Thailand and guns: Media mentions thousands of deaths from gun violence - but the USA is worse
Mark Twain was accurate when he said there are lies, damned lies, and then statistics. The statistics on gun deaths in the USA don't tell the complete story. The majority of the gun deaths in the USA are suicide.
They also fail to indicate that 4% are justifiable, meaning a person killed someone else while defending themselves or it was a police officer killing a criminal. The last part is 26% are gang related killings. This is typically inner city rival drug gangs killing each other for territory or revenge. That leaves less than 3,000 net deaths by murder in a nation of 330 million people. Statistics can mislead as much as inform.

Go home and suffer you worthless wretches, we don’t need any more poor people to exploit.
We’ve got enough home grown candidates for that now.

There is a huge difference between a country or a person inviting someone in versus people breaking the law and entering on their own. I would doubt that you would be open to someone entering your home uninvited to flee being homeless, and hungry. The USA has more immigrants than the rest of the world combined. Every country has the right to protect its citizens and its borders. With respect to these people if they had not attempted to cross into the USA they would not have put themselves at risk of being victimized by unscrupulous Mexicans. Not any different that the Africans that cross the Mediterranean putting their lives at risk. The best thing would be for countries to send a clear message that those entering illegally will be sent back. That would curb the flow of people attempting to enter.- 6

Try this site. It is the best I have found.
https://www.skyscanner.com/?previousCultureSource=COOKIE&redirectedFrom=www.skyscanner.co.th
Occasionally has better prices. Both are just search engines With Skyscanner you can pick the month you want to travel to and return and it will show you the price to travel outbound for each day. By selecting it the return prices will show up. Not necessarily for each day. The site uses the lowest price found in the last 15 days. I recently found the attached flight for my daughter. PS. sometimes it is cheaper to book two one way tickets also most of the time the cheapest fares are to LAX or SFO. I have in the past book to one of those cities and then transferred to a flight on Southwest, or another airline. Most of the time cheaper than going into the final destination directly from BKK

1) Just live with her, a fairly common state in Thailand.
2) Choose a woman with less potentially expensive problems.
3) Marry her in Thailand, and forget the unrecognised foreign marriage.
This is right on. If you go through a the divorce in another country you will need an attorney. If it is uncontested it should go fairly fast. If the husband contests it, then it could be protracted sometimes for several years.
Assuming she does get the divorce, she would need to get the divorce papers from that country and have them translated to Thai. Some countries require that only government approved translators translate and certify to the translation. The papers depending on the country may have to be notarized. Finally, the papers have to go to the Thai Embassy in the country where the divorce is filed and the Thai Embassy needs to certify them. Upon return to Thailand the certified papers with the Thai Embassy stamp have to go the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bankgok to be legalized. Now finally you can go to the local Amphoe and begin the process of getting married her in Thailand. I know the process because my fiance is divorced in another country.
If your fiance has her passport and Thai ID in her maiden name, the Thai government will never know she was ever married and you can get married here. If you go through the divorce, I would not be surprised that they will require that she get her marriage papers translated, notarized and certified by the foreign country change her Thai ID to her married name and then proceed with changing it again with the divorce papers. -

It is not just Italy. All of the Western nations and even Japan and China face declining birth rates. There is a correlation between education, income and lower birth rates. It is quite ironic that the wealthy nations are working their asses off and having fewer children and then supporting immigration from uneducated illiterates from third world countries and in effect paying those indigents enough money to raise the immigrant children.

I guess I don't understand the "double standard" There were not definitive cases of Coronavirus on the ship but they banned it and its passengers. To the best of my knowledge they are still allowing flights into Thailand from China and not banning those passengers. If Thailand was exercising caution it would seem that there is a greater risk with the flights from China with passengers staying in Thailand then passengers who were going to immediately fly out of the country.

social safety net programs
The liberals are such wordsmiths. Taxes are contributions. Government spending is investments Abortion is choice Taxing at confiscatory rates is your fair share. Confiscation and banning is "sensible gun control" People in the country illegally are Dreamers now we have government handouts called a "safety net"
In todays economy any willing and able bodied person can find a job. Those truly too mentally or physically unable to work need to be provided for however in 2008, 27 million Americans are on Food Stamps. Today it is 36.5 million. There is no way that in todays economy that 10 million more people require assistance than 2008 which was the beginning of the financial meltdown.
One of the reasons the USA has such a problem with illegal immigration is that the "safety net" they are provided gives them a life superior to 99% of the people in the world. Helping someone is when you assist them in securing a way to provide a better life for themselves. Enabling and servitude is when you provide so much that the person is both beholden and has to will to provide for themselves. When asked Warren Buffet said he was going to leave his children enough money so they could do something with their lives and not so much that they would do nothing. The same should be true of our Safety Nets. They should be a pathway to a better life, not a permanent way of life.- 1

Before I now sell shares in Germany, transfer the money here, buy the house, sell the other house months later, transfer the money back to Germany and buy the shares back, I would like (via my wife) take a loan in Thailand for the time between buy the house and sell the other one.
Not sure I understand your thoughts on transferring money from Germany. If you transfer to THB and then back to Euro you will lose conversion fees two ways. Euro to THB and then back to Euro. If you borrow against the home you are selling, you will pay the loan back when the home is sold from the proceeds. You could take a loan against the new home as well and pay off from the proceeds once the other home is sold.

