  1. My  friend just told me that the IO told him that if he had stayed outside Thailand for at least 6 months that there would have been no hassle to enter, even with the many stamps in his passport (He came back after 5 months abroad). Seems that 6 months of being somewhere else is needed to raise no eyebrows. Can anyone reconfirm that? Or was this just made up to tell my friend that his 5 months abroad were not enough.

Op - this is my experience.

I've been back in Thailand 5 Years since finishing a work stint in the UK.

Travelled around a bit, but have stayed predominantly in Thailand, on tourist visas - aswell as covid extensions since the start.

I just border bounced today on the last day of covid extension with no problems whatsoever.

Sat at home now with a nice cup of tea, and 30 days.

    Safe travels.

Which border crossing did you use? I did this before before by flying into Malaysia and crossing via a land border at Padang Besar. The hassle was intense there too.

  3. Yes, I tried the new passport thing in the past and it had no impact. The IO instantly pulled up my history on the computer and the hassle was on.

A friend of mine with almost exactly the same immigration history as mine tried to enter Thailand on a tourist visa last month. They questioned him for 30 minutes and also checked his story of wanting to get married by calling his girlfriend and verifying what he had said. I am very reluctant to go back as I am really uncertain if they will let me in or not. I have passive income from Germany renting out a house. Would you think it would make a big difference if I show evidence of this income stream to immigration? What kind of evidence could I present for them to believe my story?

  4. Hello,

I came to Thailand on a Tourist visa on January 26th 2020. I extended this entry by 30 days up until April 24th. Then the Covid Amnesty hit and I was granted stay until September 26th 2020. After that I held a non-immigrant ED visa from September 25 2020 until January 19 2021. I was on Covid extensions since January 19th 2021 to March 14th 2022. Then I flew back to Germany and have been here since. My question is: Will I be able to enter Thailand again in November? I heard that immigration is very suspicious of people traveling and staying to Thailand too often and will hesitate to grant entry. What would be my best course of action here? Apply for a tourist visa or try for visa exempt entry and extend it in Thailand? I would like to stay until January if possible.

May I ask where that agent is based? As @ubonjoesaid, different offices will interpret it differently like usual.

They were telling someone else they could do it but it was for a lot more than what they usually charge, I guess things changed.

The visa agent is based in Bangkok. Does anyone have more info on this? Anyone extended successfully so far with the same setup?

I am in the same situation as you, I have basically heard some agents say they can do it, some say they cant, so im really not sure i still have quite a bit of time left before I attempt to make another extension, but I think it can be possible with the correct agent

When does your visa expire? Mine expires March 14th. I asked Thai Visa Centre and they told me it is not possible.

It will depend upon the office where you apply. Some may have a different understanding of the order and not do it while others will issue the extension since your original entry was on a tourist visa or visa exempt.

Thank you very much the assessment. If you hear from anyone with the same issue being able to extend at a certain immigration office I would really appreciate if you could let me know. Congrats on your 100000 posts by the way ????

I was on Covid extensions since January 19th 2021. My last extension will run out on March 14th 2022. My question is: Will I be able to extend another 60 days for reasons of Covid, or not. I came to Thailand using a tourist visa, but the last visa I held was a Non-Immigrant ED. I just need to know, thank you.

  9. Hello,

My Covid 19 extension is about to expire, originally entering on a tourist visa, and I just wanted to clarify and update for everyone, including me, what the requirements are at the moment in Bangkok. I used to do my extension on Ko Samui which went without any hassles or need to provide documents. Just the filled out forms (application for extension of stay, COVID affadavit), a photo, copies of my passport and the 1900 Baht, that was it. No TM 30 or other special forms required. Smooth sailing.

I tried to read through this forum and got bits and pieces of information, some contradicting. So I would just want to have a clear picture about  whats going on and what is required at Chaeng Wattana immigration for a COVID 19 extension for 60 more days. Would really appreciate, and I am sure anyone else who has to go to CW if someone could share their knowledge and experience. Has someone just done this and can share what the current state is? Thank you in advance.

