Lamb for Christmas
The second part of the above quote certainly seems to have upset a few on here for some reason, but as far as generalisations go , its not that far off the mark. Its probably a bit different in the predominantly muslim southern provinces, but I've never been there so I wouldn't know. Now as to the first part of the above quote... I have not met many Thais , except perhaps a few monks, who allow their "Buddhist beliefs", to interfere with their day to day activities, Materialism, Ostentatious displays of wealth, Lying, Sexual misconduct, Abuse of alcohol, and Xenophobia being just a few examples, To be honest I have no issues with that. And before the pedants start on me .... No I have obviously not met, or spoken to, every Thai national on the planet, and doubtless there are exceptions, but again as a generalisation it's not far off the mark

15 month retirement visa no longer available?
Why those who do not use agents feel the need to stick their nose into other peoples business is a mystery to me. Shortcuts are there to be taken after all

15 month retirement visa no longer available?
I'm guessing the OP must be referring to the multi entry Non O based on retirement, ( or marriage) which is the only visa I know of that could allow 15 months, if used carefully. It has certainly been removed from the UK e visa website, and many others according to recent reports, apparently the marriage version is still available from Savannakhet. Personally I have never used an agent, but I have no issues whatsoever with anybody who does, for whatever reason. I cannot understand why anybody posting on this forum objects to others using an agent, It really isn't any of their business. Do agents even have any influence regarding visa applications made in foreign countries, its not something I ever thought about before but I would be interested to know the answer As for the objectors, why not just get a life and mind your own business

UK statement to the house - net migration measures - did I hear right? Family visa financials doubled, NHS charge up 66%?
None of the above would happen if the illegals were not allowed to remain, How many genuine Thai wives are working in brothels, ? How many genuine Thai wives arrived in the back of a wagon or on a small boat?

Fake news ? like that extolling the virtues of uncontrolled immigration But lets get back on topic a bit, Thai Spouses and there visas ? A subject also worthy of. , closer inspection, I personally have visited at least 5 brothels owned and run by Thai women, ( not even in the name of research but for good old fashioned paid for sex! ) and I seem to remember a few prominent MP's who were caught , literally with their pants down in similar establishments. Do you think these women might just have arrived on dubious spouse visas?

Lamb for Christmas
Many Thais that I know have tried Lamb Most didn't really like it, None ever tried again to my knowledge, they say the smell puts them off (its also relatively expensive) Despite some of the things they will eat I find Thais pretty unadventurous when it comes to trying western food. I have also noticed a lot of them don't eat beef, which probably explains why there is not much of it for sale in supermarkets, at least out here in issan

Personally when I work in the UK, I work all over the place, many of the hotels I regularly used are not available anymore, Its a pain to say the least, and prices have in some cases doubled. Sadly many of the hotel employees have lost their jobs as a result of this. Would any of those in favour of this disgrace like to take this opportunity to apologise to those unfortunate hotel employees whose lives have been ruined ! Thought not

Taken over by the government or not they still provide accommodation of a far higher quality than that enjoyed by many in the UK I think you are the one who has been taken in I'm glad my ideas made you laugh, but it's not really a laughing matter.

Lamb for Christmas
For the lamb , depending on where you live, you could try one of those shops that specialises in selling over priced english type food, but personally I have reservations about buying food from ex scaffolders and the like lol. Seriously though there is always "tops" supermarket albeit very pricey. If you are anywhere near HuaHin/ Cha-am there used to be a sheep farm out that way, Might be able to help ewe out

I was assuming you know what "luxury" means? we don't all come from your obviously privileged background, but many would consider living for free in a 4 star hotel as a situation bordering on luxury, compared to the accommodation provided by the French . Especially when you throw in a bit of spending money, a mobile phone, access to free legal representation, and priority access to dental and medical care. Not to mention that when the asylum application eventually fails a gang of lefty activists will be rounded up to protest about ones deportation. What not to like?

So do you (and Julie of course) consider FGM to be acceptable if conducted with sterile surgical instruments. In fairness I must concede that at least they took time to groom the british rape victims, a courtesy not extended to their own females who are simply held down and mutilated , and at least the procedure is normally conducted by another female which no doubt saves them any unnecessary embarrassment. whilst the procedure its self is not a burden on our NHS repairing the damage done often is (for the lucky ones)
