or Pork dinner is 260b. Many other dishes, has a pool table and has Premiership football on at the weekends, it's an outside bar on the top floor about 300 meters past Central Bangna.

PArklands also has a small pub too.

There is also a german restaurant behind Ottos, the way I get to it is go past Seacon & Seri on Srinakarin road, then just before Udom Suk junction is a slip road from Srinakarin to Udom Suk, half way down the slip road is a german restaurant on the right, hasd great cheap food. German sausage, mashed potato & saukraut for 100b, gets a few farangs in there too.

  12. Read the forum. Plenty of information can be found.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Costs-Involv...se-t332969.html

Thanks for the link but I have already read that thread ..... and it doesn't answer my question. I know how much I have to pay on my new house. I just want to know if anyone knows about the Governments plans on what is going to happen after March 28th. My house will not be finished until May so I won't be in the time range.

I was wondering if it has been announced yet by the Government if they are going to extend the tax concession another year or are they going to remove it, if they are going to stop the concession have they announced at what rate is it going to go back to ?!?

  13. Hahaha I must be attracted to the "risky" parts of Bangkok then, I started life in Soi Lasalle 105, 15 years ago when my dad taught in Bangkok Patana school, my family then moved to Lad Prao 101, then I moved to Soi Suphapong ..... never had any trouble in any of the places, and after living in south east london for my childhood and teen years I can safe I feel a lot safer walking the streets of Bangkok.

Soi Suphapong is in Bangna, opposite Seacon Square, there are actually about 10 Soi Suphapong all adjoined to eachother, never felt at risk there, always go to the night market at 3am to get some food to line the stomach :)