  10. I got bitten by a "stray dog" at a gas station 1 month ago. I have had 7 shots so far, and today I am going for the final rabies shot. Its a nightmare. Have been here for 20 years and this is the first time I got bitten, but there were so many close calls before. The dogs are the only thing here that really annoy me, as you cannot travel freely. Take care everyone and dont let the dogs bite, 16000 Baht and 1 month of shots.

  11. Thnx for all the advice. I will try the Ranong crossing, but will go 2 days early, so if they deny me the exit I will still have time to try the crossing at Psar Phrum/Pailin in Cambodia which I used in the past and was all smiles by the IOs every time.

There should be no entry in the system. When I went for the extension I observed the IO closely for some raising eyebrows or confused looks, but it was all smooth sailing, so I am sure no such entry exists. The only possible reason that the entry exists could be that the immigration office in Bangkok does not show such entries as they only are applied when crossing the border, and that such an entry would only pop up in immigration offices at border crossings. But I don't think so, any thoughts?

  12. So I had some real trouble on my last entry at Don Muang Airport. I have several consecutive METV and the immigration lady almost refused me entry when I came back from Vietnam. She told me that I have stayed in Thailand for too long and that she made an entry into the system that I would need to present a non-immigrant visa when I enter Thailand the next time. Some have suggested that such an entry was not made and that it was just a threat to make me sign up to one of the language courses to acquire an ED visa. I extended the 60 days for another 30 days at Bangkok immigration without problems. I stay on Ko Samui now and the additional 30 days will run out soon. I am planning to make a visa run on my still valid METV to Ranong. Will I run into trouble when entering Thailand? Will there be the entry in the system or will Ranong immigration carefully check passports with too many visas? The system entry should have popped up when I extended the 60 days, right? Thankful for any suggestions.

They Lied. There is no such law, no place to read about it, you have done nothing wrong, and you don't have to leave.  You must simply avoid the crooked entry-points - including both Bangkok Airports.

So I still have my METV in my passport to expire on the end of April. But they wrote on my departure card that I need a non immigrant visa next time. And they told me that they made an entry into the system that I would only be allowed back into the country with a non immigrant visa. Do you think I can extend my current 60 days and then go to Laos or Pailin (Cambodia) and would be able to come back here on the current METV?

You have my sympathy. Is there any way you could afford a Thailand Elite visa? That does not require a marriage participant, which would anyway be more expensive in practice.

I cannot afford the Elite visa without selling the house, which is my retirement plan. Thanks so much for your sympathies :). I hope I can figure this out. I really want to stay, as this is my home.

  14. I just came back from Vietnam via Don Muang airport and was denied entry to Thailand. I have been in Thailand for 20 years, first coming to study (Bachelors degree at Mahidol Uni), then taking some time to travel and then continuing to study (Master degree at Thammasat Uni). Now I live in Thailand on multiple entry tourist visas as there is no other option for me. I own a 3-family house in my home country, that is why I do not have to work to support myself here. I lived here half my life and then you get denied, just like that. No warning. I speak fluent Thai and know how to speak to public officials in a respectful way. I guess that saved me, after consulting a senior officer who convinced the lady that denied me entry to give me one last stamp. They also added that they made an entry into my history to not let me enter Thailand without a non-immigrant visa again. When asking them what visa I shall apply for they suggested to marry (which I can't without a person that I love) or to learn Thai (which I obviously speak already). They said that I can read online about that law that limits the number of entries one can do on tourist visas. They even counted the days that I have been in Thailand. I guess that is it for me. After 20 years in the country I call home and that I love, just like that.

I don't think you can fool facial recognition tech thesedays without plastic surgery or a Hollywood quality special effects team

Yes I agree. But that was a scan made to verify a picture and match it with a person. I do not think that a passport photo will be scanned and compared to a database of hundrets of millions of passport pictures in the Immigration database. This would even nowadays take hours. I am sure that they compare the person standing in front of the desk to the passport photo in the passport. That should be straightforward. My question is rather how the new passport can be connected to the old one. The picture can not really be used for this, as the database to compare it to would be just too big imo.