Think of your TV as just like a computer. It has a wireless card inside of it. You can connect wireless from your router. The signal will be a little less stable than if it is wired to the router with an Ethernet cable. -

To-day a True TV technician came to change our TV tuner because on 20 February there will be a change to Satellite 8 ....
After questioning him I think I understand better what your wrote.
Now we have True TV from a (small) satellite dish and I asked him what would happen if we use the optic fibre cable available in our condominium and he replied that this optic fibre cable would not enter directly into the tuner but that we would need a router inside our apartment and then connect the router with a traditional (white) TV cable to the tuner. However reading your message it should be also possible to have a wireless connection from the router to the TV : is this correct?

Instead, the sisters and their mother, Huhana, were left ''traumatised'' by Thai Airways staff who came at them with tape measures telling them they were ''too big'' for their business class seats.
I see nothing wrong with what the airline did. Consider, they consider your luggage overweight if you are 1 kg more than the allotted weight. Why shouldn't the airlines also have guidelines on passengers. I have sat next to heavy passengers who were too large for one seat and their girth extended into my seat. They should be forced to buy two seats rather than infringe on the comfort of other passengers who do fit into a single seat.

I guess you don't believe your own eyes when you see Joe Biden personally bragging. Google for yourself, about Hunter Biden and Barisma or I suppose you don't believe sources like Reuters, the New York Times or the newspapers in the UK.- 2

or for the lazy: isopropyl alcohol + aloe vera (gel) or baby oil (spray)
dilute with distilled or kettle boiled water
GeorgeCross,
I did that however isopropyl alcohol is not easy to find in Thailand. You can order it typically from suppliers who service hospitals. Then Aloe Vera is not easy to find as a stand alone. When you do find it, it is more expensive to buy the aloe vera gel than the hand sanitizer that already is a combination of aloe vera and alcohol. -
Of course the Democrats who rail against any interference by a foreign government in our elections had no problem when Obama used taxpayer money to try to defeat Benjamin Netanyahu who he hated. The USA has continually interfered in other countries elections. Who do you think put up the governments in the past in Cuba, Iran, Afghanistan, Panama, Vietnam to name a few.

But . . . but . . . Russian meddling was supposed to be a hoax according to the current misadministration. You can't have it both ways. It either happened or it didn't (hint - it did).
J Town you are confusing meddling and collusion. It is documented that the Russians had meddled in the election. They had efforts that favored at times Clinton and at other Trump. Some have theorized it was designed to throw discord into American politics which if that was its aim, it succeeded. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE that Trump colluded with Russia as part of any election meddling. If there was any collusion it was between the Democrats and Hillary Clinton who paid through the law firm Perkins Coi for a dossier of dirt on Trump. Perkins Coi hired Christopher Steele a former British spy who contacted Russian sources to write a dossier on Trump which was used by the FBI to get a FISA warrant to spy on Trump.

We had several phone calls from the True Sales dept telling us of a special promotion to switch to 5G. Finally we agreed.
Isaan Alan as mentioned you are mixing up cell phone service and internet broadband service. Mobile service is currently 4G and the industry is being transitioned to 5G. BroAt present 5G does not exist. Also your phone has to be 5G capable. Broadband fiber optic internet is measured in speed. Both download speed and upload speed. Something like 100/100 or 500/100 etc. It is measured in MBPS or megabits per second. On your wireless router, it works like a radio frequency. 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHZ are frequencies. 5.0 is faster but has shorter range. To check your internet speed just go to the following link. Your router and computer also impact your internet speed. Older routers can not handle todays speeds. Same with older computers. Their network cards are rated. An network card rated 100mbps can only process data at that speed irrespective of how fast the internet service provider is sending it. TV's are also for the most part limited to 100 mbps since a rate of 25mbps or faster is all that is necessary to stream.
https://speedtest.3bb.co.th/ Speeds connected from the computer by ethernet cord to the router will be faster than wireless. -

We have used the Glue Traps for roaches that have the bait. We have caught probably about 8 of them in the traps but have never tried to light at night. What is the benefit of placing the trap under the light? -

Get a cat or two they love to eat them
Rimmer,
We are also trying to get rid of the Feral cats around the neighborhood. Not only do they scream and fight at night, they defecate under the house requiring us to clean it up every day. I don't mind the gecko's outside. It is when they screech inside the house and we find their droppings all over the floor and beds -

Thank you for the tip. PS. I checked on Lazada. This is only 3 cans but 600ML instead of 250 so overall it is even a touch cheaper than the 6 can link you provided -
Does anyone have a solution that has been effective in ridding ones yard or house from Gecko's? They leave their <deleted> all over the house. We have tried the following:
- If you have eggshells, you can place them around your home to scare off geckos.
- If you have mothballs, you can place them around to repel geckos.
- If you have coffee and tobacco, you can make a gecko poison.
- If you have garlic cloves, you can use them to repel geckos with the odor.
- If you have onions, cut some up to keep geckos at bay.
- If you have cayenne pepper or Tabasco sauce, you can make a homemade pepper spray.
We were told by an exterminator to try a Techno Home ultrasonic pest repeller. Nope still Geckos
If anyone has come up with a good solution, I would greatly appreciate it.

People are always paranoid due to what the media writes. Right now, the media focus on virus but not accidents which killed more people looking at how Thai drivers drive.
So True, the media blows every situation out of proportion to make it seem far more dramatic and serious. I dont know what the deaths from drug overdose are here in Thailand but in the USA it is 72,000 a year. However let one airplane crash or one crazy person with a gun shoot into a crowd and it is a sudden call to arms for Congress to save them.
